Ghum India Ghum -Tour Operator For North India

A South Indian ( non Hindi speaking) by origin, living in the UK for more than 25 years, my daughter decided that she wanted to explore her roots and requested me to book a trip to parts of North India , which has always fascinated us, but never thought that it was accessible to us as we do not speak even rudimentary Hindi.
I searched on Google by good reviews and chose Ghum India Ghum. We chose a complicated personalised tour package- Delhi- Agra-Jaipur- Amritsar- Mumbai-Aurangabad-Ajanta and Ellora caves. I was immediately impressed with Ghum as they had no problem with any number of changes to the itinerary and sent me changed itineraries within 3-4 hours after I requested it.
I will not go into specific details of our itinerary, but would like to say that the driver and the car was at our disposal the whole time and we were allowed to change the itinerary any time as long as it was feasible. This gave us the luxury of visiting friends and going shopping anytime we wanted a change. The hotels booked for us were beyond our expectations .They were all very comfortable, luxurious rooms with plenty of space, even though we were three people sharing a room. In particular, I would like to mention the amazing hotels in Jaipur and Amritsar. In Agra we felt privileged to be staying at the same place where NASA Apollo team and Mrs Kennedy had stayed. We were dropped at airports and picked up as soon as we landed at the next city by experienced drivers and the same comfortable car.
The tour guides arranged were very knowledgeable and helpful. They took care of all the photography for us. All the restroom and lunch breaks were very well planned and at very clean and beautiful restaurants.
The proprietor of Ghum India, Ghum, was always available for clarifications.
Our experience of the Taj Mahal, Jaipur palaces and the Golden temple was accomplished in luxury and comfort .
On reaching Aurangabad, we were impressed with the small clean airport and understood that the whole city was a world heritage site. Our experience of the Ajanta and Ellora caves was mind blowing. The Ajanta caves, pre-dated 2 BC, is one of the greatest heritage sites anywhere in the world. Having visited almost all of the seven wonders of the world, I cannot understand how this not one of the them! The monolith caves are filled with beautiful paintings and sculptures. Cave 1 starts with the classic Ajanta paintings which are world-famous. Cave 26 ends with a huge reclining Buddha, which I suspect is what has been replicated in other parts of the world.
The Ellora caves are more popular as they are closer to the city and almost in the plains. They are also monolith caves depicting, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. These caves/ temples date about 5-6 CE. The Kailash temple, which is cave 16 looks exactly as shown in YouTube videos. I was more impressed with the earlier caves 1-13, which were thoughtfully built for the labourers, and the artists before starting the Kailash temple. Many of the sculptures and idols favour the idols of south Indian temples. Once such sculpture is the huge depiction of “ Meenakshi Kalyanam”, very well known to south Indians
Overall the trip lasted about 13 days and all three ladies ( my sister living in India joined us) felt very protected, treated with absolute courtesy on this luxurious trip with comfortable, breaks and amazing food. We paid in Indian rupees and my sister was very impressed that the cost was so reasonable.
My daughter felt that this trip was much more enjoyable than many of our previous European and American tours.

We booked a 6 day trip to South India (Kerala & Tamil Nadu) with Ghum India Ghum. The trip was amazing thanks to excellent planning done by GIG. The driver was well versed with the local terrain and was quite helpful in knowing the history as well as local cuisines of all the places visited by us.
