Very interesting collection of Croatian art, well-curated and beautifully presented 😍 I got a really good overview of the artistic development in Croatian art, from the Venetian Republic, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Kingdom, and socialist Yugoslavia to the Republic of Croatia. There were only a few visitors to the Museum. Good for me, but visit it, if you like art‼ It is worth a visit: The Museum is a small quiet paradise in the busy city of Split and after enjoying the art you can take a break in the museum café.

i would 100% recommend this to any art lover visiting Split. they had two exhibitions on, tickets to both were only €5 each, so €10 in total. i believe one of the exhibitions is temporary and the other permanent. the permanent exhibition is brilliant for art lovers who are interested in the various artist movements since the venetian style. the temporary exhibition was about art as social and political criticism and combined photography, film and visual installations, articles and paintings about croatia's recent political past. a second part of the temporary exhibition considered acts of slowness in our fast-paced lives. i really recommend a visit here! tickets can be purchased on the door and there is also a small gift shop.

This is very interesting place and I realy loved it! Tickets are 5€ per adult visitor and its absolutely worth because this place is going to take you for around hour trip through different art styles in Croatia. You can find here everything -traditional paintings of old masters, impressionistic paintings, caricatures, interesting sculptures and modern, experimental forms. I apreaciate it and few creations really stuck into my mind. This museum makes me wonder-how it is possible that so many styles of art were present in Croatia and how much some artists were inspired by World known artists like Van Gogh, Beksinski, Monet, Salvador Dahli, Stanislaw Witkacy (and how it might be a coincidence that some paintings reminds me of them). It was fascinating and I hope that maby one day I may visit it again.

A decent selection of art works, upstairs a collection of pieces from the romance, mostly religiously inspired. Downstairs a fair selection of more modern political events. A must visit if you ask me. Prices were rally fair, 40 hkr for adults and 20 hkr for adolescents.

The museum offers a large collection of works in both their permanent exhibition and temporary contemporary art exhibition. I appreciate that descriptions are also translated in English. Ticket prices are low, and you can easily spend at least 2 hours here.

Fine Croatian Art indeed! You should definitely visit this beautiful, large museum while in Split!
Presenting the Croatian art evolution in the last 700 years in a very well organized manner, this museum put to the public some of the most representative pieces from the Croatian artists that led its movement through one of the most beautiful and mature form.
The temporary exhibition gave me the opportunity to reflect upon the universality the beauty can be represented despite cultural background differences. I had an amazing experience there, good job!

Beautiful art gallery with local artists from the early times until now. Especially if you enjoy modern art, starting from the 1920s-1930s going on until recent I highly recommend visiting. Some humoristic aspects especially in the recent gallery can be found.
Also not too crowded and very serene, if you have enough of all the h/bustling around in the palace....

The garden and the writings on the building walls immediately give off the impression of a place where art is cultivated. There is a charming café attached to the gallery as well as a gift shop. I definitely recommend the place, even if you're not passionate about art.

A really nice place for art lovers to get some hint of what Croatian art is like. The exposition is not very tiring, I would say it's perfect to visit after lunch or strolling through the streets of the Diocletian's palace. The building is right beside the golden gate, so you don't need to move at all from the city centre to rest a bit from the crowds and sunshine if you wish.

You have a lift inside the building if you go with a child in a stroller or on a wheelchair, there is also an entrance on the right that has a platform so you don't need to use the stairs to the main entrance.

A real gem of Split. One of my best spent 5 euro was the ticket to visit this amazing galery. I've visited the permanent exhibition due to I'm not huge fan of modern art which was there as contemporary exhibition. It was really good collection of different art pieces from a broad era, with some really outstanding pieces. I thought we will spend there maximum 1 hour, but it was so much to see at the end it was almost 2 hours of walking around, I highly recommend to visit it if you like traditional art

I really enjoyed this museum. It's small but is in a very cool building and has some fun exhibitions. Like any museum, not all of them appealed, but that's subjective.
Excellent way to spend an hour inside on a rainy day!

Fantastic little gallery. €6 (€10 without student discount) for both floors of the museum. Diverse collection of style, periods and media, loads more to look at and enjoy than I expected. Only saw about 3 other people the entire time I was there. Would highly recommend.

More than a place to hide away from the heat!
We spent a few hours there admiring paintings of Croatian artists, the size of the gallery is just right so that you don't feel tired and can see everything in one visit.
I especially enjoyed the exhibition of Zlatan Vehabović, highly recommend!

This is an amazing fine art museum. In each gallery we explored, we found art that was breathtaking and engaging. We have been to museums in New York, London and Berlin and this museum equals the best of what we've seen there. A special shout-out to the gracious staff, in particular Hrvoje and Nikolina in the information/admissions/gift-shop. We asked some questions and then our conversation blossomed into a lovely encounter; they treated us like old friends.

A fascinating gallery. Much bigger than it looks from the outside. Gives a very interesting overview of Croatian art across the centuries, and has some wonderful artworks. A perfect place to escape from the hectic crowds in Split and experience some calm.

Wow what a nice museum! Did not expect such a well curated and well rounded exhibition in the heart of Split. You can find a variety of great Yugoslav art for a price of a beer. Definitely a hidden gem and recommend to anyone who has a bit of interest in art!

By far one of my favourite museums, the permanent collection is something very special. If you would to see some art and culture in Split, this is the best place. Entrance is 5 euros, and 3 euros for students, which is an amazing price for what you are able to see here!
