Lovely place to visit. Did this as part of a Day tour of Five Islands from Split. We managed to spend 2.5 hours here to explore and enjoy lunch. Head up main Street and climb the 156 steps for excellent views over the rooftops leading out over the harbour filled with boats and yachts.

Highly reccomend for 3 nights / 4 days. I highly recommend you do NOT waste your money going to Carpe Diem beach club. It's the biggest rip off on the island

Try all the difference beaches and water spots. Rent a car or buggy for a few hours ( only go early morning or evening it's too do )
Rent a speedboat or go for a boat cruise

Beautiful place to visit. We were there in May when it wasn't too busy.
Walking around the streets and alleyways just off the port area is very rewarding.
The fort overlooking the town is well worth the taxi ride up (or walk of you're feeling fit!)

What a mesmerizing beauty this island has! Clean, pristine waters, blue colored sky up and blue colored water I mean seriously felt like it's all edited but no. You need to visit this to experience it. One of the best Island in Europe.

I love Hvar, the sea, beaches, food, weather and even people are pretty good! To get real authentic meals you kind of have to look past the touristy area. Bol is also beautiful, the water in Hvar and Bol (and pretty much everywhere is gorgeous). Best to rent car and drive up and down the coast. Try out "Sail Week" trips! June-September. Very cool! see lots of different islands! Meets some cool people.

we did a hike up to the fortress and walked back down. We also walked around the town in the direction of the beach where we visited a bar l which was really nice. I reccomend taking loads of water as the hike has loads of steps

Really a nice and beautiful place to go!
Check the ferry options and schedules before deciding: they’re three companies available- prices differs depending on the time.transfer takes around 1 hour.
The city has a mixed of historical places, nice restaurants/bar and beach clubs.
Also some awesome landscapes if you move a little far from downtown and walk to peaceful beaches nearby.

Beautiful island with so many interesting places to see. One can book a stay in the resorts here and enjoy the night life.
The view from the fort is breathtaking.

There is an emergency medical facility also available on this island. People here are too generous.

There are vast fields of lavender, ancient olive trees and vineyards, in immaculate harmony between man and nature.

There are wine and olives, so a guest wishing to get closer to nature will stop at a small inn (Hvar "konoba") rather than a top quality restaurant.

He will taste real home-made wine instead of some famous sparkling wine, he will sing the old island songs and forget the monotony of the everyday routine.
Every guest is really a Guest here.

Whatever you are looking for on your vacation, you may find it here; night life and cultural attractions of cosmopolitan Hvar town, boat excursions to Pakleni Islands, sandy beaches near Jelsa, the ancient town Stari Grad in which past centuries mingle with modern tourist facilities,
heavenly beaches under pine trees in Zavala, exotic atmosphere of south cliffs in Ivan Dolac, Sveta Nedjelja or MIlna, the "little Venice" ambient in Vrboska, drive trough and sense lavander fields near Zastrazisce, Gdinj and Bogomolje, peaceful secluded bays near Sucuraj ... this is just a fraction of it ... you need to explore it.

Due to its mild climate, the scent of lavender and other aromatic herbs which fills the air, the island of Hvar has been known as a health resort since 1868.

Besides health benefits and natural beauties, the city of Hvar is famous for its cultural heritage. The biggest main square in Dalmatia (an area of 4500m2), with many renaissance and baroque palaces, dominates the city which is surrounded by fortification walls dating from the 7th century.

Therefore, it is no wonder "The Traveller" has given the island of Hvar not only the flattering but also well deserved title of being one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world.

Hvar is a beautiful island to explore. I explored a tiny part like 20%. As I visited Hvar on Nov 1st and 31st Oct is the last day for the season there are very less shops and less boat ride to islands. But i explored on my own to 2 beaches and it’s too peaceful.

In love with this place.. it so so so beautiful. Love the vibe of the place. Love it's small secluded beaches. Love the people. Love the food. Everything is perfect. We stayed walking distance from Pokonji Dol, it's a lovely family beach. But you have to visit the Makicevica beach, famously called the Robinson beach because of the Robinson restaurant at the beach. It's a secluded beach which can be reached by a small walk along the coast from Pokonji dol. There are several sign boards along the way to ensure you don't get lost and it's pretty simple, you just need to follow the coast. So there are 2 small white pebble beaches, we personally loved the 2nd one.. It has the most clearest water.. We carried our food basket along with some cold beers. And this place was the perfect place to just sit, swim and chill.. We did a little of snorkelling and it was great.. We recommend you wear your water skin shoes and carry your snorkelling gear. Also we took along out float and it was the most fun experience.. Please please do visit this place when in Hvar.. we are sure you too will fall in love with Makecevica😍

As possibly the sunniest and most popular of the coastal islands in Croatia, Hvar makes either an ideal day trip from Split or a 2-3 night mini-break if you wish to explore more of the island and enjoy the vibrant nightlife.
Whether exploring the harbour and old town, climbing to the Spanish Fortress for spectacular views, visiting neighbouring islands by sea kayak, venturing inland to discover vineyards and lavender fields or driving to some of the most secluded coves - there is something for everyone here. And don't forget the great restaurants and beach clubs...
During July and August there are regular ferries from Split run by Jadrolinija, Krilo and TP Line. The journey takes about 1 hour. Ferries are less frequent in May and September and outside of these months a day trip is much harder to organise as sailing are only a couple of times a day and weather dependent.

Hvar island is one of the most popular islands in the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. 🇭🇷 And that is for a reason!

I loved strolling around Hvar town and feel the history of the place. You’ll find 13th century city walls, a hilltop fortress, gothic palaces, lovely medieval streets and so many restaurants and bars. ☀

Stari Grad, located at the other side of the island, is less visited than Hvar town, wich makes it even more charming. There are cute narrow streets, churches, viewpoints and incredible wine tastings. 🧡 Thank you Sail Croatia for showing me around these beautiful islands!

Most beautiful Croatian Island in my opinion... Great restaurants, interesting places to visit as fortresses, churches and beaches. Worth the visit for sure. You can take the ferry for a day trip (it's about 1 hour from Split) but I would stay longer. Ate least 2 days.

Full of beauty and attractions, this island will provide to you wonderful experiences. You can rent a motorcycle to know the different beaches around (all paradisiacs) or a boat to get to the islands nearby. Full of good restaurants and a really well served night life. Indescribable, just go and see with your eyes.

Amazing island with so many places to enjoy and very different small towns from trendy Hvar to sleepy Stari Grad to little gems of Vrboska and Jelsa with old buildings and nice restaurants and beautiful beaches. I will present selection of photos I have collected during the years to show part of the beauty you will experience when visit my favorite island. And do go to the less visited eastern part of the island as well as southern part with little gems from Pitve above Jelsa to Zavala and Sveta Nedjelja on southern side of island after you leave Pitve through interesting tunnel. And you will be rewarded with amazing view on the sea and islands with some nice beaches. Now there is traffic light in front of the tunnel and before they were using talkie-walkies as only one car can pass and in the tunnel there is only one place where you can wait for other car to pass by you. I remember that there were situations with crazy stubborn people who were in the tunnel on both were not ready to go back!

I would definitely recommend to visit this island if you are in split Croatia. I wouldn’t spend more than a day here and it’s pretty expensive however worth visiting . You have to take a ferry from split to get here . Night life and day life equally are good . They have good restaurants around too

Beautiful island with a lovely harbour. I spent 2 days here. I recommend visiting nearby islands. You can get a boat near the harbour every hour. There are packages where you can do island hopping although it is a bit overpriced. The islands have some of the most stunning beaches. The Nightlife and Food in Hvar is good. Overall a wonderful experience.

Very beautiful 🤩 and clean, gorgeous island and coast line. Adding to that also safe and does not have the immigrant problem from 3rd world countries that you see in Western Europe. Not politically correct but it’s important to speak the truth.

Better option than Split. One island has everything you need for a coastal holiday. Use the buses as seen in the attached image. Its much cheaper than taxis. Lots of beaches with clean water. After spending few days, you wont want to leave.
