Ava Art Gallery

Ava Art Gallery was established in the year 1965 by Late Ava Devi who was known as a genius of embroidery art, and Bhopal Rao Sett. Ava Art Gallery is the only art gallery of its kind in Darjeeling. When you enter inside, one would get to see a permanent collection of sixty pieces of exquisite artwork of Ava Devi including water, oil and thread paintings.

There are two special paintings in the gallery that one must not miss. The first one is called "Still Strong" and the other one as "Torture" that reflect Ava Devi's outstanding talent and skills in the field of artwork.

The gallery opens from 8 in the morning till 2 in the afternoon and and again opens from 1 in the afternoon till 5 in the evening. Please note that photography is not permitted inside.

A good place to visit in Darjeeling if you are into arts and stuffs. Entry fee is only 5rs. Photography is strictly not allowed inside and any defaulter to this rule will be penalised with a fine of 1000rs.

We visited Ava art gallery ....we are awestruck by the art work of Ava Devi.....no doubt she was one of the finest artists of India....her artwork are the examples of finest composition and needle work ....she played with light and shade with elan....I strongly recommend for visiting this gallery .

Simple and beautiful place full of art, coin collection and may other collectibles can be found, visitors are welcome from 8:00am-7:00pm.

Must visit for art lovers...amazing artworks by ava devi. You should check the embroidered artworks especially, mind-blowing.

Great place to see work of Ava Devi.. unfortunately very less attention is given to maintenance and display of the painting... Her paintings deserve much more credit...

There are some great works of embroidery, my eyes couldn't even believe it was actually handmade embroidery... It was that good!!
