Melvyn's Cafe

Lovely visit with my dad, who is a regular. I plumped for the breakfast which did not disappoint. Great portion size, well cooked, and most importantly; delicious! The staff are so welcoming and friendly. An absolute credit to Alnwick. Thanks!

Good food and drink - burger was lovely.

It was A busy day in august so there was a small wait to be served and for the food but so what? One of the cheapest places in the area so can’t complain, especially as quality was good.

The biggest issue? Seems to be a serious problem in this town with rudeness and abruptness. Not relating to the staff but to the customers! They seem to expect far too much - and don’t seem to like not having their arses licked for the cost of a sandwich as a few other reviews suggest!

Again, no problems here! Lovely food and staff!

Iv been here a couple of times for brakfast on my way to work as a chef. Fantastic speedy service feim polite friendly staff. Delicious full english nice quality sausages, Really enjoyed all visits. My new regular.

Excellent breakfast experience like other reviews have praised the cafe for. Well cooked and good value. Nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the views of the marketplace. Friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely come back.

Popped in by chance, in July, after visiting Warkworth castle. Can honestly say, we had the best toasted sandwich my son and I, have ever eaten. Lovely service too!

Small but great food and lovely staff. In good weather there is outside seating which helps. Dog friendly.
I had the full English breakfast as a brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. For a little extra you can double up on the sausage, bacon etc.. I didn’t need to. Very satisfied with the standard plateful.

A great little cafe, excellent service from two friendly hard working efficient staff, great food fresh and delicious we cannot recommend this establishment enough.

Found purely by chance this place was a great surprise. We were staying in a self catering cottage so set out on our first morning to find a full breakfast. What luck to find Lilburns.
We were made to feel very welcome in a bustling little cafe that produce the most amazing breakfast . All you could wish for, and I have a good appetite.
Clean and bright with staff that could not do enough for us.
We went twice more in the week and will be back again .

Lovely place. Great friendly staff and hearty meals. We stopped in for a bowl of delicious home made soup on an unexpected cold day and it was just what we needed. Great value for money please everyone visit and support

Staying in alnwick for a few days went to melvyns for breakfast staff lovely food lovely and also my name spelling is the same other than that it is worth a visit 😀

Very friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Good range of food.
Food was excellent. You can tell they use good ingredients.
They make alot themselves, eg coleslaw, scones.
Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again

The cafe is lovely. We both had the Christmas special turkey sandwiches with chips. The sandwiches were delicious with really good quality turkey and the chips were perfect, crispy on the outside and really soft and fluffy in the middle. We even had coke from real glass bottles. The owner has even taken the time and effort to provide COVID safe booths which is very thoughtful and much appreciated. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we felt the sandwiches were very good value for money.

Went here Tuesday 4 lunch. Hubby had steak and ale pie, he makes a fantastic pie of his own so must've been good! I ordered food that was NOT on the menu. Staff were accommodating and fantastic, cafe was extremely clean and hygienic. The food was lovely, so nice we asked if we could buy some of their steak and ale pies to take home. They were great so pie it is at the weekend when we get home.

First visited on Wednesday - really to get out of the rain! We were given such a warm welcome from staff and customers alike, and the breakfasts we had were wonderful. Went back today, and the welcome was just as warm. This time we had corned beef pie with beans and sweet potato fries - soon good! Will definitely visit again next time we are in the area.
