Had a really good few hours here today. The volunteers were very knowledgeable about the house and the history especially Mervin, I think his name was, he involved my two sons with dressing up and knowing what boys like to know about history told them all about the fighting and how the younger boys helped around the house too.
Enjoyed the walks outside to especially the tree house and dens, will definitely visit in dryer weather to fully appreciate the garden and outdoor.
Had a cake and a drink in the cafe, a little pricey but nice.

This is a particularly well run National Trust site.

Activities are available for children in addition to plenty for adults to enjoy too.

The tea room is accessed from some stairs. It is well stocked.

The staff are well trained, presentable, friendly and engaging.

The gardens are extensive with woodland to wonder about in too.

The house is well presented and has plenty to learn about.

A great day out. It did help that it was lovely whether when we went but the farmhouse was very interesting and it seems like we missed the guided tour of the house but one of the volunteers inside was more than happy to talk to us about the paintings and Charles II who was hiding in the house. Very interesting all in all and a great cafe! Recommend, it was great for the kids too as there was a great treehouse in the forest there 😃

Entry was free as we'd signed up for one free entry ticket which is valid until 18th of October at any NT location for up to 2 adults and 3 kids. We had a lovely afternoon exploring, plenty for all ages to explore and do! We enjoyed walking through the meadow and woods, my partner loved climbing the tree house and finding a big daisy for our child to admire. Volunteer that we spoke to was very informative and friendly when talking about Charles II and the hall itself. Tea room was good, although not a wide selection of sandwiches were available in the fridge unfortunately. They have a good selection of savoury pastries, but I think nearly 4 pound for one sausage roll by itself is abit much. All in all a fab time was had and we would definitely visit again.

Lovely little national trust venue. Separate car parking across a quiet lane. This is a very small national trust property and they are currently investing in it to make paths more accessible. Lovely bit of history attached to this house. As normal with national trust properties there is a lovely cafe which serves amazing coffee.

Lovely but small grounds.

Fantastic little gem, with a very rich history. Ran and cared for by national trust. Fantastic guides who had super knowledge of the house. Plenty of rooms to explore and beautiful gardens to walk around. They had a load of games for kids in the gardens, den building, and a tree fort. Has a cafe, gift shop and large car park.

I have wanted to come here for quiet a while and today we made it. Decorated for Christmas with evergreen. The snow was an added touch. We joined a guided tour given by Colin which was informative, interesting, entertaining and made me realise my lack of English history. Definitely will return in the summer to enjoy the knot garden and maybe learn more on their other tour. Small but nice cafe, second hand books and delightful ducks.

Very nice historic house, run by the national trust.
A tenner each to get in.

Everything is well looked after and when we went, there were numerous volunteers around the house explaining the different rooms and the history of how King Charles II was in hiding and on the run. I think the tree that he had hidden in is closer to Boscobel House which is nearer Wolverhampton town centre.

All of the furniture inside is period correct, which is basically hand carved. The textiles are all hand made and interesting. There a load of oil paintings around the house. Finally, there is a room which highlights some of the specific historical trinkets. Loved it.

The gardens are really nice. There a few games for the kids to play. There are a couple of bookshops, a cafe and tearoom.

We were probably an hour all in. Didn’t have time for afternoon tea. Maybe next time.

Fantastic place to visit full of history. This place is particularly lovely to visit when the weather is decent. There are some lovely meadows and woods with fantastic areas set aside for you to build dens, play games, or just sit and take in the amazing views.
Charles II hid here while fleeing from Cromwells soldiers in 1651. The priest hole he his from and the bed he slept in are still there today. There is even a letter written by the king to Jane Lane (a lady who helped him on his journey from the house to safety) on display. The gardens are beautiful and the cafe is lovely. Drinks and food are fairly priced, and they had lots of lovely baked goods available.
Parking wasn't an issue with plenty of spaces available.
Be sure to talk to the guids on the way round as they are full of knowledge and stories!
If you love history, or if you don't, this really is a beautiful place to visit

Every National Trust property is worth taking the time to discover, and Moseley Old Hall is no exception.

Not the largest house, but has plenty of stories linked to Charles II and Catholicism. It's well worth going on the guided tour - Ralph has a huge wealth of knowledge to share. (Note that there are several flights of stairs to negotiate).

The gardens are not extensive but still of interest and a longer walk is possible across the field to the woods, or in the meadow behind the car park.

There are several events planned at the venue, so it's always worth checking to see what's on before deciding on your day to visit.

As it's one of the nearest NT places of interest to us, I'm sure we will be back.

Beautiful mansion in a very quite, calm & relaxing area. It's located off the main road, therefore there's no traffic or other form of noise pollution nearby it so I would recommend to anyone who's looking for some stillness and tranquility.
The gardens, woodland and the building as a whole are all very well maintained and looked after.
The past/history of this place is unique and very interesting.
But despite its beauty, it was not crowded or overwhelmed by the visitor's. On one hand, it's a shame because it truly deserves much more attention. On the other hang though, the positive side of this is that it cannot be one frustrating even on a relatively busy weekend or bank holiday, and places around the property can be easily accessed without excessive waiting or queuing. Recommended, including to families with small kids (there are activities even for them.)

The guided tour is fantastic!

What a beautifully kept 17th Century home. The staff were extraordinarily passionate and welcoming, which resulted in a lovely volunteer explaining the history of the house with some additional facts that I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise. The gardens are wonderful and there are plenty of activities dotted around the garden and land for children and families to have fun too (den building, a mud kitchen, giant connect 4, etc.).

There is a cafe around the back, which is a perfect place for a coffee or pit stop after viewing the house and discovering the lands.

Beautiful property with a lot of history, wells worth a visit.

When driving, there is a big car park however you do have to follow some narrow country roads with potholes to get to the property, so drive slowly and carefully.

The voluntary tour guides are all amazing and professional. They explained the history and all the details about the place comprehensively. The tree house is also fabulous to explore, especially good for kids.

We are NT members and thoroughly enjoyed our day carving pumpkins and the trail finding the superstitions. Kids enjoyed it too. Will visit again.

On a dark January morning we decided to visit Moseley Old Hall, as it's not to far from home.
And what a wonderful choice. Although the house is not particularly large, it's very nice and full of history. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, especially the chap in the 'Boardroom'. You could tell that he really enjoyed his job!! He made all the historical facts interesting...so no bored looking faces here. I especially liked the origin of the nursery rhyme 'Rock a by baby'
The lady in the next room was interesting too.
A well stocked second hand book shop finished our visit off nicely. We didn't try the cafe, as we like to picnic. The parking is very good.

A nice relaxing visit a good garden to see and a house with a big story all about a King well there's a good start to any visit. They have ice-cream tea rooms and second hand books to look through.

I visited today with my son. The receptionist without prompting recognised my son may have sensory needs, which he has he is autistic.
She gave him a sensory bag with fidget toys and ear defenders to borrow for our visit, this is fantastic.
We had a lovely time, the tour guides are great with the kids and the cafe was fabulous. Highly recommend.
