West Point Backpackers Hostel, Darjeeling

I had a great and comfortable stay. The stay was made great by Rebecca’s hosting, she was extremely friendly, caring and helpful, helping me plan my itinerary for Darjeeling, my Tiger Hill trip and transport back to the airport. The hostel is located a short cab ride or a 30 min walk to centre, and sights such as the peace pagoda, Dali monastery and the toy train are a short walk away as well. There is also a great view outside the room and tea provided by Rebecca is great. I would highly recommend staying with Rebecca for anyone travelling to Darjeeling.

This was a fantastic stay with a wonderful host and great value for money! The best part of this stay was the host - Rebecca who made my stay very special. She is very warm, kind, friendly, helpful, and planned a tailored itinerary of Darjeeling based on what I like to do (which is a lot of walking/exploring!). She also knows local drivers who can take you to places (e.g. Tiger Hill, Bagdogra airport etc.) for very reasonable rates. It was also great eating fresh breakfast at the family home above the room, and getting to also know the wider family, who are also very welcoming, friendly, have a vast knowledge of the area and great stories to share.
The location is very good too, around 20 min walk to the Mall (or take a shared cab from just outside the hostel for 15 rupees). There are several shops and places to eat outside the hostel too, and the Toy Train runs past the home which is really cool.
The room itself was clean, very spacious, and the bathroom had a good hot water supply. The rooms were built by Rebecca’s father so they have character and history to them which made it more special. There was also homemade chocolates in the room, along with local Darjeeling tea which was a nice touch. From the room’s terrace, you have a great view and can see the valley and the mountains (including Kangchenjunga).
Further, I would also highly recommend visiting the lovely Dorjay and Leela who run the Dolma restaurant that is opposite the hostel (and recommended by Rebecca). They only cook fresh food, made daily and you will need to pre-order so that they buy the ingredients. The food is great, very tasty and you get a real authentic, local experience. I ate dinner there every day I stayed at the hostel, and Dorjay is very friendly and nice to chat with too.
I would highly recommend this hostel to anybody visiting Darjeeling. Thank you, Rebecca for such a great stay!

BEST place you can stay un Darjeeling! Rebecca, the owner, it's pure love and she know how to treat the guests. We slept one night in a really cute room with amazing views of Kanchenzonga. You can prepare your own tea (delicious, local product from Darjeeling ) in the room 😉. No words to explain how grateful we are to found this place to pass the night.

First of all with all my heart i could love to thank the sweetest lady I met in Darjeeling the owner of the backpackers hostel, she is a lady full of life absolutely down to earth, she made me feel like a home , she guided me and helped me through out my journey, without her help my solo trip in Darjeeling could have been sooo difficult and expensive, am truly impressed by the quality of service, the comfortable accommodations, and the outstanding location ,
From the moment of my arrival, I was warmly welcomed . Her genuine smiles and helpful demeanor made me feel immediately at ease and set the tone for a remarkable stay. The level of professionalism and attentiveness exhibited by her is truly commendable.guys it's not only me whom she treated well i have seen her treating the same with other guest . No one should miss staying here if you come Darjeeling.

Best place to stay in Darjeeling. I wish I could have stayed there for long. Location is so good. You can see the Darjeeling train going under your balcony. The view was amazing. Room was so cosy. But the best thing of this stay was Rebecca Ma'am. What a lovely lady she is. She is so cheerful and always ready to have. The food was really like home. She is herself a traveller and has amazing stories to tell. She gave me her homemade chocolates, those were so delicious. Everything is nearby. You can make yourself a hot cup of Darjeeling tea(recommended), items are already available in the room. Though I was so busy enjoying the trip, I have not clicked any photos of the room. I went to Darjeeling on a solo trip, but this stay has really given me some good memories. All thanks to Rebecca Ma'am. Recommended. I will say again, this is the best place to stay in Darjeeling. It’s a lovely place. I have only wonderful things to say about Rebecca and her family as well as her staff. For me she is now a friend for life. The Homestay is beautiful in and out with all necessary amenities. Rooms are huge and bed is great. Location is 5 mins away from central market area but takes 15 rs one way to travel which is no issue at all . Rebecca is a tea lover and has Darjeeling tea complimentary in each room . She is an environmentalist also and does her bit to support it. She herself is a traveler and so understands our issues and helps with local sightseeing and info. Her staff is great as well . Leela and Dorjay who provide food (paid and Reasonable) are great as well. Good food and freshly prepared . In short this is the best place to stay in Darjeeling. ❤

It was a wonderful stay at West Point hostel. Great hospitality was shown by Rebecca didi..... the host. It's located some 3.5 kms from Darjeeling Mall road/Chowrasta. It was very cold when I stayed here. Bed heater was very helpful indeed. Overall clean. There was no water problem. Complimentary tea (self service) option was available in the room which I liked. WiFi was good. The Complimentary homemade toffee will make you happy. Rebecca didi has been a caring host. She interacted a lot and helped in every possible way.

Had a really nice 3 day stay at West Point Backpackers. What really made the experience stand out was the warmth and hospitality of the host, Rebecca and her wonderful family. Extremely helpful by nature, Rebecca makes all efforts to ensure her guests are comfortable and well looked after. She's an avid traveler herself and I enjoyed chatting with her about her travel experiences.
The room I stayed in was neat, clean and comfortable. Appreciated the extra touches in the room, like home-made chocolates and Darjeeling tea leaves with equipment including a porcelain teapot for brewing a tasty cup. There are nice views of Kanchenjunga from the gallery outside the room, subject to clear weather.
It's located about 2.5km from the town centre, on the approach road when coming from Siliguri. Getting around is easy, with shared and private taxis available right outside.
I would highly recommended West Point Backpackers. Hope to visit again soon.

It's an extremely pleasant stay. The place is very cool and the host Rebecca, is extremely warm and welcoming. Once we got stuck at the market in mall road, due to heavy rain and Rebecca's family picked us up from the market in their own vehicle without us having to wait for public transportation in that horrible weather for which we are very grateful. She also provides delicious breakfast. There's a view of the mountains from the balcony too which is very scenic. If you want to unwind yourself and enjoy the peace and serenity, this place is recommended.

Awesome location - toy train passes just below the hostel and you wake up to the most amazing view of Himalayas right from the window. The host family is most friendly and awesome and took care of me just like a family member. They also provide you a hot water bag to stay warm while asleep. The rooms are clean and neat. My stay was totally value for money and I would highly recommend the same for other travelers.

It was a wonderful experience staying here. Touched by the hostess Rebecca Ma'am's warm hospitality. Though a bit away from the Mall but nice location, cozy rooms, decent interior decor, hot water available for 24 hrs. You can make your own tea and with a sip enjoy the majestic ranges and the Kanchenjungha from the balcony. How can we forget the delicious breakfast! Thank you ma'am for all the help you provided during our stay. Would highly recommend tourists to lodge over here and enjoy your stay in Darjeeling!

When you go through the review section for this hostel (West Point Backpackers), one name that you'd find standing out is 'Rebecca' who is the host. It's not so often that you see the mention of the host more than the hostel/hotel itself. But, based on the experiences that we had, I can vouch for the every word of praise that's being said here.
The hospitality that you get here is unparallell and Rebecca is so so caring and full of life and a traveller/adventurer herself. While we missed the great view of Kanchenjunga, which can be seen right from the balcony, due to bad weather, the stay here was great and very comfortable. You get very comfortable rooms with all the basic amenities. You can also find everything you need nearby. The location of this place is such that you can take a walk to most of the places there is to visit if you like walking. The toy train passes by at frequent intervals from right in front of the main gate of the hostel which is such an experience.

How can I miss mentioning Leela, a sweet lady right opposite the hostel. She has a small food shop which she runs on her own. Rebecca recommended us to try her food out. And I must say, you wouldn't possibly find a more authentic home made food nearby and that too at such low prices. Throughout the stay of 8-9 days that we had, barring a few times, we had our food only from her. And why wouldn't you, if you can get such good food. Additionally, you can ask her to prepare food anytime and she can cook almost everything. BTW, I love the chicken that she cooks.

Overall, I would say staying at this place gives you a very homely feeling. You're always surrounded by some of the nicest and most softly spoken people all the time that keeps the vibe so pleasing. Would recommend this place without a doubt.

My experience is excellent. We loved to stay here and enjoyed a lot. We had a really blissful leisure time while staying in this hostel as well as moving around. Our host Rebecca is outstanding in every aspect. She is so helpful. We wish to go there again.

The hostel is neat, clean and an absolute comfort situated near the taxi stand of Dali Fatak. If you are looking for a calm and quiet stay away from the bustles then this is your place as it comes with a view. The host, Rebecca is very helpful and welcoming. She greeted us with some home made chocolates, provided her best advice regarding where to go and where to eat. On an occasion when we were caught up in heavy rain she also sent her relatives to pick us up for which we are forever grateful to her and her family.Also the chicken momos offered by Dolma's shop which is placed infront of the hostel was finger lickingly delicious.

We were a group of seven college girls travelling and as it was our first ever trip outside together we were a bit apprehensive about a lot of things. Starting from our place of stay to how safe we would be. Everything was answered when we booked our rooms at Westpoint Backpacker's Hostel. From delicious warm breakfast to ma'am Rebecca making sure we reached hostel safe even late at night, we had an amazing stay here. Music lovers will definitely love staying here because the hosts are a family of talented musicians and we had so much fun singing christmas carols together along with barbecue.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and everything we need is fully provided. Not forgetting the beautiful view of Mount Kanchengjunga from the hostel corridor and the Darjeeling Himalayan Train which passes by the hostel regularly- it's quite an experience.

I recommend everyone especially students travelling on a budget to stay here as me and my friends all left with our hearts warm, very satisfied and somehow not wanting to quite leave yet despite the cold temperatures just because of how nice and warm ma'am Rebecca and her family were. Thank you so much for everything Ma'am.

An amazing place to settle down a few days in Darjeeling!

The location is really good, next to the city center and at the beginning of some path for walking. Food facilities are there such as the lady in front of the hotel. The wifi is good and on lucky days the snow-covered summits can be visible!

The host Rebecca is a really nice host, full of attention for her guests. She is preparing various excellent breakfasts and keeps in memory all the past experience of her privious guests to enrich the experience of the future ones.

The best stay experience I have ever had. I have had the pleasure of staying here for few days and our host Rebecca was amazing in all aspects. Right from the time we arrived at the hostel till the time we left, we were in awe of her hospitality. She prepared our room before arrival to its very best and took care of every small detail. The room was neat and clean. Rebecca is an amazing cook as well and her breakfast was the icing on the cake. During our entire stay, we felt as if we were a part of their family. Her entire family was extremely welcoming. We wanted to stay there for some more time but unfortunately we couldn’t due to prior commitments. Would highly recommend staying here while in darjeeling. My stay at West point was the highlight of my Darjeeling trip. Being a solo female traveler I was very careful while choosing a place and then I found this gem. My stay here was exceptionally good, the host Rebecca is an avid traveler herself and made my stay interesting with her travel stories. The place is comfortable and the mountain view from the balcony will make you want to stand there for hours sipping on hot darjeeling tea. I can't wait to come back here again ❤❤

The stay was as amazing as Darjeeling itself ! I'm damn sure I'm gonna have the memory of it throughout my life. And this because the host family is so so welcoming, sweet , co-operative , loving and whatever I say is less. I traveled with my family of 5 in the month of October. Rebecca ma'am , Sharen ma'am and the cutest kids didn't let us feel away from home. The homemade breakfast and dinner was delicious as well us suitable to our needs. Rooms were comfortable ( we had really comfortable sleep after all those hectic days of traveling and treking) . Hot water is available . Place was tidy. But the most amazing thing about the property is that you get to see the beautiful view of Kanchenjunga mountain peak from the balcony. That used to be the best start of our day ❤. As it is a hostel ( not exactly a home stay) , they usually prefer solo travelers, couples and groups ( backpackers) but they were generous enough to host our family and our's was the first family they ever hosted, they said :')
