Modern Book Centre has an extraordinarily broad selection of interesting books and a knowledgeable and attentive staff. It is a great pleasure to browse the shelves; they make the world seem like a fascinating place replete with stories to read and subjects to learn.

I live nearby for a few months every year, and I can’t tell you what a godsend this store has been. HUGE selection of English-language novels, some from this year - terrific anthologies. Basically, they kept me busy happily reading for six months. This year, on a whim, I texted the owner whether he might be able to preorder books for me and guess what??? He could and when I forgot, he still could. Prices are great, it’s a lovely bookstore atmosphere (not generic), truly fun to browse, well-organized, just a treat. Thanks, you all! I’ll see you soon!

Modern Book Centre in Trivandrum is a rare gem of a book shop, bigger than any that I had walked into in any city, with a thoughtful collection that is feast to eyes, and the staff who love both books and book lovers. Its right at the city centre at Gandhari Amman Kovil Road, at Pulimoodu, and its where I will be going each time I am in Trivandrum. Go in and you will come out with both books that you wanted to buy and books that you had to buy.

I'd recommend this place to anyone. Such a huge collection of books. Different genres, different editions, different languages, new releases. I even saw an everyman's edition here. If you don't find a book they can source it for you and they have also started shipping out books! They were also kind enough to let me film there :))) All the books are priced at MRP, which is a lil bumper.

My suggestion will be for them to possibly start a book subscription service around TVM. Sending out a book (new release or a cool edition) per month plan or something. I think this would attract more people to the store and would encourage more ppl to read!

A readers place of bliss!! I never knew a place like this existed in Trivandrum!! Books for all kinds of readers and a real massive collection. Anoop was so informative with recommendation especially for my children as they were searching for new authors to test and try. Highly recommend the store!!

One of the best book shops in Kerala. Amazingly rich collections of most geners including fiction and non-fiction. The display in wooden shelves and racks is exquisite. Surprisingly polite and friendly staff, especially considering how staff at other established book shops interact with customers. My only regret is not being able to attend more time here.

Best store for books in trivandrum region. 4 decades of presence. It's really hard not to pick up a title from their massive store and come out empty handed. In these modern times, the joy of holding a book and completing it is a pleasure. I would recommend every book lover to visit and check the place. Even through they are in the heart of the city of Thiruvananthapuram, they have in house parking facility. They have a knowledgeable team who can help you navigate through the titles. They will also source titles if it's not readily available.

What I have found is that no visit to the city is complete without visiting my favourite bookstore. Though in Trivandrum, one of the setbacks that affects your reading life is that you are located in a rural area and you have to travel a lot to reach a library or a decent bookstore though you can compensate this to some extent with the help of your e-reader.

Whenever I visit the city, I buy books that related to the subject I teach, which is English literature and also books that are interesting to me. What I understand is that the choice of popular books is so wide that one has to make careful selections while buying, be it for yourself or for your kid. I was really surprised to find some of the books that I was looking for in the store especially feel good books such as by Haenim Sunim or popular philosophy books such Ikigai or Nunchi or Kaizen.

The bookstore has a collection of so many popular books that always in demand. I also love the half-price section from where I have picked up books that are related to my reading interests. The service of the staff is also exceptionally good in locating and ordering books. I hope to visit the store again soon!

Hands down Trivandrum's best book shop. Huge number and range of volumes. All books digitally catalogued so you can easily find out if things are in stock. But you can also easily spend an hour or more happily browsing the shelves!

The Modern Book Center brings back a lot of Nostalgia for me. One of the oldest Book Shop in the city with an amazing collection of books for all ages. The owner Mr Anoop is very versed with almost all the books in this store and can provide good suggestions for books if you can give him the genre you're looking for. Highly recommend this place to all book lovers and not so reading types to kick start your reading habits. My kids had a lovely time spending to pick and choose their books even sitting on the chair very silently. its one of the few occasions where we a got them to sit for more than 5 mins at a time. The Collection of books for kids is amazing. Just set your kid free in this store and they will pick something they like.

Best place in Trivandrum for English books. The store is choke filled with books. This is the type of book store, pre internet or online search times, where you would go on a afternoon to discover a new book to buy. Not to mention, friendly and knowledgeable staff and good parking right under the store
