A perfect place to revive in the lap of nature. I love birds and here you don't need to go anywhere, just pull open the curtains and they are there doing their chores. I made a note of at least 10 different species of Himalayan birds.
Sharon and Sanjeev are great hosts. They make you really comfortable. They introduce you to some of the exclusive experiences that Darjeeling has to offer.

We celebrated our first anniversary at The English Cottage, and it surpassed all expectations. The owner kindly upgraded our room to the luxurious Azalea suite, adding an extra touch of indulgence to our special day. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and nestled among mountains, waking up to the chirping of birds was quite an experience.

The complimentary breakfast spread was a delight, featuring a variety of options including bread, baked beans, a choice of eggs, sausages, creamy porridge, au gratin, chicken and potato chops, and a selection of fresh fruits. After indulging in this feast, we spent leisurely hours on the common deck area, reading books while soaking in the views of the peaks.

Our suite was equipped with every amenity imaginable for a comfortable stay. From efficient room heaters to cozy electric bed heaters, and continuous hot water supply in the washroom, every detail was meticulously taken care of to ensure our utmost comfort.

Without hesitation, I highly recommend The English Cottage for an unforgettable and truly memorable stay in Darjeeling.

The English Cottage sets itself apart from other properties with its genuine passion and personal service, a stark contrast to typical hotels. Our four-night stay was unforgettable, highlighted by excellent breakfasts featuring a diverse array of cuisines. Customized egg dishes were promptly prepared upon request.
The inviting drawing and dining room fostered a sense of home. The spacious suites, deluxe cottages, and attic rooms boasted breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Our luxurious Azelia Suite provided ample space and all essential amenities. The deck provided picturesque vistas and stunning views, and evenings by the bonfire facilitated delightful conversations and new connections.
The English Cottage offers a sophisticated retreat where every comfort is effortlessly provided leaving us wanting for nothing. Its prime location near Mall Road simplified exploration. Despite initial doubts, it exceeded the allure of fancy hotels, leaving us eagerly anticipating our next visit. I wholeheartedly endorse this haven for its class, elegance, comfort, attentive service, and exceptional breakfasts, along with its warm and hospitable staff. As a seasoned traveler and longstanding TripAdvisor member, I confidently rank this property among the finest worldwide.

The first view of the property on the way down already set a breathtaking tone for our stay at the English Cottage.

We were privileged enough to experience 2 different parts of the property - the quaint and homely Attic room in warm wood and upholstery. Then the spectacular 180 Room that exuded quiet luxury while providing an undisturbed platform to soak in the beauty of the mountainside.

We were lucky to meet Sharon &, Sanjeev, enjoy the sumptuous home-cooked breakfast each morning along with some great conversation & suggestions.

What a lovely, peaceful experience in a place that's becoming more crowded with each season.

Spent 3 days at this gorgeous property. Mrs.Plant is such a warm, mindful and caring host. Our room was always kept warm before we arrived, the staff was very helpful, the breakfast was hearty and delicious and the home itself is a delight! Mrs.Plant gave us many recommendations of things to do based on our interest areas and we ended up doing most of what she suggested. Look forward to visiting again and it goes without saying that any trip to Darjeeling, will choose The English Cottage. (PS - The view of Mt.Kanchenjunga from the rooms is to die for!)

This place feels like a time travel to the Darjeeling of 90s which was full of life yet so serene calm and beautiful. Although it just takes about 7 to 8 mins to reach the Mall Road yet this place seems like a different world in itself . It isn't just the unobstructed view or the architecture of the place that one falls in love with but also the hospitality and the way one is made to feel at home and treated with so much warmth . The breakfast cannot go unmentioned ... What they serve is absolutely worth breaking the fast. It's yum!!!!!!!!! Darjeeling is said to be the Queen of hills and the English Cottage is no less than a palace . Two days weren't enough to experience the beauty of English Cottage.

It’s a wonderfully located home stay, far from the madding crowd, yet close enough to Chowrasta. Sweeping views on good days, well appointed rooms, tastefully done. The personal care of the hosts Sharon and Sanjeev are a highlight. Special mention of the breakfast, the four days we stayed, each day was a different breakfast. Sharon has upped her game with the menu she offers.
A must stay if you visit.

I don't usually post publicly. This place has a very comforting style. It's aesthetics are like in the 19's. The rooms are very warm with heated blankets and spot on room service. The views are to die for, this review cannot recommend this enough. This place makes you forget all your problems sitting in a nice cosy place in the mountains. If you haven't seen the English cottage, you haven't seen the beauty of Darjeeling and India. Amazing place!

I was in Darjeeling on my way for a trek and on a friend’s suggestion I went to see The English cottage . I had no idea that such a beautiful place existed there tucked in the centre yet quiet with a breathtaking view of the magnificent Kanchanjanga from every terrace surrounding the tastefully done rooms . A class apart ! Even more interesting was the warm hospitality of the owners who take a personal interest in running the place . There is enough to see and do there for a good 3-4 days . My next trip to Darjeeling will only be to stay at The English cottage !🤗

After a long and arduous trek in the mountains The English Cottage is the perfect balm you need to be nurtured and well looked after. Sharon and Sanjiv are exceptionally warm and caring hosts who ensure you are looked after meticulously. Every room in this beautifully designed home is equally well organised with the greatest attention to detail - warm cozy beds with electric blankets, soft dreamy pillows and clean sheets and warm comforters, heater in the bathrooms, running hot water, natural toiletries, well equipped kitchenette and a spotlessly clean home to de-stress in. Every room has access to outdoor decks with stunning glorious views of the snow capped Himalayas. The staff is very pleasant and helpful providing impeccable service. The breakfast is a generous spread of local and English made to order dishes that are generously served piping hot straight from the kitchen. Sharon and Sanjiv’s personal touch makes you want to stay on and on. We will be back soon just to enjoy this wonderful home with its warm hospitality. Thank you for a very special time.

The English Cottage has an enviable location, with superbly appointed rooms. The design of the house is marvellous, with excellent attention to detail (I have a keen eye for these things!). The hosts, Sharon and Sanjeev, are hospitable, warm and generous and it was a pleasure to spend some time with them. If I do travel to Darjeeling again, this is where I will stay! Gopakumar Menon

English Cottage is a jewel tucked away in the heart of Darjeeling. The views from the cottage are breathtaking. We will never forget the sunrise seen from the room.
The hosts Sharon and Sanjeev are very friendly, we have lovely breakfast conversations with them. Highly recommend place for all travellers.

We (the wife & I) feel really lucky to have come to such a nice place. Sharon and Sanjeev are a delightful couple who are symbolic of the old-world classy Darjeeling, with amazing conversations and extremely warm hospitality. The homestay is an absolute delight with some super views. It actually has a better view of the Kangchenjunga than many of the tourist spots. Particularly the 180 degree room. I can't recommend this place highly enough. The couple made some wonderful recommendations for walks and trails, which added to our Darjeeling experience. The breakfasts were sumptuous and delicious, and the conversations during the breakfast added to the charm. One day we were blessed with the company of Mr Das from Das Studio Darjeeling (an iconic place) and his daughter, and their stories added to our experience here. Look forward to being here again soon.

The rooms and the experience is absolutely perfect, combined with the epic views of Kunchenjunga. The architecture and the little attention to details is mesmerising, lots to love and learn from this place. The cherry on the topping is that the hosts were amazing and helped us in any way possible, and I would definitely recommend English Cottage for your holidays in Darjeeling, it’s a no brainer.

Absolutely stunning property. Walking distance from everything major in Darjeeling. Everything around the house is super Scenic The rooms were great, the view is breathtaking. The hosts treated us more like family than guests. Sharon aunty organised some great treks and walks for us. The breakfasts she made, were perhaps the best I’ve ever eaten haha. The view of Kanchan junga range from our bed (and shower) was the cherry on the cake. All the staff is super efficient and the place is spotless clean. Could not have asked for a better place to explore and experience the magic of real Darjeeling from.

There are places you leave your heart behind. The English Cottage in Darjeeling is one such place. We spent 3 nights in this idyllic B&B, nestled in the quiet part of a very busy but beautiful town of Darjeeling. Strategically located- with the Mall being 5 to 10 minutes walking distance away, with an uninterrupted view of the mighty Himalayas, Kangchenjunga included, we spent most of our time idling in the deck, admiring the snow capped mountains in the horizon and the clouds rolling in the valley below.
The rooms are impeccably designed, with a breathtaking view, and the breakfast is sumptuous, served with love. Mrs Plant, Sharon and Jaxs - the owners of the B&B are gracious hosts, who welcome the guests to their home and hearts with love and warmth. Feels like staying with friends and family.

There are some places you fall instantly in love with and can never forget. The English Cottage is certainly one of the best of such places.
Our stay at The English Cottage was perhaps the most memorable vacation we have ever had. The cottage offers breathtakingly beautiful and uninterrupted views of the snow capped mountains, including the Kachenjunga. The aesthetically done interiors give out such positive vibes that even staying indoors is fun. It is amazing how the hosts have looked into every little detail and thought of every single requirement of the guests. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and each day it is different, offering lip-smacking home made specialities! Sharon and Sanjeev are super hosts and we have built a strong bond with them in these few days. I would love to stay at the English Cottage again in future .
