This hotel was a highlight of our weeks in Guatemala. It features a beautiful view of the lake and has inexpensive kayaks for rent to explore it. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Pro tip - rooms 8, 9, and 10 have private shaded seating with a lake view where we spent many hours relaxing. Didn't need to cook but the available full kitchen was convenient for storing and heating leftovers as well as making tea and coffee whenever we wanted. We had a delicious lunch at the rooftop restaurant and planned a celebration dinner before we left but the restaurant is closed on Sunday night! Don't make that same mistake.

I spent two nights at Mikaso, and would highly recommend! Not only is the staff INCREDIBLY helpful and friendly, but also the attached restaurant is delicious! The staff went out of their way to make sure I had an enjoyable stay as a solo traveler, and I will definitely be back!

What a lovely end to my trip in Guatemala. This is a great hotel. So relaxed and friendly. I chatted to the dirl.in reception for ages when checking in and got all the info I needed. I stayed in a basic room with bunk beds that suited me perfectly. The hotel is quiet, has a lovely terrace with fantastic views, a big communal kitchen, some rooms have seating areas looking out onto the lake.
The hotel is tucked away down a quiet laneway out of all the chaos but has coffee shops, bakery's and restaurants minutes walk away. There is also a rooftop restaurant located in the hotel.
Very helpful staff.

Truly a gem.

Situated as close to the lake as possible, with the most spectacular views of sunset and sunrise. We were so awestruck by the views upon arriving that we booked an extra night immediately.

The staff is stupendously helpful. Whether it’s for local suggestions, help organising other tours or events in Guatemala, or just to chit chat with.

Finally, restaurant upstairs is great and terraces lovely to enjoy the view from. The experience was amazing - we felt undercharged!

Absolutely delightful hotel in San Pedro La Laguna. We spent 3 nights there earlier this month and loved it! We were only meant to stay for 2 nights but we loved it so much we decided to extend our stay.

The rooms are clean, spacious and functional. Some of them have amazing views over the lake, where you can watch the sunrise over the lake from bed...truly magical!

The hotel has plenty of communal areas for everyone to enjoy, multiple terraces with incredible views, lounge areas and kayaks and paddle boards can be rented for a very small fee (20Q an hour in November 2023). There is also a restaurant on the roof terrace, El Gato Perdido, which does delicious food and has great cocktails and a very friendly staff.

The hotel is located at the end of a nice alleyway surrounded by trees, a 5 minute walk away from the main road. This makes it a very convenient place to explore San Pedro and the rest of the lake from while being incredibly peaceful and quiet as it is not directly on the main party road.

Finally, the hotel staff is truly sensational. The woman managing the reception area during the day was incredibly friendly and fun, she gave us lots of tips on what to do on the lake. The man managing the reception in the evening gave us great restaurants recommendations (go eat at Jakku!!). The owner was very friendly and present and clearly cares a lot about his customers' experience. Thank you very much to all 3, you made our time on the lake very special :)

Wonderful staff, friendly and helpful; amazing location by the lake with beach access, what a view!; yummy restaurants upstairs (little bit pricy); simple but comfy rooms; incredible architecture with patio.
Only downsides: water leaking through windows due to strong winds and no breakfast available, but you know that when booking so.
Highly recommend. Really calm and pedestrian only pathway to reach it.
Would stay there again!

This place is magical. We got up at sunrise every day because the view from the balcony is so spectacular (picture below) The location is great- it’s quiet but was just a quick walk away from the nightlife. Daniel the manager is so sweet too… he helped us with the kayak, which I definitely recommend! It was my moms favorite part of the trip! Overall, beautiful place to experience spectacular views and lovely service.

We stayed in a private room with private washroom for 4 nights. This hotel is beautiful with amazing staff. The roof of the hotel has a restaurant with great food. The hotel staff made us feel very safe and were super friendly with suggestions and things to do. The cats around the hotel add their own charm to Mikaso! Only minus is that the walk to the hotel is a bit deep from the main dock. However would definitely recommend. Great Price.

Gorgeous views, quiet, hostel amenities like a great kitchen with an upscale hotel feel. This corner or San Pedro la Laguna is special with its own community and amenities (bookstore, restaurants, coffee shop/roaster). The family room which sleeps 6 was perfect for our two families with a phenomenal view. Other rooms tend to face inward so we felt lucky. Kayak rental was inexpensive and gave us a chance to explore further down the coast. I’ll be back and can’t wait to see the garden evolve! Lovely family of cats to get your fix.

Beautiful hotel tucked away in busy San Pedro. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Great rooms, the Lake view ones are the best by far. Gorgeous terrace with a stunning view of lake, and a well equipped communal kitchen. Perfect place to stay in San Pedro.

My friends and I stayed here this past May (2023). Our rooms were excellent. The hotel itself is unbelievably gorgeous and we spent a lot of time on its rooftop terrace (perfect for morning coffee or an ice cold Cabro) and lovely dock. It's located so as to not be surrounded by thumping music and late night partying and feels like a hidden gem you've somehow stumbled upon. I cannot express how grateful we were to the staff for helping us organize various activities and making themselves available for our many questions. Muchas gracias amigos, un viaje inolvidable!

I'm writing this review from the Terrace of Mikaso hotel, listening to the waves crash on the shore, while looking at the night lights of pueblos along side Lake Atitlan.

I have spent the last 3 weeks at this special hotel and for me it was a REFUGE from the noise, bustle and party scene that can be seen in other parts of San Pedro. I stayed both in a larger room and a smaller one and both experiences were good. The pillows in the room are SO comfortable, comforters/blankets too.

The staff are fantastic, you can have philosophical conversations with Daniel, or practice your Spanish with Rene who works evening shifts and is every so kind and helpful and loves humans, Billie who works the day shift helped me sort out my kayak many a times and was also very friendly, and Jacqueline is a very special woman who emits warmth and wisdom.

The best part of the hotel are the cats, of course.
The kitchen is well equipped and kept clean.
The rooms are not cleaned daily and on an as per needed basis, which worked well for me and i think is better for the planet in general.

I had a minor problem with smelly pipes in my shower that Daniel helped me fix promptly, all else was smooth with my 3 week stay.

The hotel strives to create a peaceful environment for guests and this was very appreciated as i like quiet/calm places and this was IT for me in san pedro.

Two days before i left, the restaurant upstairs re-opened and was too loud for me as im noise sensitive and was staying on 2nd floor, if you are too, it may be better to book a room on the ground floor.

Internet worked well for me (there's about 5 different networks you can use in case one is overloaded with other guests using it), i had a work call drop 1-2 times only but otherwise the networks were fine. Both my showers had hot water (which you adjust via pressure).

The architecture, garden and general ambience of the hotel is very lovely, even the walk to the hotel is a tunnel of greenery/flowers.

Overall would recommend this place.

Probably the best hotel in all of San Pedro. It's beautiful. The hotel is spacious, clean, quiet and has an absolutely incredible view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The price is reasonable and the bedrooms are comfortable without gnats which can be an issue with some of the other locations. You truly feel like you're on vacation here.

They are a ways off of the main strip which is great for quiet relaxation. The walk is about 10 minutes to the heart of San Pedro. Feels like getting the best of both worlds

Hotel at the lakeside, good rooms, friendly staff, free to play pool here, can rent a few solo canoes here for the same price or a little bit cheaper as elsewhere, has a restaurant.

You want ridiculous luxury, go visit Dubai....
But if you're looking for a cozy, clean and ideally located small scale hotel in San Pedro, Mikaso might very well be an exellent choice.
Beautifully located at the lake, fantastic hotelterrace (great sunbeds, comfortable chairs) with an amazing view on the lake and the surrounding vulcanos.
Add a relaxed and personal service attitude to that and you will be able to enjoy Lake Atitlan in the best possible way
Value for money!

This hotel is the best there is in San Pedro. It is just over the water, has its own deck, kajaks, plants, cats!! It has amazing views from the terrace where you can play pool while watching the sunset. I loved that it is just a10min walk from the center but it is far enough so you can enjoy the lake without the noise of the party streets. Lovely attention and full of tips from René.
I think I would come back to Atitlán just to stay here more days.

Review of the brunch, not the hotel. Really great terrace. I only had fruit with yogurt and granola, but it was good. I had coffee and wine and read. It's a relaxing place.

Amazing location and hostel/hotel. Everything was very clean, the staff was excellent, and the deck to hang out was wonderful. The whole place feels like a huge manor with many places to sit on chairs and balconies with amazing views to relax or read a book. I didn't eat at the restaurant but other travellers told me the pizza is excellent. Great place to stay to relax and unwind in San Pedro!
