The Srisailam Dam is constructed across the Krishna River in Nandyal district (Andhra Pradesh) and Nagarkurnool district (Telangana). The dam is located around 13 km away from the Srisailam town, surrounded by the beautiful Nallamala Hills and is the 2nd largest capacity working hydroelectric station in India. While visiting Srisailam Temple, you can visit this beautiful tourism site also.

The Sri Sailam Dam is the second largest capacity working hydroelectric power station in India. Built across the Krishna River in Nagarkurnool district (Telangana) and Nandyal district (Andhra Pradesh), the dam is constructed in a 300 m deep gorge in the Nallamala Hills near the temple town of Sri Sailam, making it one of the few deep gorges dams in the country. The resultant reservoir has an area of 616 km². The dam is 145.10 m tall and 512 m wide, with radical crest gates.
Lovely clean waters of Krishna river and reservoir. Most enjoyable for boat ride. The river acts like a boundary between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

This is one of the largest dam in india constructed on Krishna river. One can visit this dam while going to sreesailam. The water flowing through the gates of dam into deeeeeep gorge is a treat to watch. It creates huge reservoir contributing to growth of states Andhrapradesh and Telangana. Its a good spot to stop by and have lovely view of dam. I had the opportunity to visit this place while on our trip to Mallikarjun. Nearby attractions are also available and one can have really good snaps of its mesmerizing view. Be cautious with monkeys there.

It's a place where you will come across on the way to Srisailam mallikarjuna Swamy temple. People click few snaps and leave. Nothing much to spend time with family. More beautiful when you visit in rainy season because Dam gates will be in open condition during rainy. In summer season not so great.

It’s scenic view surrounded by greenery and mountains, unfortunately when I was there they did not open the reservoir gates, but the dam construction is too good, it’s old but this particular Srisailam reservoir is the second largest capacity working for hydroelectric station in India. And constructed across the Krishna river.

This is the way from Hyderabad to Srisailam. The dam is looks very beautiful in panoramic view. The gigantic area around the dam is completely cover by forest. There are view spots along the ghat travel. I must say one can take a break and enjoy the beauty of nature along with man made construction of dam. The dam would look amazing if all the gates were opened.

Couldn't stop myself from this awesome drive to the Holy Shrine of Srisailam. Har Har Mahave. The darshan was as best as it could be. A simple 5 minute walk in and walk out of the Holy Temple. It's a blessing in disguise. Negligible number of pilgrims at the Holy Shrine.
Drive from Hyderabad to Srisailam was a cakewalk. The roads are superb.
The mammoth Srisailam Dam was in it's full glory, gusting out enormous amounts of water, which we had never seen before. At one point on the ghat road, it was almost like 🌧 rain. But it wasn't rain. It was the thick mist which was forming due to the water which was falling from such a height of the collosal dam.
The drive through the LARGEST TIGER RESERVE, The Nallamalla Forest range was a picturesque soothing experience. Got a glimpse of a snake crossing our path and a lot of monkeys 🐒 too!
This is a perfect time to visit Srisailam. Zero rush... it was a Monday. Perfect roads. Dam's gates are open. Beautiful weather.
There are no travel restrictions. I had taken AP Travel Permit. But no one checked. Booked darshan tickets online.
This drive of 460 Kms (up & down) will be cherished forever... loved this awesome Monday... the 24th of Aug., 2020. 🏎🚙🚗🚘⛰🌅

This calm, cool and serene tourist spot surrounded by greeneries on the way towards Srisailam Siva Temple is a must visit place in Andhra Pradesh. Hydro electric power plant based on Krishna river is really amazing.
Hotel and restaurants are needed in this place to attract more tourists each year. People cannot spend night nearby due to lack of fooding and lodging places. Roads are dangerous because of sharp U-turns.
It looks more beautiful when water is released from the dam during special time of the year.
The area is not upscale. You can visit in special time of the day. Roads get blocked very often in rainy season due to landslide. Boating facility is available but emergency security is not tight.
Thus place deserves 4.6 star. However, it needs more maintenance.
This review is based on my two times visit to this place and unbiased.
