The place is awesome!! It is a house turned into a cafe with super ambience. Located in a bylane at sasthamangalam this cafe has got excellent outdoor and indoor dining. They have maintained the ambience well with a coy pond and a beautiful garden. There is also enought parking space. You can have a relaxed dinner with your family or a romantic date with your loved one. Food was towards the expensive side. But taste was good. Ordered beef steak, grilled chicken. Their special blueberry iced tea was so refreshing. Will definitely go again. Highly recommended

I visited Velvet Dawn Restaurant for dinner with my family. We loved the food and ambiance. They have indoor and outdoor dining options. We chose outdoor dining with candlelight.

As for the food, we tried the Bruschetta and Chicken seekh kebab for starters. Main course we tried chicken fricassee, beef steak, and Schezwan chicken noodles. For drinks, we had mango lassi, passion fruit mocktail, and green apple crusher. For dessert we tried fruit salad with ice cream and blueberry cheese cake. Everything was super yummy except the green apple crusher, which tasted like syrup. Overall, we loved the food. Here are my ratings:

I would highly recommend this place for a peaceful eatery. They also provide candle light diner in the evening.

It is situated inside a lane from the main road. The security was very helpful to park inside the parking area. The staff are welcoming and well-behaved. We tried some of their specials, and it was nice. I think the restaurant is a refurbished old Kerala house. We went in the evening, and the lights and ambiance were great. The food cost is moderate, in line with the taste and service.

Never expected the kind of ambience this place has. We travelled around an hour all the way from Neerody and we were not a bit disappointed. Great food, ever smiling service and the lovely ambience

The cafe has a rustic feel about it. It has a koi fish pond in the front and is lush with plants. It's a home that has been converted and has a beautiful outdoor seating area. The staff was attentive and polite. We ordered the watermelon juice, the blueberry mojito and bruschetta and calamari rings for starters. The calamari fry was done to perfection. For the main course we ordered Chicken Fricasse, Swedish meatballs, Alfredo pasta, Chicken Burger, along with some Noodles and Chinese chicken dishes. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted exquisite. The food was not spicy but flavourful and was enjoyed equally by the children and adults. The pomegranate jam was the bomb! Sweet and tangy it complimented the meatballs and mash really well! For dessert the cheesecake and the chocolate cake were yum! The food is priced according to the quality and is a must visit when in Thiruvananthapuram!

I visited this place at my friend's suggestion and I was a bit confused at that time. But when I visited there, they never made me down and it is something more than what I have expected. Ambience, food, service everything, simply awesome. What's needed to mention is their Swedish meatballs and Cajun spiced chicken, the perfect blend of the West. As a dessert, I have tried the chocolate cake which is another masterpiece of theirs. So folks I definitely suggest this place who wish to satisfy their tastebuds with the continental love

Had a great time here. A home turned cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Not on a busy street rather a bit inside so parking can be frantic at times. Support multiple types of crowd. Concise and delicious menu. Went in multiple times because the outdoor ambience is very pleasing especially on a sunny evening. Tried a main course dish chicken fricassee once and it was a delight. The saucy combination and the rice was in sync. Portion size however could improve for the price range.

I had the pleasure of trying several dishes at Velvet Dawn in Shasthamangalam, including chicken pieces, salad, French fries, and momos.

While the prices might lean towards the higher side, the taste and authenticity of all these dishes are truly worth it. Every bite is a flavorful journey, and you can feel the dedication to authentic flavors in each dish.

I rarely give 5 star reviews, but two things moved me to do so this time - the incredible atmosphere and the friendly smile of our server, Vishnu (as listed on our invoice). The food was very good, and I had been craving for a taste of a Swedish meatball ever since my trip to Stockholm - luckily Velvet Dawn had it as their special today! We also got grilled chicken, fricassee chicken and Swedish meatball, and it was all really great. Beverages ordered included mint lemon and mocha. We had a chocolate cake to complete the amazing dinner.

The atmosphere was truly remarkable - I felt as though I'd stumbled into a cozy restaurant in Prague or Madrid. I wish Velvet Dawn the best of luck and hope they maintain this fabulous atmosphere for future guests.

Nicest Owner and Staff Members!

The owner was at the entrance conversing with someone, humbly approached us as we parked, explaining that the kitchen was highly busy due to a sudden spike in customers just before our arrival. We were perfectly fine with waiting, especially since they had a small garden area in front with a koi carp pond.

While we waited, we placed our order. After a while, we were invited to the back of the restaurant, where they had set up an outdoor dining space illuminated with candlelight.

Here's what we tried:

CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP - 200
KOVALAM SALAD WITH CHICKEN - 360
PERI-PERI CHICKEN - 500
ICE COFFEE - 150

The Salad had a unique flavor, thanks to the inclusion of mint leaves and peanuts, in addition to the usual ingredients, complemented by a side of sliced watermelons. Normally, it comes with mango and a sprinkle of chili, which we thought would have been nice. Since it's out of season, it was replaced with watermelon which was good too.

The Steak came in a generous portion, accompanied by mashed potatoes and could easily be shared by two people, especially if you order a starter or a salad.

Beautiful fancy cafe. Of course the prices are on a higher side but that's what cafes are all about. It is a house converted into a cafe and beautifully decorated. The garden in front can cheer up your mind and when you reach the backyard where sitting arrangements are there, you will fall in love with this place. The washroom is also so fancy 😂 I just had tea there but there were many food options. It was a great visit.

Absolutely loved the ambience as well as the food - presentation as well as taste! Thankful to Rajesh and his 2 Swedish partners for keeping an old house and its surroundings alive and converting it to this lovely restaurant - so tastefully done. 🙏The waiters were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly too! I visited Velvet Dawn along with my family n we had a wonderful experience, particularly the ambience is outstanding, we didn’t expect this kind of ambience in the middle of the city. Very friendly staff and the quality of food is outstanding, especially the cakes are mouthwatering. However, we faced some issues with the parking, they have only very limited space for parking, so it’s better to park outside(On the main road) and it’s only 100 metres walking distance from the main road. Must try the chocolate cake !!!

Loved the service and the ambience. The guy was extremely friendly and explained to us each and every menu which Velvet Dawn is famous for! Loved every dish we had too! Tasted unique and yumm!
