Karmi Peling Monastery

This place was turned into a Monastery in 1780 so already this is 243 years old. Before that this was the court of the rular of this region which was autonomous at that time. So the building itself is at least 300 years old. The age shows and you feel sad when you see that there's no effort on the part of administration to maintain and restore the place. The architecture is beautiful along with the frescoes that adorn the interior walls. It's a three story structure - the uppermost floor served as the residential part. The original woodwork along with the wooden shingles on the roof are still keeping the rain and cold away. Please visit the place before the frescoes peel off completely and don't forget to donate - think of it as an entry fee.

The roof was made by Woods. Now it has been renovated so, authenticity is decreased a little but you can see the old paintings on the wall which was made by natural colour.

This is one of the most significant place in India. Once used to be palace of Tibetan king Lt. Thendup, was converted to Buddhist monastery during 1780. This monastery is followers of tantrik Buddhism. Many old hand written books are preserved here. This place also have some ancient wall paintings which was done using natural pigments. You can feel the peace of nature and rejuvenate your soul. Special festival is organised during Buddha Purnima.
