Station Buffet

We visited 5 years ago and couldn't wait to return. Such great atmosphere and lovely place to mooch around for hours with your family and dog. Food is great, though quite pricey and you have to be patient waiting for a table.

Located inside Barters books, which is a big, beautiful second-hand bookstore. Station buffets chip butties and sausage sarnies are huge so if you're not very hungry I'd recommend something else. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend 👌

Fantastic breakfast and good value. Sausages were top quality and eggs well cooked. Very nice atmosphere and setting. Staff very friendly and helpful. A must visit if you are in the area.

Excellent freshly prepared food.

Reasonable cafe with the usual suspects on the menu. Always super busy at weekends so expect a wait. Dog friendly. No highchairs.

I can see someone recently was disappointed with their Welsh rarebit, maybe they've made changes since because mine was delicious. One bit of toast but lovely good quality thick bread with lots of yummy tasting cheese. Delicious chips (I like carbs so was happy with this accompaniment) and a simple but crisps salad. My little girl had macaroni cheese and this was also delicious. I actually wanted to asked them for the macaroni cheese recipe as it was so good but never did in the end.

Notices about staff shortages explain the slight delay but staff were cheerful and helpful. Food was tasty and plentiful as usual.

Soup was excellent. Sausage sandwich average but pricey! Welsh rarebit very disappointing and nearly £10!!!!! - one thin slice of toast with very little cheese, handful of chips☹☹☹

Lovely Sunday morning hangover food in a fabulous venue ...staff behind the counter we nice but the experience was spoilt by the grumpiest female wait staff I think I have ever encountered, terrible attitude, even asking for ketchup seems to be a problem.

Expensive for the portion size and quality. Overcooked eggs and stale toast. However lovely friendly staff and good service

Carb-heavy menu, friendly staff. I asked for a small change to a toasted sandwich but unfortunately they are all pre-made 🤨 not ideal if you've got a fussy eater with you. I appreciate it saves time during busy service, but to make sandwiches from scratch only takes a few more minutes, and would offer more options for restricted diets and children.

Who said good value? 6.60 for a sausage sandwich?
