Sub Registrar Office having jurisdiction over the Thiruvananthapuram city. It is a century old office dating back to pre independence days .
Place to do the registration of landed property bought and sold. Place to register your will testament or codicil by which you can bequeath your property on a heir which will help him establish his title in the event of death of testator. Intestate succession is a tedious business.
You can apply and get the certified copies of previous documents of property. Place to get non encumbrance certificate of your property in case you need loan pledging property as collateral security.
Sub Registrar also has the power of marriage registrar under Special Marriage Act . Two unmarried persons of legally marriable age irrespective of religious affiliation can apply for the formalization of their marriage before the sub Registrar. One of the persons must be resident of this jurisdiction and notice of marriage must be given 30 days before marriage.

Nice Government office

Visited this office today. The staff was directed to be here from 7am onwards. Even at 8.30am, only two out of eleven officials were present.

The Sub Registrar, Mr. M. Watson arrived only by 8.35am when he was to be here by 7am.

The Office is now functioning efficiently. No complaints received.

Entrance from main road is much rush and no parking for four wheel vehicles. And the entrance is much steep and so much difficult to enter into the main road.

Very less parking ,

Sub registrars office. Almost about to crumble despite the importance of the function it carries. No parking area for any kind of vehicles. Located next to the busy road. So don’t even think of parking and dropping near to this office. Have to park somewhere far.
