The trail is so beautiful. In the rainy season, the waterfall has its full youth. Also, at that time, the visitors presence is maximum.
The best time to visit is between February to April and September to November.
Before visiting, proper preparation and guiding is mandatory. Food support is available from local people at reasonable cost.

Hum Hum Waterfall is a scenic waterfall located in the Bandarban district of Bangladesh. It is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country, and is a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international visitors. The waterfall is named after the sound it makes as the water cascades down the rocks into the pool below.

The Hum Hum Waterfall is situated in a lush green forested area, surrounded by rolling hills and scenic landscapes. The waterfall is fed by the Surma River, and is part of a larger system of waterfalls and streams that flow through the region.

In addition to its natural beauty, the Hum Hum Waterfall is also an important cultural and spiritual site for the local people. The waterfall is associated with several legends and folklore, and is considered a sacred site by the Marma people, one of the indigenous communities of the region.

Visitors to the Hum Hum Waterfall can enjoy a range of activities, including hiking, swimming, and bird-watching. There are several trekking routes that lead to the waterfall, and visitors can also enjoy scenic views of the surrounding landscapes from various viewing platforms along the way.

Despite its popularity, the Hum Hum Waterfall faces several challenges, including environmental degradation, over-tourism, and habitat loss. To ensure the sustainable use of the waterfall's resources and to protect its unique landscapes and habitats, there have been several efforts made by local communities, government agencies, and non-government organizations to promote responsible tourism and conservation in the region.

Once you arrive at the waterfall, prepare to be captivated. The cascades, gracefully descending amidst towering trees and moss-covered rocks, create an ethereal atmosphere. An adventurous and challenging trail where awaits a memorisming waterfall. Which will wash away all the hardship of travel. Don't forget to take mosquito repellent cream. And I don't recommend people to go there who don't have previous trekking experience.

One of the toughest waterfall trail in Bangladesh. The road is very dangerous in rainy season. It becomes muddy and slippery in the rainy season. The trail is full of leeches and other wild animals. One can easily hurt oneself here in the road and as well as in the waterfall.

Together me and my wife we went for a day long trekking to Hum Hum Waterfalls during the end of this July from Sreemangal..! Located in Moulvibazar district, this is very close to the Indian border, you have to go to Sreemangal from Dhaka by bus, train or private vehicle. And, there is no proper place for families at, or, around the Hum Hum Waterfalls for night stay. So, it must be a day trip to and from this place. Though, few of my traveler and Cyclist friends took tents with them and camped during the night just outside of the forest.

This was a great journey this time to the falls, some places the path was muddy, some slippery, some places you had to cross small strings, galleys and canals..! You will have to climb up and down walking both the ways.. through a jungle trail. During rainy season, there would be leeches found on your feet few times, not big deal at all, however check often. Its an excellent trail to trek, so this is not at all only about the Water Falls..! A must to go place..!!!

As said earlier, in most/ usual cases it has to be a day trip. So, start from Sreemangal by 7:00/ 7:30 am, DO NOT START LATE...!!!

How to go to and from Sreemangal from Dhaka:
i) By bus: Hanif Poribahan (bus service) and Shyamoli Poribahan have bus to Sreemangal every hour all day long..! Ena has AC buses on in the morning and another in the afternoon (google for latest update). However, if would like to save hotel bills you may travel both ways during the nights. Bus starts from Sayedabad, each of the bus companies have their ticket counters for purchasing the ticket and waiting.
For AC Bus: it might take something like 700 or 800 taka one way, for non AC 450 taka..! Caution: If you have a weak heart please do not dare to go by Hanif, they drive like Nascar drivers..!

ii) By Train: All the train from Dhaka starts from Komlapur Rail Station, there is a train that starts in the morning and another at 9:30 pm in the evening. Train fare starts from 240 to 1,000 taka. However, the night train reaches Sreemangal as early as 2:30 am/ 3:00 am/ 3:30 am that is inconvenient for many reasons, accordingly choose day time train if you are wiling and enthusiast about train.

iii) By Cycle or private/ hired car: Its only 180 Km road trip from Dhaka, so no matter what you take its great journey. You may follow Dhaka to Sylhet Highway through Kulshi 300 feet road, Kanchanpur bridge, Maona, Sylhet highway..! Quality of Road is fine all the ways only need to be a bit more careful during Kanchanpur to Maona and Voirob to Bramhanbaria junction due to more traffic in these sections.

Transport: From Sreemangal you may take CNG Auto Rickshaw for the whole day to go and come back with the same one. The Auto Rickshaw will wait for the whole day until you come back. You wont get anything from there on the way back, if you don't contract for the whole day. It will take 1,500 to 2,000 taka for the whole day. Nothing additional. You may take a Chander Gari (old 4 wheel jeep) it would go further than CNG upto Kolabon para.. and would be faster with 3,000 to 4,000 taka for the whole day. From Kolabon para.. it is around 4 Km trekking/ hiking..!

Food and Drinks: Take dry food and energy/ peanut/ chocolate bar, dry dates, water, Chanachur, chips/ fries.. with you..! As there wont be any shop both ways. You would get bottled water, packet snacks at the falls site. But be very care not litter but bring with foils and packs with you for the sake of environment.

Trekking Guide: At the entry gate of you would get some tea garden laborer and locals sitting, you would get a guide within 400 taka.. for the entire day.. till the end of the trip. Guides are good and reliable..! We had Bidhan as guide, you may also search for him.

Caution: Start as early as possible in the morning, don’t litter, prefer a Chander Gari (old jeep), take some dry food and water with you.

Have a Great Trip...!!!

If you love trekking then this place is for you. walk is about two and a half to three hours and the path is quite dangerous. There is also the fear of jokes and mosquitoes on the way. Take these things in mind and then leave. And yes, if you want to see the real beauty of Hum Hum, you must go in the rainy season. But keep in mind that the road (mountain road) is very slippery when it rains, if you eat the slip can be a big danger, so be careful. There was prayer😀

Wow! Wow, wow.
What a adventurous place I have ever gone!
The only walking way of 2 to 3 hours passing through full of leech, vertical slippery hillocks, poisonous leaves and a pinpoint silence will make you thrilled. By the time when you will pass through the deep forest, unknown birds digit will bewicth you.

Hum Hum waterfall is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and wants to explore the beautiful and picturesque landscapes of Bangladesh. The combination of the beautiful waterfall, lush forests, and tea gardens make it a unique and unforgettable experience. Visitors can hike through the forests to reach the waterfall, and along the way, they can enjoy the beautiful scenery and the fresh air. The hike can be a bit challenging, but the beautiful scenery and the refreshing atmosphere make it a worthwhile experience.

Very beautiful place. From kola para you have to take a guide. Two ways to go. Jhiri path & Pahari path. It is better to go with Jhiri path & back with Pahari path. You will have to climb a hill in jhiri path and have to cross a canal(swim) in pahari path. Jhiri path is so much thrilling and adventurous. But in rainy season, it is difficult to climb down the hill. So, come back with pahari path. Must see place.

Hum Hum Waterfall is a natural waterfall located in the Kurma forest bit area deep in the Bandi Protected Forest. It is also known as Hammam Jharna by locals. The path to the waterfall is slippery and muddy, so you might need some assistance to walk. The scenic view is extraordinary and the waterfalls and trees boost the environment there.
