Great latte and a nice piece of banana cake. Loved the interior decor and nice seating area outside too. Friendly staff. The place to go for coffee and cake in Abingdon.

Nice local cafe in the town square of Abingdon. Indoor and outdoor seating. Toilet facilities. The place takes its name from the local tradition of throwing baked buns off the top of the tower during special occasions.

We've had the most wonderful afternoon tea at Throwing Buns ♡ the staff we amazing, so attentive and not pushy at all. We stayed and chatted for a long time and all of the staff were just great. Of course the afternoon tea was delicious and there was plenty of it and the tea and coffee tasted really nice too. Definitely want to make sure I go back ♡

Lovely accomdating staff! They make you feel right at home. The way they treat their regular customers is amazing. Great prices and a very lovely interior. If you are looking for your regular coffee shop you have found it.

Really nice afternoon tea,good selection if sandwiches ,really friendly staff I would recommend booking in advance as it can get busy ,which is a testament to how good it is

Went with dogs for a coffee, lovely friendly staff who made a fuss of the dogs, good coffee, didn't have breakfast but looked good for £7

It’s a delightful spot with a lovely atmosphere. The food, tea and coffee was very good just a little slow to bring the food to the table. But we weren’t particularly in a hurry, so it wasn’t a problem.

Amazing luxury hot chocolate and home made gluten free cake in a warm, welcoming and comfortable place.

This is a lovely place for coffee & a bun. Good range of buns/cakes but does sarnies and hot food too.
Have been going here for a few years now. Friendly service, children welcomed, relaxing environment/atmosphere and a cosy feel to the place.

I always try and support local independent businesses and this is a great little place. Competitively priced serving excellent coffee, cakes, sandwiches etc. It's right in the heart of Abingdon the service is great, really friendly and polite. It beats the Costa's, Starbucks etc by a country mile..

This is a really friendly local cafe with absolutely excellent cakes.

On the market Square in Abingdon, slightly tucked away behind the museum this cafe commemorates a strange local tradition celebrating royal events with ballistic baking.
Despite their bun throwing ceremonies I recommend eating the buns instead as they are really rather good.
They serve very nice coffee and also do a range of classic cafe meals including great baked potatoes and toasties.

They were about to clean and close but helped us so kind and friendly anyway. Great coffee, hot chocolate and cakes. Really happy they survived the Corona but they're too cheap at the moment in pricing!

We are never disappointed by Throwing Buns. Stefanos is always friendly and the food is of a high standard. Their range of loose tea is extensive and they even do gluten free food. The Afternoon Tea is especially amazing! It's often busy so booking is recommended for larger groups or at busy times. We never go anywhere else these days!

Ordered taleaway afternoon tea at short notice and they happily accommodated us, even adding a few extra sandwiches when asked if the food for 2 would stretch to 2 small children.

Stellar coffee and hot chocolate. Great cakes too, especially the coffee and walnut. Perfect stop off if you're out for a ride or a walk. Much better than the chain store 👍 highly recommended.

Abingdon is well served for good cafes, coffee shops and tea rooms and Throwing buns is certainly one of these. The coffee is strong, not too sweet (A real problem these days) and reasonably priced. Great cakes too; I love the cappuccino short cake.

Wonderful little cafe. A welcome random find on a trip into Abingdon. Very friendly staff and a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food and coffee was great. I had a bacon, Brie and cranberry ciabatta and a black Americano coffee. Both very good. I will definitely go back again.
