We did the incredible 6 day Singalila trek and absolutely loved it! After initially wavering whether to do one of the shorter Singalila treks, we were satisfied we chose the 6 day. Such a beautiful area to trek and experience the Himalayan mountains, people and culture.
Pemba our guide, made the experience even more special and we were really pleased to share the experience with him. He was so flexible to our needs and thoughtful and would not hesitate to trek with Ashmita tours again!

The trek was particularly delightful due to the excellent organization by Ashmita Trek and Tours and its profesional staff. We did the day hike that started from Dhotrey up to Tonglu, then followed the India-Nepal border to Chitre. What an incredible experience of hospitality, culture, food, history, and the land– we cannot recommend Ashmita Tours enough!! If your time in Darjeeling is short, this trip is the perfect way to get a taste of the Himalayas without needing specialized equipment or extensive preparation. We were thrilled to admire the peaks of Kabru and Kanchenjunga while sipping tea, and also to step foot in Nepal (foreigners only need their Indian visa)!

Leading up to the trek, Subash was extremely responsive in answering our questions and accommodating a last minute change– he worked with us to postpone instead of cancel our trip, as we were recovering from a brief illness, and also offered alternative tours.

The best part of the tour had to be our guide Sangay. He is extremely experienced, having previously taught at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and been involved with numerous expeditions. During our hike, he taught us about the various mountain plants and their uses, entertained us with stories and great conversation, and opened a window into the local lifestyle, religion, and traditions. We really felt honored to have the chance to spend the day with him. There is no doubt that this trek was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip!

I have been lucky enough to trek in South America, Europe and North Africa and this 6 day trek along the Singalila Ridge in the Himalayas was up there with the best! Ashmita Trek And Tours is an excellent company. From my first contact with them they communicated promptly and clearly and everything was very well organised. My guide Tenzi was amazing in every way. He is a great professional, friendly, safety orientated and shared his knowledge of the mountains and culture which enriched the whole experience. I was stretched but had an amazing time. The views of the high mountains were a highlight as was sunrise at dawn on Singalila Ridge.

We had a memorable holiday . Mr Dipu Lepcha was amazing and we have not ever seen such a knowledgeable driver cum guide . Extremely polite and cooperative , he is a wonderful person

Together with my wife, I did the Sangalila Ridge Trek organized by Ashmita Trek & Tours in November 2023. They did a good job. I recommend this Trekking Agency to everyone who needs a tailored made trekking. Subash (owner) and Rupesh (guide) are highly skilled in there profession.

Amazing one day tour with our fantastic guide Sanglay. we started with 6am pick up at our hotel and drive to Dhotrey for 2hrs. We then trekked to Tonglu and had some epic views of Kanchenjunga. The guide and driver were super friendly and incredibly professional. Very happy with our experience and highly recommend this trekking company.

We had a fantastic multi-day private itinerary drawn up and delivered by the team at Ashmita. They arranged pick-up from IXB airport and transfer to Darjeeling, visits to tea garden and Tiger Hill, and the most excellent Tonglu Tumling day hike with a really engaging and kind guide. Our driver over the four days, Dipu, was excellent, pointing things out on the way and always happy to stop for photos etc. Prompt contact through WhatsApp, paid small deposit in advance by bank transfer.

We did the 6 day Sandakphu - Phalut trek with guide Pemba Sherpa and had an incredible experience! Pemba was the best guide we could have asked for. Everything (accomodation, food, itinerary) was perfectly organized. Highly recommended!

We have just completed the singalila ridge treck organised by Ashmita Trek and Tours. It was a fantastic experience, we had very clear views of the mountain ranges of Kangchenjunga and Everest. The organisation of the Trekwas superb, all permits and passes in order that led to a very smooth experience in that regard. All bookings for accommodation went well, food simple, plentiful, good quality, local and organic. Our guide, Dawa, went over and above what we expected, he was so accommodating. He guided us to all of the best view spots ensured we were safe and well, he talked to us about culturally significant issues and the geography. Really brilliant experience. We have booked with Ashmita for Sikkim Trek Goeche la trek.

I did the Dhotrey-Sandakphu-Rimbik trek with my team and I am so glad that we chose Ashmita Trek and Tours. Their guides, Mr. Pemba and Mr. Sangay, are two amazing individuals! Mr. Pemba in particular is a genuinely good hearted human being who is ever helpful and attentive. Both have very in depth knowledge of this part of the world, from where and what to eat, to what might be the specialty of a certain place.

Lovely experience!

We trekked the Singalila Ridge with Ashmita Tours. Subash was very helpful when arranging, squashing the trek into 5 instead of 6 days to suit our itinerary, sorted secure storage for our extra baggage in their offices in Darjeeling whilst we were trekking and helping with the arrangements for our onwards travel.

We had an excellent guide, Dawa Lama who had extensive knowledge of the route, along with the local flora & fauna! He was very interesting to talk to and taught us lots of the history of Darjeeling, Gorkhaland and Sikkim along with highlighting Kanchanjanghā and other peaks, arranging early morning excursions for the best views. He was also very helpful on day two when one of us was feeling the effects of altitude.

Accommodation was basic but good (to be expected when staying at 3600m!) with plenty of extra blankets as required to keep warm. All the huts provided delicious food to fuel our days and fires to warm our nights!

Would definitely recommend Ashmita and Dawa.

We planned a four-day trek with Ashmita Trek & Tours, Darjeeling. We were a family of four with two kids of age 6 and 9. Ashmita Trek & Tours made customized tour plan and treks keeping their age and strength and capability in mind. I made multiple calls to them and coordinated with Mr. Subash Tamang over phone, email and WhatsApp. He was very helpful and patiently answered all my questions, which helped in the perfect planning of our tour. Without Mr. Subhashish Tamang’s help we could never successfully complete this trek which was the first time in kids’ life and our life. We also opted for their airport car pick up and drop services. We requested for an English-speaking guide in the trips because the kids don’t understand Hindi. During the entire tour we were totally satisfied with their service. Prior to the journey we were given the contact numbers of the driver and the guide. On the very first day of the journey, the guide was there in the hotel on time we started our journey as per schedule. We met Mr. Dawa Lama, the most knowledgeable person of the trekking route, who was there with us for the next three days. We were astonished to learn that he was working as a guide in this route for the past 25 years. He is also trained from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and went into many expeditions. This man was a legend and surely, he helped us in each and every step and with his knowledge and familiarization with the route and his connection with the locals. His spoken English is excellent! Never in the trek did we face any trouble because of him. We went from Darjeeling to Dhotrey by car and from there we trekked to Tonglu. We stayed at Trekkers Hut at Tonglu. Then next day we went to Tumling and Singalila National Park and stayed at Shikhar Lodge at Tumling. Next day, we trekked from Tumling to Chitrey and then we took the car from Chitrey to Darjeeling. One day later, we went to Chatakpur day trek with them and Mr. Lama was there to guide us as well. We did not pay premium price to Ashmita Trek & Tours for this tour but in every step, we felt every penny was worth paying because of the preferential treatment that we received along with a personal touch from Mr. Dawa Lama. We tried to book a room near Ghoom but when all other places said “no vacancy”, Mr. Subash Tamang helped us out by arranging for a beautiful home stay near Jorebunglow. That happened to be the most exciting one of all the places we have stayed so far but that’s for another story (and review). During the entire car journey, we were provided with AC Innova as we requested and they promised. I would highly recommend Ashmita Trek & Tours for any kind of travel in Darjeeling.

In April as a group of 5 foreigners we did 7 days Darjeeling & Sikkim tour using the vehicle provided by Ashmita Tours. Agreement for exact route was made very clear and well in advance.
Owner Subash with driver were waiting to pick up us at Bagdogra Airport. Innova vehicle was clean and ready to manage all the roads. Driver Santosh every morning was ready to start on time, very understanding, humble and helpful always.
It was a pleasure our vehicle was provided by Ashmita Tours, and we enjoyed safe trip with our driver Santosh. Definitely will ask for the vehicle next time also, as well can recommend this travel agency to everyone.

My Best Experience Tiger Hill ... Sunrise Point

We went on the 4 day trek across Singalila, in a group of 6.
The company arranged for an early morning pick-up from our hotel in Darjeeling to their office, where they stored our additional luggage before driving us to the start of the hike in their Tata Sumo.

Starting with the guide: Pemba Sherpa, he assisted us with all government procedures and paperwork before we can enter the national park. And through the 4 days, he carried fruits and refreshments for us, surprising us with something new during every break. He took excellent photos of the group, ensured we made appropriate progress through the day while keep safety as the number 1 priority. During day 3, we lost a mobile phone and the guide went above and beyond walking extra miles to go back and check every part of the road while informing the right people to get it back. He was quite knowledgeable, knew the locals and kept us motivated to go.

The trek: amazing visuals, challenging sections with climb and descend and you will get the true sense of Himalayas. During late april, the mountains are covered with flowers and temperatures are quite tolerable through the day. Mobile network however wasn't available starting day 2 to the mid day 3.

Home-stays: If you seek luxury, you won't be in this trek in the first place and the stays aren't anything like a 5 star hotel, but after walking for hours they are really comfy places to be at. Friendly staff/owners, good-warm food and clean facilities. Day 1 was at Gurdum Mingma Sherpa Homestay- all basic amenities, except warm water which a paid extra. Day 2 at Sandakphu, no running water or mobile network but the homestay provided us with wifi.
Day 3 at Rammam, we were the first guest at the place- running hot water and mobile network were available.

Food: It was mostly Tibetan, we took a number of breaks through our journey. Tea was the common feature in every break, the guide called ahead with our special needs in terms of avoiding spice in the meals. The features meals were veg momo, thukpa, samosa and rice and veggies grown locally.

At the end of the trek, we were picked up by the same Tata Sumo and driven back to Darjeeling. Despite it being a sunday, the staff of Ashmita were there to receive us with the local scarf as a gift. They dropped us to our new hotel before parting ways.

Overall a 5/5 recommendation.

Very professional tour agency. They are full of knowledge about the area and have many activities available. We chose to do a one day hike in the Singalila Ridge and it was fantastic. Beautiful nature! Our guide Sangay spoke great English and taught us a lot about the area. Highly recommended!

We did the Singalila Ridge trek from Manebhanjan to Sandakphu, ending in Timburey. It was an amazing experience, my mother and I did it together and it was fantastic! Our guide, Mr Sangay, took care of us all the trek, making the most of it, taking us to the best spots in order to enjoy the views of Kanchenjunga, Mt Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. He is really professional, and we wouldn't doubt to repeat with Ashmita. See you soon in Sikkim!!!
