A wonderful place to stay, very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. All the rooms/cottages are set around a lovely garden - very relaxing! Breakfast and evening meals were great.

This was the best place we stayed in our 2.5 months travels through India, we didn’t want to leave! The cabins have beautiful views of the gardens, it’s very peaceful and private. The owners are friendly and gave us a ride into town one day. The location is convenient and easy to walk around.

One of the most lovely homestays you can ever be at. The hosts and staff are lovely.

The property has a lot of flora and fauna. If you want to have a relaxing time, good food and enjoy conversations around your iwn private cottage, Holumba is highly recommended .

A true sanctuary in Kalimpong. Homestay nestled inside two acres of a family estate and an orchid nursery on a hillslope surrounded by rare plants, big trees and the soothing sounds of streams. Close enough to everything but still private and tucked away. Lovely family with beautiful dogs

Staying at Holumba Haven was one of the best decisions of our trip to Kalimpong. I was with 3 other friends, all women for 5 nights. Thinlay, the hostess was very gracious and upgraded one room for us at no extra cost so we could stay in the same cottage in 2 rooms.

Holumba Haven is a green paradise, you feel your staying in a forest surrounded by trees, flowers and water bodies. There are many domesticated dogs on the property too, which are friendly.

We loved the breakfast which consisted of eggs cooked to order, porridge which was delicious and we couldn't get enough of it, toast, butter, marmalade, tea, coffee and fries/chips since 3 out of the 4 of us didn't eat eggs. One morning, on request, they made us puri and aloo bhaji. Simple food, cooked so well with no extra masala so you can taste the ingredients.

We were able to have dinner only once on the property, given our schedule. Since we asked for vegetarian, we were served, roti, rice, 2 kinds of vegetable, paneer and daal. Most Indians may find it a little bland, but they provide a chilli mix/chutney and pickle so you can spice up your food if needed.

Thinlay and her husband were always available with recommendations on where to eat and what to see which was very helpful. A special shout-out to Dinesh, Gagan & the two ladies were in the kitchen. They made sure we were comfortable & well fed.

I was grateful for wi-fi which always worked, but has weak security.
The rooms were quite spacious & beds were very comfortable. The door handles and knobs need to be replaced as it was a little tough to close them and impossible for us to close the bathroom door and we couldn't figure out how they did it when we brought it to their notice.

They gave us lots of blankets to keep us warm and a fan was available too. Upon request they even changed our sheets after 3 nights.

Wonderful, serene and relaxing place. Lush, wild and green everywhere! Old colonial style wood cottages. Don't expect hotel level service, but their staff are very friendly. The food is unbelievable! Great location for going into town and other tourist sites. Had a fantastic and relaxing stay here. Will definitely recommend and possibly return to!

The pictures provided don't do justice to how beautiful the property is. Our cottage was situated at the top and in order to reach it, one must go through a series of stairs and beautiful gardens filled with lush greenery.

The room itself was amazing, comfortable beds and a view to die for. There are big glass windows in the room giving a clear view of the tranquil mini forest that is Holumba. The bathrooms are clean and hot water runs 24/7.

The wifi works great and is more than enough for online meetings and work. The only downside was that in case of a power cut (though infrequent) the wifi stops working along with all the lights.

The staff are extremely sweet and helpful, anything you need is just a call away. Shoutout to Dinesh, he made our stay really comfortable. Thinlay manages the place and did everything in her power to make us feel at home. The food provided was healthy and good, you can also ask them to provide you customised food.

Oh, and the property has a total of 6 dogs and they are all extremely chill and friendly. 3 great Danes, 1 German shepherd, 2 Pomeranian and corgi mixes and one cat masquerading as a dog.

There's also a hero Moto corp in front of the property and you can rent a bike from there at nominal rates.

Also smoking is allowed.

We had a lovely time here. My daughter in particular loved the place and the greenery all around. She loves plants and being surrounded by so many flowers meant that she refused to leave Holumba for any sight-seeing. We definitely want to come back here.

We could not see the next cottage from our window due to the think foliage. I think for city folks like us this was a bonus.

The warmth of the hosts (and Kesang in particular) really comes through.

Folks who are scared of dogs should be warned that they have six dogs including two Great Danes and an Alsatian. However, their six well-behaved dogs are really well-trained.

It's a nice place to spend leisure. The woner is much humble and there are much more attractions, they are Dozo, Lupin and 4 others. Nevertheless, the available food is very well cooked and delicious too. I'm dam sure that the foods which serves here, will not even affect any stomach patient.

A beautiful place, very homey feeling, surrounded by nature, paintings, antiques and warm hearted people.
Don’t let me start on the food they serve!
It’s delicious and served with love.
Rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. Hot water all the time.
Animal lovers! You can get to play with adorable dogs and cats here❤
Once you enter this place, believe me you don’t want to go out🙂
This property is very near to the market area and very easy locate.
Overall, this is a MUST visit place. I will definitely go there again as I felt that 2 days were not at all enough for me.

Thank you, Holumba Heaven! 🙂

A beautiful homestay situated in the lap of nature. Holumba is quaint property located a couple of kilometres away from the main town. Home to various variety of flowers and butterflies, we enjoyed every moment we stayed there. We were welcomed by Mrs Thinlay, she is extremely polite and friendly. She guided us on planning our tour the next day and suggested some really good eateries around Kalimpong. It is a lovely place for people who love fur babies, the 3 dogs and 3 pups were like cherry on the cake. Our 2 nights at Holumba were peaceful and perfect.

Where do we start.. it's such a humungous and beautiful property, in the heart of the town. Its a heritage property which is very well maintained, it gives you a feel of living in a jungle away from the hustle and bustle... yet with all the facilities available. We absolutely loved our stay. This place is highly recommended to all the nature lovers out there ❣ Thinlay and the team are very helpful and kind, just don't hesitate to talk to them of you need anything...

One of the most peaceful places I've been in. Nestled amidst lush greenery, it seems a world apart from the bustling town of Kalimpong that surrounds it. The cottages are seperate and offer ample privacy. The food is great. Highly recommended if you are looking for some high quality peace and quiet.

Only visited. Our teacher, Urgyen Sangharakshita, stayed here from 1951 to 54, during which time he did much Buddhist activity. Read his "Facing Mount Kanchenjunga" for his experiences here.

The premises are picturesque, but there are multiple flights of stairs to take. The room was well furnished and comfortable, and I found hot water in the shower in the evening. There were cabinets, bedside lamps, and even a candle and matches. There was even a functioning fan. There are also multiple pets (including Great Danes and a German Shepherd), so animal lovers might have a good time.
The waste-paper bin in the room didn't seem designed for wet waste, however.
Breakfast costs extra, and it was adequate. Unlike Fei Wangfang in the hit manga Kengan Omega, though, it wasn't exceptional, just filling.
The staff speak fluent English, and the cook is a scholar.

I had a perfect stay at Holumba. I felt right at home from the first day and that's why I extended for a couple of days more. Loved the accommodation at the wooden cottages, the home-cooked food, the ever-helpful staff, and the pets on the property. I will forever be grateful to Thinley Didi and her family for being the perfect host :)

I stayed there with my husband for a single night. Their location is good. The interior of the cottages is done well. Food quality is above average. In short it was a good experience.

Most exotic homestay in Kalimpong. Beautiful cottages between Lush greenery. Karma uncle, the owner apart from his roooms full of artefacts and books is himself a treasure trove of knowledge. Holumba is itself a place to stay. Stay there for a day or two and fully recharge yourself. You will go back again and again.

One of kind experience. Stayed in both Treetop and Magnolia cottage, both have different charm. An apt place for break from urban jungle.
