I loved this school! We were meant to spend a week here and ended up spending 3 (and would have stayed longer). Emmanuel was my teacher and was excellent - really patient and kind, made all of the lessons different with activities targeted to the things that interested me - I can’t recommend him as a teacher highly enough! Everyone at the school was lovely, it felt like a family, and they organised lots of activities for us to do together like cooking classes, temazcal, sports games, chocolate tour. You study in cabanas in a beautiful green garden, which is an amazing place to learn. The lake is at the bottom of the garden. We stayed in a homestay with Irma and Victor and their family, who were so kind to us and treated us like a member of their family - Irma is also an incredible cook! This was my favourite part of my trip by far and I will try to come back soon! Thank you to everybody!

This is a great little school. I only spent 5 days here, but I immediately felt so welcome and comfortable. They have teachers with varying levels of English to fit your needs, and the 1-on-1 classes are held in a beautiful garden area. The free activities throughout the week are a great way to practice Spanish and get to know the other students and teachers. I would definitely go here again.

I absolutely LOVE, Corazon Maya! I’ve been here 4 times to take classes. My favorite teacher is Vilma. The people who run the school are like family to me. I really enjoy being able to take classes by the lake and enjoy being able to listen to the birds. It makes for a very relaxing and beautiful environment. If you’re trying to decide where to take your Spanish class don’t hesitate and sign up with Corazon Maya!

My girlfriend and I have enjoyed a week of Spanish lessons and a beautiful homestay. The teachers are determined to teach you Spanish. They are very patient, fun and super friendly! The school also organizes activities like cooking, a chocolate tour, temazcals (similar to a sauna) after classes which are very fun and teaches you about the culture. Our homestay was perfect. We stayed at a very friendly family. Also they cook delicious and varied food :) We recommend Corazon Maya 100%.

Corazon Maya is a very lovely and social school, who brings all their students through different team events on 3 days in a week together. My teacher, Edwin, was extremely patient with me (I was an absolute beginner) and fun. He answered all my (weird) questions, even though they sometimes didn’t fit in the content we just talked about. And that made the whole learning experience so much easier for me and better: I really want to continue.

The school also helps to connect their students with locals. I stayed in a home stay right in front of the school and that was amazing too. The family made me immediately a part of them and I felt every minute welcome. Irma&Victor are just the best!!

I attended Corazon Maya spanish school for two weeks in July. I can confidently say that it was an unforgettable journey of learning, cultural exploration, and fun!

First of all, the location of the school is amazing, right next to lake Atitlan. Studying outside in the garden, with a view of the lake on the one side and a view on the green volcano San Pedro on the other side - it was like a dream.

Also, the teaching staff is a true asset to the school. They are highly skilled in teaching the Spanish language to their students and adapt easily to various levels and learning styles. In addition, they have a clear passion for sharing Guatemalan culture and will foster a real, meaningful connection with their students. They also organise and participate in various afternoon activities, going from temezcal (local sauna) to a salsa class, to cooking dinner all together.

You will also have the option to stay in a host family, which I definitely recommend. Maria took great care of us and made us try new local dishes every night. She even taught us how to make tortillas from scratch.

Last but not least, for me, what truly sets Corazon Maya apart from other Spanish schools in the area is its intimate and welcoming atmosphere. As a small school, you immediately feel that you are being welcomed in close-knit community where every student’s needs and progress are attended to with care. After two weeks of classes, I felt like I was part of the family! For anyone seeking a truly immersive and personal Spanish learning experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Corazon Maya!

I spent 2 months here and had a great time. Everyone was friendly and social. My Spanish improved so much with my very patient teacher Vilma. She was extremely pleasant to chat with and no topic was off limits. I also liked getting to know the other teachers during the breaks and activities. My homestay also went well. They were so generous and sharing. I was sad to leave my new family. I am already looking forward to returning. I have to return because I'm famous in town. The school immortalized me with my picture on their sign out on the street.

Great place to study Spanish! Teachers are really good, thanks to Ventura and Juan. Its a small school, so you know all the teachers and other student. We can only recommend to follow lessons here and spend your time in a homestay.

I had a fantastic experience at Corazon Maya. I only had one week to stay here, but I wish I could have stayed longer! The staff was very communicative with me since I first contacted them, and I felt welcome in this place from the moment I arrived. My professor was Ventura, who did an outstanding job. The one on one classes were custom to my specific requests, and the time flew by quickly every class. The place is beautiful, right on the beach and with an amazing garden and breathtaking views! I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn Spanish!

WOW! We couldn't think of a better place to learn spanish than Corazon Maya!
My boyfriend and I were originally only going to take one week of spanish classes, but then we extended because the experience was so great.
The family that runs the school is incredibly welcoming, they make every student feel comfortable and always have an open ear.
Every week they offer afternoon activities (e.g. temazcal, chocolate tour, excursions.... and on Fridays they cook and eat together with all the students). We felt very comfortable in the community.

We had private lessons with Vilma and Edwin and are very happy with our teachers. They both managed to identify our weaknesses and create an individual learning plan for us. Both were very professional and made learning fun!

The school offers accommodations on the school grounds or arranges families where you can stay and eat three times a day.
We chose to stay with a host family and were able to spend time with Irma's (insanely sweet) family. We can recommend this experience to anyone and would definitely do it again.

Great Spanish school, run by a lovely local family! Our 1-on-2 lessons were personal and interesting, with plenty of room for questions about the language and the culture. Our teacher (Edwin) was passionate and patient. Additionally, the family organized fun social activities to put Spanish into practice. Definitely recommended!

My family (2 adults and 3 kids) spent a week here learning Spanish. The teachers are amazing and the location is fabulous. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Our family of 4 spent a week at Corazon Maya and had an excellent experience. My wife and I opted for 2:1 lessons and instructor (Edwin) was outstanding. He was able to gauge our level and work with us to extend our vocabulary and command of the language. We were lucky enough to get great weather, so we did all of our lessons outside in the garden - an experience which can't be beat. Our daughters (8 y/o and 10 y/o) also took 2:1 lessons with Lola who was so great with the girls. The lessons were exactly at the right level, and she kept them engaged by varying the lessons, sometimes sitting in the garden 'classrooms', sometimes walking around the grounds, exploring. The owners took time to chat with us, were always around during coffee breaks to talk and practice our Spanish. Their lovely daughter (11 y/o), played with our girls after classes, swam in the pool and joined us for excursions. Our homestay, just two doors down from the school, was comfortable and our hosts were friendly and welcoming. Overall, this was a really great experience.

My boyfriend and I attended spanish lessons here in February, and we kept extending because it was soooo amazing! You get one-to-one classes in beautiful surroundings on the lake, there are 2-3 really good activities every week, where you can practice even more Spanish. The school is small and family-owned and they really care for their students, you will feel like a part of the family. I ended taking 4 weeks of classes (I didnt know spanish before) and I improved SO much, and in the end I could have actual conversations in spanish - very useful for my further travels in Latinamerika 🤸
The owners, Josepha and Chema are soooo sweet and they are now our Guatamale-family - miss them already 🥰 Edwin, my teacher did SUCH a good job, I cannot recommend him enough, now he is a very important friend of mine/ours 🫶

I absolutely loved this place. I already was fluent in Spanish when I came here but I wanted to take my Spanish to the next level. It worked! I just had a meeting at my job in Spanish and I felt so confident and good in my Spanish. I highly recommend my teacher Edwin, but I know all the teachers there are great! It’s right on the lake! Some days we took our chairs and sat on the shores of the lake and it was amazing! I will probably go again next summer. This is the best school on the lake by far! Ok have fun y’all!

I sent my three kids (9, 7 and 5) here last minute and it was a great decision. They tailored the classes to keep the kids interested but also helping them learn. The grounds are beautiful and they have activities each afternoon that all the students are invited to. They also have home stay options that I would definitely look into if I was redoing my travel plans.

wowowow such a special place 🤎 all of the teachers were so patient with the students and i felt immediately welcomed into the school and its community of learners and teachers. there are free activities every week that help create a safer space to practice speaking spanish. i especially loved getting to know the family that runs the school. they are so caring genuine. also they were very accommodating when i wanted to share some food from my culture. 5/5 stars. chefs kiss 😘

My teacher was Edwin and I learned a lot with him while having fun conversations.
Also I stayed with a family (Irma and Victor) where I had a nice room, delicious food and very nice conversations over dinner with all of them.
