If you speak Hungarian, then you receive a history lesson on so many different aspects of the culture that I was not even aware off. Its a very well organised open museum for all languages , generations and religions . One of the most interesting and interactive that I have been in a long time.

Very interesting village which stay in another part of Szentendre. It is a 80ha village with museum, park, and outdoor activities: cycling, trekking, walking. Love a day spend there with a big group. Food from the restaurant is great, professional.

One of my favorite spots in Hungary. A big park with rebuilt Hungarian farms and houses that not only give you a deep impression of the simple life people lived, but also an insight into the challenges. Moreover it’s an ode to artisan skills and an inspiring ramble through history. A truly delightful full day program.

I enjoyed the place. We came a bit late in the afternoon and we were not able to see all, but definitely coming back to see all the beautiful places. So comfortable place to come with big family, many kids and dogs. Everything is well taken cared of
Train drivers were very polite and attentive. They also have the cutest application that makes easier to know where are you and what to visit.
Also I am in love with their museum shop!

Maybe the best Hungarian museum to understand Hungarian history spread across Europe and a detailed account of the origins and sociology of the Magyars.

Truly impressive. Lots of walking. Spread across hundreds of acres. And passionate guides and volunteers who love telling you more.

Extremely impressive and well worth visiting. Kid friendly. Lots of places to eat and good food.

This skanzen is amazing! It is really huge, I recommend to spend all day there. The whole place is divided into different sections and there is a lot to see in each one of them. You can buy a ticket for the local skanzen train and get off in the section you choose. It is possible to buy some small refreshment on several places. There is also a tiny bakery with home made bread which tastes so delicious! If you fancy a proper meal you can try the local restaurant. One of the most stunning spots in the skanzen is Transylvania!

Nice place for a family trip. You will know how Hungarian farmers work and live in the past. You can choose hip on hip off train trip to travel in the village, the train ticket is valid during the day. You can also take a walk and visit any house you want. The handmade cookies, bread, honey can get in the village as well. I like the windmill, looks so cute.

Super nice place to visit to get a bit to know the different parts of Hungary and how people lived in the 19th and 20th century in rural Hungary. There is a nice bakery and a restaurant however I would suggest to bring some sandwiches so you can have a nice little picnic around the large area of the park. Nice playgrounds with fun games for children.

I wasn't expecting much but this was a great place to go and learn about life in Hungary years ago. We were only there a couple of hours, but you could spend days here. We cooked a little goulash, ate someone elses and had a nice dessert.

It is AMAZING place. I think it should be mentioned in all Budapest guides as must! Beautiful, authentic, charming, well maintained. Nice landscapes in the background. And a lot of fresh air. Also, check the Soviet Union museum: so detailed and real. 10 from 5! Exceed the expectations! Thanks to all guides and staff! Great job.

The museum demonstrates the houses of the Hungarian people in the olden days. It was like a real community with Barber shops, houses of the rich and poor Walking down the pavements, it feels like you’re walking through an authentic Hungarian countryside village, with the farming animals: an amiable dogs, gigantic rabbits, and a meshing sheep herd.

The Hungarian Open Air Museum (Skanzen), is basically a museum of folk architecture in Szentendre.
To be honest, I loooved the atmosphere of the old countryside buildings.🏚🐄🐓 My fiancé had the idea to rent bicycles for looking around, and it was an excellent decision! The area is sooo big, and there are sooo many things to see!
The best thing is that I really felt myself trown back around 150-200 years.. It was definitely a great and unique way to experience Hungarian history.🇭🇺♥

It's a lovely display of Hungarian history. You can spend more than one day there looking at living spaces and professions of the 1800s and 1900s gathered from different parts of the country. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also have plenty of activities for children such as finger puppet making and other crafts. Get ready to walk a lot!

You can feel the beautiful atmosphere if you visit the Skanzen. This place give some knowledge how the people live in the country side and help you to became familiar with the hungarian traditions. There are some farm animals near to the entrance.

Part of our tour through Hungary.
It's a must if you are interested in Hungarian culture and history.
We had only one day for visiting but this wasn't enough. We decided to come back soon. My daughters loved it. Especially the live show in the pharmacy in the Erdely city and the demonstration in the mill with the donkey. Making pearl necklaces was also a great experience for my children. Many thanks to all the employees of the Skanzen, you gave us a super day
