Small, beautiful, well maintained place. Its not huge compared to other palaces, but has a great collection of old tools, musical instruments, utensils and other stuffs.
It'll be ₹25/adult and extra ₹20 for camera pass.
There are resting places around the palace. Calm environment.

The palace was built in the 17th century during the reign of Ummayama Rani. Koyikkal Palace is now under the governance of the archaeological department of India and part of it has been made into a history museum with the artifacts collected from the surrounding locality.

Good palace to know about the history of Umayamma Rani, the queen of the Venad dynasty from 1677 to 1684.

It has lot of ancient inventories which are interesting to know. I'm a fan of history so loved it. They explained the history pretty well too

Is this the place built by umaiammai maharani of travancore 1677 to 1684. Now it seems two storey small building. When we imagined during the earlier stage of kingdom and it is considered to be surrounded by the forest those days. Still looking best(yes after the renovation by the govt). Can give intro to the kids.

A short drive to Nedumangad, Koyikkal Palace is easy to reach from Trivandrum City. Parking is adequate for up to 10 cars.

The Palace is maintained by the State’s Archeological Department and I must say it is well maintained.

One must buy separate tickets for entry and photography.

The museum is well maintained and hosts a collection of artefacts from 16th and 17th century Kerala. It is a window in to our State’s cultural history.

It’s a short drive, a good experience. I’d advice to visit the place around 3pm, so you can come out for the best lighting for photography.

Koyikkal Palace, the seat of the Perakathavazhy Swaroopam, a collateral branch of Venad is a living symbol of the extravagance of traditional architecture which prevailed in Kerala during the Seventeenth century. This old palace is a traditionally built double storeyed Nalukettu with a gabled roof, ornate pillars, long corridors in which wood is used in lavish scale for its entire construction.
Â
This two storeyed royal residence symbolizes the stylistic perfection of medieval architecture of South Kerala and regarded as the most ancient palace built by the rulers of Venad. Like other palaces of Travancore, there used stone pipes for the underground drainage system to let out water from the Nadumuttam, the courtyard at the centre.

The Nadumuttam is paved with granite. There are beautifully carved granite pillars in the four sides of the veranda around the nadumuttam. There is a nilavara or strong room in one of the rooms on the ground floor of the palace, which is said to be connected with an underground passage to another palace at Karupur. But there is no archaeological evidence to prove this story. The palace is almost like a squareThe Numismatics Museum which functions on the ground floor of the Koyikkal Palace provides valuable information on the origin of the coins, related historical events, trade relationships, other socio-political relationships and the cultural heritage of the country.

This historically important monument is located at Nedumangad, a suburb around 20 Kms from Trivandrum railway station. The 300 plus years old Koyikkal Palace is a double storied structure famous for its distinct gabled roofs built by the Venad Royal Family. It has been converted as a Folklore and a Numismatics Museum in 1992.
The distinctive vintage collection includes musical instruments, household utensils, measuring instruments, models of folk arts and many more of those days. Old manuscripts along with ornaments and decor items used by the erstwhile Royal family is yet another attraction and provides a valuable insight into the past of Kerala. The rarest coin collections speak of the dynasty’s trade relations with many different countries.

The Koyikkal Palace situated in Nedumangadu, Thiruvananthapuram was built in the 16th century for Umayamma Rani. The palace is a double-storey building, built in the conventional nalukettu architectural style of Kerala with sloping gabled roofs, and large rooms built around an open central courtyard. Well maintained palace and surroundings.
