Having visited previously and really enjoyed their afternoon tea, when we found out Brownie Barn now do Sunday roasts, we couldn't wait to give it a try.
We were lucky enough to get a parking space (free) at Barden bridge and did the very scenic walk along the Dales way to the Brownie Barn. Thoroughly recommend this easy path along the river. A good way to work up a well needed appetite, although unsuitable for wheelchairs / pushchairs.
We arrived just after 12:30 and were warned they were a bit behind due to an unexpectedly busy morning (first back post Xmas I think). But we sat at a table near the fire and had a drink while we waited. The owner was very apologetic about the wait and made sure we were well looked after.
The food was absolutely worth waiting for!
Massive plate with 3 big pieces of good beef. Several roast potatoes which were beautifully crispy on the outside, yet buttery soft inside. 2 small but perfectly formed Yorkshire puddings, lots of perfectly cooked veg (full of flavour) and a huge side dish of creamy cauliflower cheese. All tied together with a jug of homemade meaty gravy.
Overall an amazing meal with lovely food and service. The cost was comparable to other places that do Sunday lunch but there was definitely more food here. We left feeling thoroughly looked after, excited for the walk back to help our full bellies!
It's a lovely location, but be aware, it's truly in the middle of the countryside. Parking nearby (to walk there) can be a problem. So if you don't have a plan, make sure you ask for a parking space when booking. They're limited but they will reserve one for you.
Will be back again for sure!

Came here on mother's day after walking up Simon's seat in the rain, the host took our coats and hung them near the fire to dry them and gave us all blankets, it was exactly what we all needed :)
We all had brownies which were absolutely amazing, mine was probably the best brownie I've ever had. Two of our party were vegan and there were multiple vegan options for brownies too.
I will definitely be returning when I can!

A jewel of the Dales. I’ve been here with family, friends and (most often) with our cycling group. The food is fantastic (not just the Brownies- the lunches are fabulous), the service outstanding and the view even better. Great for veggies too. Can’t recommend highly enough. 😍😍

Great location with a fabulous view. Plenty of seating indoors and outside. Wonderful brownies and the butterscotch ice-cream is to die for.

Found by accident following a slightly out of date trail. Parked up and had a great takeaway, and abused the kindness of the owners own car park space and went for a walk. Great scenery locally, and from the barn itself. So I returned after my walk, had a nice coffee and probably the best caramel brownie ever. Key point 👉 it was warmed perfectly 👌. Service with a chat, a smile and background singing to the radio.... It's not his day job 😉 if you are close by, or not, pop by, check out the opening hours though.

We had a lovely walk up to the river from Bolton Abbey. My wife told she has kind of surprise and that's how we arrived at Brownie Barn. It was Saturday but not busy at all, staff members are very kind. We can recommend tasty sandwiches and obviously brownies. Raspberry, cherry and coconut are my favourite now but there is more to pick. Coffee, milkshake or smoothie for your rest time with amazing views.

Wonderful family run business in the heart of rural Yorkshire. Just the setting alone is worth the visit! (See photos)
We went for brunch a few weeks ago. I had the eggs royale, which were the best I have tasted. I am not a coffee drinker, but my companions were highly complimentary of the barista’s coffees. Lovely friendly service and a warm welcome. The shop is beautifully designed and well stocked and I challenge you not to be tempted by their amazing brownies!!!

We’re all year round regulars up at the Brownie Barn on Howgill Lane near Appletreewick. Incredible views. Log burner inside, plenty of tables inside and out.
Really good hot and cold meals, reliable quality, and very friendly service from all the team. Always feel very welcome.
Of course the brownies are the heroes of the place which chef Chantel makes. They haven’t changed in quality over time and we give them boxed as presents to everyone. They are soooo good. Of course, we um have partaken ourselves at times, well, frequently. Raspberry, double choc, espresso, salted caramel and morello cherry amongst our favourites.
Worth the trip and lots of walks from there too.
NB they have started doing Sunday Roasts. I have not yet tried them but I’m sure they’ll be good. Need to book.

Had afternoon tea here on Wednesday. Absolutely lovely, great sandwiches, scones, cream , jam, strawberries and beautiful small cakes, even had soup to start. I've had a lot of afternoon teas and this was up with the best. Shame it was too cool to sit out as the view is beautiful. Will be back.

Had a lovely time here yesterday with a group of 8 sitting outside. Stunning rural views. I had a vegan chocolate orange brownie with vegan vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Portions of the brownie were big and certainly filling! Had to go for a hill climb to walk it off, lol!
Friendly staff and decent toilet.
Would return!

After getting completely soaked hiking to Simons seat we found this place on our walk back. Everywhere was beautifully clean (until we me came and messed it up, sorry about that). The brownies were incredible and the mocha was 👌.
Customer service was incredible, nothing was too much bother and we even ended up being given a lift down the road to save some time off our long walk back. Cannot recommend enough

After a walk up to Simon's seat today, I found this place and enjoyed an unexpected coffee and brownie take out! Don't think there's a cafe with a better view either....

Amazing brownies, good coffee, top quality cooked breakfast, and tasty pizzas. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we consumed from The Brownie Barn while on our camping holiday just down the road at Howgill Lodge C&C. The guy running the place, Lee, was an absolutely amazing host. He gave us the most incredible recommendations for walks which we gladly went on, including a recommendation for a couple of pubs. Lee was attentive and kind and really made every trip we had to the Brownie Barn personal and special.
