The Zang Dhok Palri Monastery

One of very beautiful peaceful place in kalimpong. It's a must visit place. Recently visited again this place. Time just passes by here. Also in my last visit witness the prayer 🙏🏼 which was amazing.

One of the must visit places in Kalimpong. It is so peaceful that you won't know when time flies by. The scenic beauty is awesome. We visited this place a few days back and it was raining heavily but the experience was great.

Wonderful monastery in Kalimpong. It's very peaceful. You can spend hours inside the monastery. A must visit place while you are in Kalimpong.

This monastery is so beautiful and the place is so quiet. If you visit Kalimpong , do visit here. The monks will explain everything to you about Buddhism and all the mural paintings on the wall. But don't take pictures of the place as they have requested not to do that.

The monastery has a breathtaking view. when i visited in january 2013 the lama of monastery had passed way and monastery inner sanctum was closed due to his last rites. witnessed the preparation of his last rites and it was phenomenal. The grandeur of the event was amazing . People from all walks of life came to have his last view. the upkeep of monastery is amazing and beautifully managed. There is a ground adjacent to the monastery where we witnessed a football match. A must visit place if you are visiting kalimpong.

I always love monastery for there's quiteness and silence. It's very peaceful feeling when you enter in their pray hall. It's a beautiful spiritual feelings. If you love peace of mind you must go there.

A must visit place for sight seeing when you are at kalingpong. Reaching there isnt a problem can get a cab for 6 person at 1500rs if you exclude delo as it will be covered by travel agent. Rest you will enjoy every bit of the place as i did. The nature and the scenic beauty is mismerising .

The Zang Dhok Palri Monastery was established in 1970 by Dudjum Rinpoche and was consecrated by His Holiness Dalai Lama six years later. Today, Zong Dog Palri is regarded as a major religious center among the followers of Buddhism. Built in the typical Buddhist architectural style, this monastery has sculptured walls, pillars and ancient paintings. In addition, this gompa houses a main prayer hall with large paintings and has a three dimensional appearance inside. Durpin Monastery holds an important religious significance owing to sacred Kangyur kept inside the monastery.

Peaceful and happy place. You can ask monks about the monestry and they will tell you everything. Photography is not allowed in the monestry but you can take photos around and outside of it. The view from the monestry is amazing and I love the way it has been kept. Good place to have a photography session too 😁.

This monastery is on nature's lap. Besides, enjoy the breathtaking view of the Himalayas and surrounding meadows and forests.

Location:
4kms from Kalimpong market area. Walking takes about 1hr, last part is very steep climb though on metalled road.

Ambience:
Very quiet area, lovely views.

Monastery is beautiful, colourful thangkas hanging on the walls of the Prayer Hall. Large idol of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche.
Very good for quiet meditation.

Nice tranquil ambience and excellent views all around. Monks, young and old, can be seen going about their jobs. N.B. For shutterbugs, photography is prohibited inside the main building.

Good place to visit with a fantastic Monastery and an awesome view point. This is Durpin Dara view point. The view is magnificent with sighting of Lava, lolegaon, Kalimpong city, teesta river and The Kanchendzonga.

Closed to visitors in view of the pandemic.
but the walk to the Monastery is worth it.
