Mahatma Gandhi College, the institution dedicated to the memory of the Father of the Nation was established in the year 1948 by the legendary social reformer Bharatha Kesari Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan. It is one of the largest and oldest institutions of higher education in the capital city of the state of Kerala run by the largest educational agency of Kerala, the Nair Service Society.It functions with the objective of providing value added quality education to all with special emphasis on the economically poor sections of the society upholding the motto “Sa Vidya Ya Vimukthaye”. One of the Best colleges in Trivandrum. You'll have all the facilities. The college is clean and also a Green campus. You can sit and study at any corner of the campus. You can take books from college library and department library is also there. The teachers and college staffs are very helpful.

One of the best college in Trivandrum. They have excellent faculty with. Campus is so spacious and they have a good ground too. Canteen service is also provided. I completed Pre degree and BCom degree from this college. I always cherish the memories and I am greatful to all faculty for providing such a best education. My gratitude to office staff too for all the help provided.

The college can promise you with ample service. There are thirteen UG departments in this college and ten departments among them provide PG courses. The college started its functioning in 1948 and it was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The college has a large playground and has good parking space. You can enter the college only through the main gate, which is facing towards Kesavadasapuram. You have to travel almost 300 metres to reach the main building. On the first floor of the main building you can find the principal's office. All the later is in your hand......

I've being here for my MSc Zoology admission and I was fortunate to get a HOD like Mr.Balamurali.He was so helpful in every work.He was with us in every work . I had to travel to a long distance so he helped me to complete the admission procedures. I would like to thank each and every staff who did the need full without any delay. Must say that the Principal Dr.M.S.Anil Kumar was also so Friendly and helpful.

college started functioning at Vadassery Amma Veedu at Perunthanni in 1948 and was later shifted to the present site at Kattachakkonam, now known as [[Kesavadasapuram]]. Late [[C. Rajagopalachari]], the last [[Governor General of India]], laid the foundation stone for the new building on August 22, 1948.

The Arts section was shifted to the building in 1949, and the Science section in 1950. The main building was completed in 1958 and was inaugurated by [[Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru]], the first [[Prime Minister of India]], on April 24, 1958. The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee during 1974–75. The foundation stone of the three-storeyed Mannam Memorial Block was laid by Sri. [[P. K. Narayana Panicker]], General Secretary of the Nair Service Society (NSS) on April 23, 1989. The block was inaugurated by [[Swaroop Singh|Dr. Swaroop Singh]], the then [[Governor of Kerala]], on October 2, the [[Gandhi Jayanthi]] day 1990.

The college has 4,000 students, 12 degree and eight postgraduate courses. Besides providing research facilities in various disciplines, the college has started an Instrumentation course attached to the Department of [[Physics]].
