Our whole experience with The Almshouse tea shop was great from start to finish. We did make a few specific requests and had to make a change to the date of our booking due to illness but nothing was too much trouble. The lady I dealt with was lovely, as were all the staff. The tea shop is in a gorgeous setting and there were lots of beautiful details inside that made it lovely and unique. The afternoon tea was delicious and made with very high quality ingredients. We were surprised at the variety of sandwich fillings and the home-made scones were still warm and melt in the mouth. The cakes were equally as fresh and delicious with lots of variety, the Bakewell tart was particularly outstanding. The staff were very attentive, offering to top up our tea and pack any leftovers for us. Without a doubt the best afternoon tea we have ever had!

Perfect little place for a spot of afternoon tea. Located right in the heart of a picturesque village. Fantastic service, quaint little tea room and delicious warm scones, jam and cream. Also had non dairy oat milk for our tea! Would definitely recommend.

We were here on a trial day after a temporary closed season. The people were amazingly nice, the scones were tasty, and the price were more than fair☺ I recommend this place wholeheartedly 🤩

Absolutely gorgeous! Visited with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea- the sandwiches were freshly made, the scones were undoubtedly the best I’ve had and it was so tricky to chose between the array of delicious cakes. Warm and friendly welcome and excellent service. Thank you so much.

An adorable teahouse in Axbridge serving afternoon tea alongside a regular food menu. Five of us were fortunate enough to turn up for AT on Saturday without a booking (but probably wise to reserve). The kind ladies explained the portions are generous here so three sets plus two cream tea add-ons would suffice for our group. For sandwiches, my favourite was definitely the prawn mayonnaise - very fresh! Their plain scones were warm, airy and easy to cut into; served with clotted cream & jam. Cakes are more like slices including carrot, chocolate, lemon drizzle etc. All in all, it was ~£10pp. Do visit!

Wonderful vegan afternoon tea for £15! Two big cakes and loads of sarnies with oat milk for unlimited coffee/tea. My friend's non-vegan teas also looked great (and huge!). Tables nicely spaced apart and very clean inside. Go and support this fab small business. Axbridge is also a lovely little historical village.

RE-VISITED and still as good
If your in the vasinity and looking for a great place for a snack/lunch or just a drink then you can't go far from this.
A cosy place with history, plenty of seats inside and a few outside in the courtyard. If you was thinking of going here it might be advisable to book ahead as it gets busy.... We had the soupwich ( recommended ), friendly service with lovely food

Loved it here!

A understated wooden door leads to a beautiful hidden gem with beamed ceilings. Exellent hospitality from the staff who were more than accommodating with food allergies.
Delicious breakfast made with high quality food. They offer 3 sizes of breakfasts to suit your hunger needs, all reasonably priced too. The only down side is I don't live closer!

I had an absolutely wonderful time here, the service was incredible and the waitresses were so friendly and nice. This is what a Tea Shop should be I can only pass comment on the scones and cream, only one word I can use and that's superb, lots of clotted cream lots of jam and two large scones that were served warm.

We had cappuccino instead of tea which was very good .

Staff were friendly and helpful and checked up with us that all was okay.

Worth a look if in the area they have a large menu with lots of choices so you are bound to find something that you might fancy.

Love this Tea shop in Axbridge. Everyone is so friendly and you can take your dog in to the Tea Shop and they make sure there is water for the dogs and also you get biscuits for them. The cakes are to die for. A wonderful, friendly welcoming place and definitely recommend it. Cant wait to go back !

Visited the Almshouse with 7 former work colleagues, to celebrate one of our party's 60th birthday. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We'd booked for "the modest afternoon tea" and were not disappointed. Plentiful quantities of sandwiches, scones & cake. Unlimited tea also. Sadly no photos we got stuck in & enjoyed it too much for that. Perhaps I'll remember to take some on my next visit! Definitely would recommend & will be returning

We slipped in moments before closing today and the owner could not have been more hospitable. Above and beyond service and high quality home made cakes and scones. Can’t wait to go again.
