My View: A unique experience one must go through if you visit Rajasthan and particularly Jaisalmer.

When you are on a Rajasthan tour, you might get a monotonous feeling after visiting too many forts. This is where this place brings you out of it.

How ever in my view this place is definitely overhyped as the sand dunes are very small and you do not get a chance to see big dubai like desert. So please keep this in mind.

Activities in sand dunes are a bit high priced as the rides are very short paced, so be watchful when you decide to take those rides.

We took jeep safari, camel ride, bike ride and parachute which costed like 7000 per person in total and honestly we found not of much value for the time they were offered, however enjoyed.

Night stay will not be in Desert and will be on road side tents with food and DJ being offered during night, you can choose to stay or skip as per your preference. I would not say it's a out of box experience, but your opinion may vary.

Roads are very good and one will enjoy the ride either on bike or car, being alone or with family.

If you want to experience sand sports and other sand related activities than come to Sam Village. There are thousands of tent cities plus hotels for accommodation. In tent cities you can enjoy folk dance, campfire, live music etc. You can hire a taxi for exploring Sand dunes from tent city or from outside the tent city on bargaining. I suggest you to always hire a taxi from outside the tent city for sand dunes. If you want to enjoy nonveg and drinks at night in tent city then ask it before booking the tent. I suggest to take drinks from outside the tent city because in tent city they provide it at very very high price, so always buy your drink from SAM village before 8:00 PM coz in Rajasthan all wine shops closed at sharp 8:00 PM.

Although sam sand dunes are a little crowded, it is surely worth a visit. Sunset from there is beautiful, and you can also do stargazing at night.

SAM Desert , 40 away km from Jaisalmer, is the most popular excursion to see the total sandy bush less desert. It has a truly glorious stretch of sweeping sand dunes.

It is best to be here at sunrise or sunset, and many camel safaris spend a night at the dunes. The best way to see this and other sites around Jaisalmer is to take a camel safari. The standard trip lasts for 4 days and three nights, and offers the opportunity to explore the area in authentic and leisurely fashion, with entertainment by folk performers, visits to villages, and chatter from colourful guides thrown in. However you can also day trip and go by car.

My first experience in sand dunes was very good, experiencing camel safari was outstanding. If you can bargain then you will get tent stay, camel safari and jeep safari in budget. While returning you can see the ghost village as well .

best place to visit if you want to enjoy your then go between August to February this is the best season for sam sand dunes, go to see the sunset view enjoy your drink there.
go for thar safari stay in tents there are many more other avancture activities are also started in sam sand dunes but bargain properly ;)

This is a must go place while visiting Jaishamer ( infact while visiting Rajasthan). You can experience the Thar, only desert of India. There are many activities like, Jeep Safari, Camel Safari, Parasailing, ATV bike riding etc depending on the budget and interest.
You need to hire a Jeep, to go to this place, which you can book as a package or seperately.
Tips : Do bargain a lot, you will thank me later 😀

Good place to enjoy sand dunes and camping with family. Nice resort. Very good rooms, staff is very courteous and helpful. Food is great, cultural program was best.

Sam Sand Dunes is covered by Golden Sand and is the one of the best places to visit in Jaisalmer. It is approximately 45KM from main Jaisalmer. Ther are lot of camps around sam sand dunes which starts from 2000 onwards. One can go camel ride on these dunes and it's a perfet adventure. Must visit place in Jaisalmer

Beautiful sunset view,u can enjoy jeep safari n camel safari there, u can also enjoy atv bike and paragliding.

Don't expect the huge sandunes

desert jeep safari was amazing, the drivers have an expertise to manoeuvre the jeep on sand dunes and that's thrilling, also sometimes fearsome.

Camel ride at sunset is also a nice experience, specially for kids.

There are other adventure activities like parasailing, quad biking, etc.

Of you want to experience the true essence of Rajasthan this is the place for you. Just make sure to take plenty of sweaters if you are visiting in winter, it's very cold there.
