San Pedro Spanish School

Wow. I spent 5 weeks here learning Spanish and couldn't have been more impressed by the kindness, professionalism, beauty, and effectiveness of San Pedro Spanish School. I spent 4 hours each morning learning with my fantastic instructor and "guía" Clemente (who beyond being a fantastic teacher, is also a fantastic human).

Coming into the school I had a confident base in the present tense, and that was about it... In just 5 weeks I felt incredibly well versed in past, future, imperative, conditional, and even a bit of subjunctive! Clemente did an amazing job tailoring lessons to my requests and learning styles, and I progressed way more than I thought possible.

In addition to setting me up with an amazing teacher, Ramón, Mario, and the entire administration connected my friend and I with THE most incredible host family in the world. Quina, Domingo, and their entire family welcomed us from day one as their "hijos" and kept us comfortable, well fed, and happy for our entire stay.

I would be hard pressed to recommend anywhere in the world more than I'd recommend Clemente, Quina, and the entire San Pedro Spanish School as the next place to continue your Spanish journey :)

Where do I begin. What an amazing place this is. I arrived with the classic “me llamo Niel” and left with writing and giving a whole speech about my time here and the amazing people I met. Unbelievable how many progress you can make in only two weeks here!

Eliza, my teacher, is just the best. I can recommend her to everybody!

Ramon and his team are like a family. This isn’t just a school, it’s a home for people from all over the world. And they happen to have the best Spanish teachers in town!

If you want a real, unique and longlasting experience. Go to San Pedro Spanish School and stay with a family. My family was Julio and Wilma and they treated me as their own son. Nothing was too much!

San Pedro is a very special school. It’s a beautiful spot - little huts spread through the woods leading down to the water. The atmosphere created by the teachers is perfect - fun, inclusive, with lots of activities in the afternoons and evenings so that you can get to know fellow students. Most of all, the teachers are excellent, and by the end of the seven days I felt like I had really improved. The school is the perfect place to learn Spanish, meet new people, and explore the rest of the lake.

I have just finished my first week learning Spanish and can not recommend San Pedro Spanish school more highly.

Our teacher, Sandra, was excellent. She was patient with us and tailored the lessons to meet our needs. In 1 week, she has helped us to become more confident in our day to day interactions with the locals.

The school is a beautiful location, with great coffee and tasty snacks every day.

Our homestay was also excellent. Conchita and her family were so welcoming, and the food was incredible. It really helped to practice our Spanish with them every day.

Lastly, the school offers daily activities, and there is a local gym nearby you can use free of charge.

I did a weeks Spanish school and home stay! Clemente was an amazing teacher. Our Spanish improved so much in just 5 days. We can understand so much more and speaking is getting better and better. He allowed us to direct the classes to make sure we covered what we really wanted to learn which we were really grateful. We left the classes feeling really excited to practice our Spanish. The home stay allowed us to do just that and it was great to experience local culture. I wish we could have done more weeks, would definitely go back. Couldn’t recommend San Pedro Spanish School more! So worth the time and money. Do it!!

A fantastic school no matter what level of Spanish you have (I started with absolutely zero). I spent a week here learning the basics with my wife and had a great time. We learned so much in such a short time! The teachers are fantastic (ask for Zandra!) and most importantly patient. The school itself is beautiful and right beside the lake. My experience at San Pedro Spanish School was amazing. I am grateful for the experience. My teacher Eliza was the best teacher I have had so far in my Spanish learning journey. She cares a lot about her students and she knew exactly what I needed to practice in order to progress further with Spanish. The classes were dynamic, fun, and I learned a lot. I also love that the school is outdoors, in a garden near the lake. It creates a good atmosphere for learning. Everyone at the school is so kind. I recommend San Pedro Spanish School with teacher Eliza! I finished my last day today and I am already hoping I can return one day.

We had an incredible experience at San Pedro Spanish school. The homestay and the teaching was adapted and perfect for us. My boyfriend and I were studying with our 5 years old son and staff went far and beyond to meet our expectations.

I loved my time at San Pedro Spanish school, my teacher Eliza was kind and patient. I enjoyed having the one-to-one lessons in the garden next to the lake, it's such a great atmosphere to learn in. I also enjoyed the after school activities.

If you’re looking for a Spanish school, choose San Pedro Spanish School! I came to study medical Spanish and absolutely loved my experience and my teacher, Vero! This school provides you with four hours of one-on-one private lessons daily catered to your needs and goals. Classes are held in a beautiful garden on the lake. Every day the school hosts different events to learn about the culture of Guatemala and enjoy the beauty of Lake Atitlan. San Pedro Spanish School also contributes to the community with their incredible program Niños del Lago, which provides enrichment and education programming to local kids. You benefit this program when you take classes here, and you can also choose to volunteer with the program. I can’t recommend this school more highly and I hope to return in the future to study again and reunite with the community there.

We attended San Pedro Spanish school for 1 week and we loved it! We had Saydy as our teacher and she couldn’t have been more helpful and kind. We had no Spanish coming here and she was patient and made the classes fun and enjoyable. We wish we had another week here and can’t thank Saydy enough!

The school has a beautiful jungle like setting and is very relaxing.

We also did the home stay and had a great experience with Maria and her family. The school offers a free gym also which is great addition to being in a routine.

I have just come to the end of a fantastic 2 weeks at San Pedro Spanish school. My maestra Saydy was fantastic- I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher! The classes were fun, interactive and informative. Her teaching style was great for keeping me engaged and my Spanish progressed loads in the 2 weeks. Ramon was super helpful and prompt at organizing everything for me. I spent a week with a lovely family in a home stay where they provided me with 3 delicious home cooked meals a day and conversations in Spanish to advance my learning. The location of the school is great and also beautiful and there were many activities organized by the school which were great to practice further Spanish and also to hang out with other students!

All I wish is that I had more time to spend there to keep improving my Spanish!

My family and I had a wonderful time at San Pedro Spanish school. My son, daughter, and I are all at different levels of learning, so it was important that we had our own Spanish teachers. My son started learning Spanish from scratch, and he can now pronounce words correctly and read in Spanish. He also know many of the basic words and tries to speak to locals as much as possible. My daughter is in her 3rd year of high school Spanish, so she worked on speaking and listening. She had a wonderful time and feels so much more confident. I always heard her and her teacher laughing. I just finished my masters as a Physician Associate and want to speak with my patients in Spanish. I studying medical terms and reviewed my Spanish grammar and vocabulary that I had learned in high school and college. My kids and I learned so much from our teachers who are patient and extremely kind. My daughter is planning to return this summer for 4 weeks and stay with a host family. I highly recommend studying at San Pedro Spanish School!

Elissa - my teacher was amazing. It was very beneficial to do private 1 on 1 lessons as we could go at my pace. Elissa was very kind, polite and understanding. I would highly recommend her to anyone to teach you Spanish! San Pedro Spanish School was great! They were very accommodating with times and made availability for me. All the staff were friendly and it was a very smooth process. Great communication! Lovely venue, can overlook the Lake and lots of areas to move and around and create a private space which is great for learning! Would highly recommend! Thank you very much!!

I would highly recommend San Pedro language school. They offer excellent teachers and I’ve learnt so much in just 5 days. In addition, we have had a brilliant experience with our home stay family, who have been so welcoming and have helped us improve our Spanish each day. The language school also offers daily trips so it is easy to mix with other learners.

My husband and I took Spanish classes for a week with Saydy and absolutely loved every minute of it! She is an amazing teacher and we are so sad not to see her every day. We learned more than we thought we would. Everybody here is so fun and friendly. We would recommend this to anybody who is planning on being in Guatemala for a longer period of time. It is worth the time and money😊

Had such an amazing experience at San Pedro Spanish School, I did one week of schooling and also did the homestay.

My teacher Clemente, was extremely helpful and accomodating to my Spanish level, he was also mega super nice and was happy to have a laugh and a joke.

My homestay experience was something I will remember for my whole life, I felt so welcomed by them and really did feel apart of the family.

This is a great place to learn Spanish! My teacher was Juan and he was very patient and detailed. He understood my current level and built lessons of off that. The school was very friendly and is located right by Lake Atitlan for a picturesque location to learn Spanish. I can highly recommend Juan as a teacher who was flexible and very enjoyable to learn from, he even offers continued online learning!
The school offered refreshments such as water, tea and coffee as well as a snack at break time.
There are usually other students here so you’ll have like minded people around you and the lessons are one on one learning with a teacher.

I had a great experience with San pedro spanish school. My teacher Marta was amazing, patient and great at making learing feel fun and easy. I improved my spanish so much in just a week! Also all the classes she asked me how I like to learn, if it was something special I felt like I wanted to practice extra on. Then we worked on it together.

I would recommend this school to anyone who want’s to learn spanish but also do fun activites and meet new friends :)

We had an amazing week of classes and home stay with San Pedro school. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Our teacher Veronica was fantastic and by the end of the week we had learned so much and felt far more confident. Our homestay family helped us practice at meals and spoke at our level to help us improve. The food included was also delicious everyday. The best value for money thing we’ve done on our South and Central American travels so couldn’t recommend highly enough
