Carmelagiri Elephant Park

It was truly a wild experience. The elephants are well-trained. The ticket per person is 700 rs, which is quite high. If you want to feed the elephant, there's an additional cost of 150 rs. The ride lasts about 10 minutes.

Carmelagiri Elephant Park is one of the main attractions of Munnar. This park is 6 Kms from Munnar Town, on the way to Mattupatti Dam and you can reach there in 15 mins from Munnar town.

The first time we visited was at 12 PM and the park was fully crowded due to Pongal holidays and we returned back. We asked the staff at ticket counter and we were informed that the park timings will be from 9 AM to 6 PM. So we planned earlier and came at 9 AM sharp the next day and was able to book a slot for elephant ride immediately.

We saw 4-5 elephants there. They are charging Rs.700 per person including children and a elephant can fit a family of 3 maximum including parents and a kid.

You can also opt for professional DSLR photography at a cost of Rs.300 and they will immediately transfer your pics to your mobile phone, once the ride is over. Their photographs are very good and I suggest you to try them if possible. Also, you can feed pineapple to elephants at extra charges of Rs.100.

It's hardly 50 metres of elephant ride and the duration will be 10-15 mins approx. Yes, the charges are bit high for this short duration, but when seeing the happiness in child's face, it made me feel like the amount spent is worthy. If you have kids or if you haven't tried a elephant ride earlier, you can surely try here.

Restrooms are available. Parking space can fit 25 vehicles at a time. Snacks options are also available there.

Usually there will be a wait of atleast 30 mins to 1 hour and if you don't want to wait, I suggest you to go by 9 to 9:30 AM in the morning.

One of the best Elephants parks in kerela. Price was 700/- per person and photography by them for 300/-. We feed the elephant for 100/-. 15 min ride was best thing in Munnar. Highly recommended.

Such a awesome experience I had in my life. Though it was scary initially. Have to wait for 10-20 mins to take elephant ride and I felt time duration is 10 mins to take 1 round in small mud road. Per head 700/- and photo it’s extra have to pay , you will get around 10-15 photos taking in DSLR. And if you want feed animal , 100 /- extra for pineapple bucket. The best thing of the pics are so clear and elephant also will give pose 😝.
Well trained elephants and only the scary thing is, as it’s a mud road and there is a upside down where it’s completely a small bend curve. Elephant should take step properly, while it’s taking we feel like, we are falling but we don’t actually. Do not miss if you visit Munnar as it’s on the way.

Wonderful experience but the price is way too high. 700 for adults and 350 for children below the age of 5 its for just 5 mins ride and hardly 50 mts will be covered

Overall it was a different kind of experience.

But few major cons-

1. Elephants are too old and not properly maintained. Looks like Peta should visit them.

2. They are earning 10lacs+ in a day but facilities are pathetic like parking space and washroom cleanliness.

3. Elephant ride area could have been plain trek instead of a slope that way it's comfortable for both elephant and human being.

4. Location is fine and it's somewhere between anachal and munnar bus stand.

5. Limited food options like popcorn and tea,coffee available

6. Waiting period is 3h on peak days so book tickets in advance.

We recently visited, and here, we were offered an incredible experience at a reasonable price. The gentle giants provided a unique and memorable ride through beautiful surroundings.

Very good place for kids and adults. People are very friendly. Also you can find good photographers inside this park so don't miss it if you love elephants and ride.

Elephants are so cute, ride was really awesome, while feeding for them you will feel very good. Charges are very high. 700 per head. For children below 5 half charges but no where displayed the rates. 200 meters distance walk per ride maximum 3 persons, Trainer will not sit on elephant but he will come along with us by walk. Superb experience....

One of a kind experience with these humble jumbos, if you happen to be visiting on weekends or public holidays, get ready to wait for more than an hour or 2, for your chance.

Elephant park situated in the ghat section of Munnar in Kerala. This park has variety of elephants which varies in Size colours and also age.

These elephants dance and behave according to the commands given by trainers. We can buy food baskets here to feed elephants

No outside food is allowed. We can also go on a paid ride on these elephants. Overall a good experience for animal lovers specially for elephant lovers ❤

My teenager son loved the ride, my wife liked the pics which they took.

I didn't take the ride and wasn't too impressed with the whole set up but I was popular & busy

Ride is 700 per person, they take 300 bucks mote for taking the pics and transferring them to you. 150 bucks for the pineapple which you get to feed the elephant while sitting stop it and whatever you spend at the small refreshments shop they have.

Awww... Must visit places for kids and elders too. The cost is a little higher (700 per person) for a 10 minute ride but still worth it for the smile on your kids face. And where you are spending that much..will definitely suggest to pay an extra 300 for the capturing beautiful picture for your wall of moments that your mobile camera can't .

Good place to have fun for kids. They take us for a 10 minutes ride. It was quick. But still neatly organized. You can also feed the elephant paying a certain extra amount (100/-). And also pay for a photographer , if you want good photos . It will be difficult to take pictures in your phones. He takes around 20-30 pictures, so it's worth to pay for a photographer. It costs around 300/-. Total time spent in this place is around 30- 45 min.

Here there is no charge for visiting the park. But chargeable for feeding and riding elephant. A very good experience for hthe kids

waited for an hour. but enjoyed the experience. One thing that i strongly hated were the trainers hitting the elephants on their legs. its absolutely no-no especially when i take my son for this experience.

While we did not ride any elephants here, we did take the opportunity to feed one some pineapples. The elephants here look healthy and well looked after.

It was a great to experience the majestic elephants in this park. It was obvious that the elephant trainers and handlers take care of the elephants on priority. One of the rides was paused for 10 mins for the elephant to drink water, just watching the elephant drink out of a faucet was unique. Finally the option to feed pineapples to the elephants at the end of the ride is also an experience.
