Out of the world trekking experience- a 10km trek challenging the second highest peak in Kerala at 7200 feet. Start early. Report at the starting point at around 530pm to avoid the hot mid day sun on your way back.
The region being abundant in biodiversity, you may get to encounter the Nilgiri thar, falcons & other raptors along with the Rhododendrons, which are found only in altitudes above 3000feet.

The best trek experience ever.. as the highway work is going on, try to reach the base camp atleast before 7.30 AM. They are blocking the road for 12 hours from 7.30 AM. If you are late, You might have to walk 2-3 kilometers to reach the base itself.

Is was an awesome experience to climb the peak. View of sunrise from the peak is beautiful. We can see the whole 360 degree horizon from the top. Overall it's a better trucking experience. Everyone go and explore.

Current condition: the Kerala tourism forest office isn't functional anymore and is closed without any notice. If you want to trek, try asking the locals if they can take you there(and pay them ofcourse). It's quite challenging and not for first time trekkers.
To reach chokramudi peak, you will have to climb a relatively smaller peak called kurusimala and then trek to chokramudi trek. It would cost you quite some energy. Therefore equip yourself with snacks and plenty of water. The whole trek would take 2.5 hours one way.

Awesome spot for seeing sunrise. You have trek 3.5 KM to get to the spot, and also have to take tickets from the guard's. For indian's it's 400 per head and for foreigners it's 600 per head

Second highest peak in Kerala. Six thousand something feet above sea level. Rock and grassland terrain. Little bit difficult to beginners. Experts can do it within one hour. East side of chokramudi is bison valley and west side is Lockhart tea estate. The entrance trekking is at starting point of gap road. NB: trekking without permission of forest department or adventure academy is punishable. Please don't bring plastic here.
