Last of the standing studios from the colonial era. Though, financially unstable, the studio still maintains its dimming dignity. My better half took a portrait of me standing in front of the DHR toy-train engine's 1:72 scale model.

Pious of a place for a place for a photographer and mountain lover. Been a frequent visitor of Darjeeling during my childhood, and being a landscape photography lover, I have always been fond of this place and their prints. None of my visits to Darjeeling were complete without visiting this place and buying a couple of postcards from here. I remember buying my first camera here.

Das studio, established in 1927 and relocated to it’s current location in 1950 has been a well known landmark for tourists and photographers. Established by Thakur Das Pradhan, who was a photographer and explorer, this place has grown beyond just a photo studio. As you walk into the studio you can find prints and postcards capturing landscapes of the Mt. Everest, Mt Kanchenjunga, Kala Patthar, Sandakphu and Phalut, Dzongri, Mt, Kilimanjaro and many more. You can as well find pictures of Darjeeling and near by towns. It has captures back from the days of early 1900s. To keep up with changing times, they have evolved into Digital technology. I really felt the peace and calmness as soon as I entered the studio. Though it's but chaotic outside. As soon as we enter the studio, it gives lot of joy to the soul. Breathtaking photographs and art pieces.
Kindly do not bargain if you are buying anything from that place. It's an artists temple.

Das Studio is an excellent photo studio to visit on the Mall Road of Darjeeling. The lovely photos of Darjeeling on display in the shop windows immediately attracted us in to the shop. There are many large blow-ups of the Himalayas, the toy train, the local people and the heritage buildings of the hill town as well as many paintings on display which one can purchase as souvenirs and works of art. Besides, one can purchase, picture postcards, stationary, digital camera accessories, batteries, and other souvenirs like keychains and fridge magnets which are also available here. Das Studio was established in 1927 and has been at the present premises since 1950.

A shop which is going to complete a Century without major change should I need to say anything about it ? I was posted during 1989- 1996 it really memorable span of my life. DAS STUDIO is one of course.

Black and white, light and dark shades beautifully depict the portrait of darjeeling especially colonial era. Das studio has preserved that sense and has been transferring it to younger generations as well. Centrally located at mall, Das studio has been promoting the iconic himalayan railway legacy in water color also. spent here few hours, felt fully satisfied with the cool breeze of himalayan mystical weather.

Got tons of memories back from school days and it always brings a goosebumps remembering all those beautiful times visiting the iconic Das Studio. Staffs have ways been very courteous and helpful. Remember those days when we used to be so happy buying those postcard size pictures and keeping a collection of it. We used to visit here to develop photographs. So amazing to see it still being there after so may years.

It is located at the heart of the city,Darjeeling. It is a very authentic and good studio for photography as well as very old.

Very good studio. Has got lot of space. Very nice people, very professional. Got a good quality print out of my picture and a good memory card. Prompt service.
Also got to meet the owner who kindly gave good tips on how I can improvise the print.
