Varkala Aquarium

Nice aquarium with lot of fishes, description of fishes is provided on each aquarium. We reached towards closing time and they had closed the doors to the aquarium, but opened them again just for us.

A great place to spend time and to see some species of aquatic animals that you don't get to see everyday.
There's also a park just behind the aquarium that you can sit in and have a hit cup of Chai whilst enjoying the beautiful sound of the ocean and the scenery.

Awesome place of fishes. My son enjoyed a lot. Good infrastructure inside. Better than vizhigam aquarium. Place to see in Varkala. Don't miss it. See all my photos for details. Don't miss out on the outside sea shore near the aquarium. Very good scenic and quiet place with coconut trees giving shelter to you.

It's a worth it place to visit.We can observe many types of fish, crabs and prawns etc.There is no restrictions or additional fee for taking photos.The aquarium also has a 3D theatre where information about more species of fishes is given using the 3D technology. A children's park is near to it also. This aquarium is situated in a lighthouse style building.The floors are not flat at all,it's slope and flat surface orderly. This place is under Government of Kerala.

Feast for eyes. Well maintained. Professional staff. Must visit for all ages. Don't miss it if you are In Varkala. There is a 3D theatre too. It is on the way to Thiruvambadi beach. They have lots of varieties of fishes and other sea creatures. Children will love the experience. You can go to the beach as well after visiting the aquarium.

Another spot in Varkala which is worth watching. Cater both kids and adults. It's a quick watch aquarium. It takes hardly half an hour to cover the entire area. Uniques of the structure is that it is totally wheel chair friendly. However, elderly people might feel difficult as they have to walk through slopes instead of steps.

It's totally worth it. Tourists should visit here. What I really like is the open theatre aside from it. It is the most peaceful place you could be in Varkala. Beach sound and in serenity of nature. Take a walk from Krishnatheeram to the next beach north side. It will be a walkway outside the aquarium compound. Thank me later.

Best place to see rare fish species. The 3D show is very awesome. This aquarium is very small but it contains lot of fish species. The entry fees is reasonable ane we have to pay seperate fees for 3D show also.

Its is an excellent place to spend 1-2 hrs a variety of fresh water & Salt water fresh fishes are on display, the building is like a spiral all the way to the top with a beach view through most of the windows. Amble parking space is available, as the area is near to a very quiet beach with not much visitors.
rates are very affordable, and a very good place to take children. after the visit at the aquarium check out the near by beach and walk way along the beach side its very good.
best time to go is during sunset.

Well arrangred with lots of variety fishes.They have nice collection of marine and freshwater fishes. The ramp for climbing up the building is little bit difficult for old age people but it won't be an issue with normal person and children's.

Located in-between the Black Beach and Odayam Beach in a three-story building with a spiral staircase is one of the fascinating Varkala tourist places - Varkala aquarium. The aquarium hosts big chunks of exotic species including scorpionfish, angelfish, koi and the local karimeen.

The marine species are placed along the spiral walkway.The aquarium is highly educational, especially for the kids, with detailed information sections. The top floor of the building has an open tank where all the species are placed.

The scenic Varkala cliff is visible from the building area, and the lush of sea breeze can be churned upon from the walk-way. The aquarium makes for an exciting diversion from the beach.
