Just go for it. It's a homely stay, not modern like hotels or resorts, but if you are looking for a stay to enjoy the view, the silence of valley, an offbeat stay definitely go for it... And yes, the owner himself Mr. Nawraj is amazing. He will help you till your comfort.

In this place, we went for a short family trip. It was a really nice and peaceful place. The ambiance and overall experience was extremely beautiful. The homestay is located at a very good location from where you can see the entire city.

At night, if you sit on the cradle then you can see the entire city view which is actually very satisfying to watch.

You will find lots of plants here as it is also a nursery. Overall this entire place makes for a really amazing experience and you can visit this place.

I stayed in the property from 5th to 8th of Jan ' 2024 with my family. The owner is really friendly and accommodating. The services are top notch and I highly recommend this property to others

If you visit Kalimpong, this is the place you want to stay.

1. Amazing ambience with flowers, lights and swing. The decorations is absolutely brilliant!
2. The food is homemade, good quality, perfect in quantity and affordable too. The view you get while eating the food is cherry on top.
3. The hosts are very helpful, friendly and very creative with their work. You feel the warmth every time you get to chat with them.

Roots, shoots and Beds is truly one of the best places to stay when in Kalimpong. Literally 5stars are less for this place. As the name suggests "Homestay", the owners and other staff make you feel exactly like you're at home. They make you feel like you're the part of their own family. Sweetest people I met here. The food is also just like home. You'll get the taste of a simple non spicy, non oily food. It's not located in the heart of the town and that's what the best factor is. You'll get the experience of a completely isolated, simple, mundane village life. I didn't want to leave this place at all. I could spend my entire life here with the sweet people and amazing ambience. I'll surely visit Kalimpong again soon and this place is going to be my choice again.

Best homestay ever! The owner. The caretaker / cook / housekeeper - Rohit is great. He even gave us warm water during dinner without even asking for it. The view is breathtaking, especially at night. And you’ll be surrounded by various different plants with various different colourful flowers. The rooms are very spacious, and clean. The bathrooms are compact and there is absolutely no water problem at all. 10/10 will recommend to everyone. This place itself is a must visit place in Kalimpong. Just the market is a bit far, but luckily the road leading to the market is all downhill. And you can get auto-taxis while returning.

Terrific Experience . This homestay is quite warm & cozy .Felt like a home . The owner and In house staffs were really amazing & polite .Also ,Food was amazing ,Though I felt it bit costly but it's okay for an amazing view of scenic Mountains

I think it's one of the most beautiful homestays in Kalimpong. We enjoy ourselves a lot & create lots of Beautiful memories. The whole experience is too good, The ambiance is gorgeous and claiming. Once, if you try the open sky from a "jhulan", it's like a dream with open eyes. You'll get the experience of being isolated, calm, and peaceful. I could want to spend my whole life here with this environment & nature. We will surely visit soon in Kalimpong again and the place will be always our 1st choice.

It really added colors to our trip. A beautiful property close to nature 🌿🍃. The owner of the property is such a lovely human being. The staffs are really well mannered & we loved the food.

Was wonderful getting to meet Mr. Nauraj Gurung, the Proprietor of Roots, Shoots & Beds! A Jovial Gentleman who was happy to host us for Lunch.

The entire setup at Roots, Shoots & Beds is Rustic & Bohemian. Mr. Gurung's Nursery houses a varied range of Flora from the Himalayan Region. The Decor feels authentic & earthy.

The Food was the absolute highlight of our experience. Homely prepared Nepalese Chicken Curry, Crispy Fried Bitter Gourd and an array of other sides and mains made for a wonderful experience. Strongly recommend to one and all!

We were lucky to witness nice weather during our 3 day staycation. The property has a awesome view and very friendly owner and staff. The rooms are well maintained and neat and tidy.You can also get contacts of local drivers to take you around the place. They have inhouse kitchen option available incase you want to dine in and laze off. We had a sumptuous pork lunch.Its also pet friendly and we had an amazing stay here.

Our trip to Kalimpong was so special because of our stay at Roots shoots and beds. The lovely view, the ambience, the decor and cleanliness, is just too good. The host and the staffs are very friendly. A few pictures of our staycation have been added

Wow what a great stay! It's a little out of kalimpong town which is nice. You can walk in about 20 mins or grab a small bus going up and down the main road for 10rs a person. The garden is so pretty and views of the valley are wonderful. We ate breakfast and dinner there every day and night and was so tasty veg or non veg options. We stayed in the mud hut, nice and cool and a futon for sleeping. We had a look in the rooms and they look very clean and well decorated. Great sheet quality on the beds. Attention to detail is great lots of flowers and a pagoda to sit and read in the garden. There is also a pool table and many books to read while there. Would have loved to stay longer! Thanks so much we loved our stay!

Its a wonderful homestay. Everything was perfect. Plant lovers must visit this place. Food was good. Homestay owner is also a great human being.

This place is much more beautiful than we expected. A quaint little homestay tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main town of Kalimpong...but not too far away either. A perfect place to chill and spend fabulous evenings with a group of friends or family. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. Staff is friendly and able to help you with any local assistance. The owner is a very polite and cordial person and takes keen interest in keeping the place hospitable and full of lovely flora.

If you are looking for a homestay with absolute nature this is the perfect place you must consider. I have stayed here for one and half months and the experience was super fantastic and memorable. The hosts Nawraj sir and Pratima mam are really nice people I have ever met. They made me feel like home. They are very warm, kind and generous. The food was just as perfect as home food. Do try some of the local nepali food. I'm sure you'll enjoy the food as much as I did. Considering the location, hospitality, the food and the scenic beauty of the homestay, I'm sure anyone will like it.

I would highly recommend this place and I would definitely want to come back to this place again.

We had a plan to visit Kalimpong from 13th March,2019 to 15th March,2019, so we booked RSB. The place is easily located. When we reached there host Nawraj-ji gave us a warm welcome and we are stunned to see their amazing garden with variety of flowers and they have set up a great and serene place. The location is just outside the busy center of Kalimpong and right where the road to Deolo starts, but off the road so you cannot hear the noise.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and well furnace, and with hot water available 24 hours a day. The stuffs, Dinesh & Bikram is always keen to help us.
Now comes to food, the complimentary breakfast was everyday adjusted to our liking and every lunch and dinner we had there tasted like homemade food and was well cooked and prepared with care.

Firstly, the food is amazing. Homely cooked Kalimpongay food. The rooms are excellent for a himalayan homestay vibe. I attended a yoga retreat here by Hamsayogashala. The entire thing was epic. The owner is very cultured when it comes to floriculture, so one can have an extensive conversation with her regarding this topic. Also the highlight of the retreat was practicing yoga with live sitar being played by a fellow guest. Excellent place, excellent vibe.

Roots Shoots and Beds :: as the name suggests your stay will be surrounded by lush greens and varieties of flowers.

We were 2 families, checked in there on15th May this year and got a very nice and comfortable stay. The staffs were good and you will get all the amenities of a stay. Wanted to give an honest review as:

What went good::

1. the owners stay at a seperate compound 10-15 mts away, with a small children’s play area in between. So you will get privacy of your own and wont need to bother if you are disturbing them - as in our case kids were a bit noisy ☺
2. Food was also good and they made some less spicy food for our kids too, upon request.
3. Away from crowd and noise of city center. So you stay at a quiet place however in close vicinity of town.
4. This was the last stop of our entire tour, and first time had a TV in room in entire trip (other home stays did not have it) - loved that 🙂
5. So many flowers around, its really a treat for your eyes. Owner Mrs. Pratima Gurung runs a small nursery also part of her hobby. Purchased some varieties from her and had good conversations since we share the common hobby of gardening. 🎍🌺🌵🌱

What could have been better:
1. since there were gardens around, you could see insects coming mostly at evening times. We got used to it and keep windows/ doors closed after sunset. However this could have been seasonal as we got same in other places also in entire trip
2. Bathroom should have seperate garbage bin - a suggestion - so baby diaper and other wastes can be managed. However we did not complain for it, if done so it would have been resolved for sure.

I could have reduced one star here for above, but won’t do that because once you are up for a tour you should know about adjustments. These stays are not your own home and you should not expect 100% of your satisfactions met. What you must see how many of them are met for a comfortable stay and how many of them are adjustable without much compromising your health and security. And if I am to go where every need is met i will try go for a luxury hotel and not a Home Stay - my opinion.

None of us, the 4 adults had any complaints during 2 days stay there. Thanks Mr & Mrs Gurung for a such nice accomodation. We would love to return to this place again 😀

Nestled comfortably a little below Delo Park, it's quite a cozy place to stay with Family. The location, being a little further up from town, provides ample peace and quiet to loosen up and relax. Food was simple and home cooked which we really enjoyed. Rooms are well maintained with fresh sheets and the bathrooms are clean too. Thanks a ton to Nawraj uncle for helping us with arranging a car in the last minute for our sightseeing daytrip to Lava. Anjay da (driver) is a rockstar! Nawraj uncle and Prateema aunty take care of their guests with a lot of warmth. Quite clearly my go-to place whenever I visit Kalimpong next. Bon voyage!
