The best Zoo in the UK! Visited with my family. Tickets are bought in advance. Parking is free. Well-organized and friendly staff members! If you want to book a buggy, there are single and double buggy available. Only, there is an age and weight limit. 45kg and up to 7 years old. Book VR for kids. Face paint is available all around the zoo, 10-15£. They will love it! Moreover, you can book a family photo option which is an amazing experience. On your way back home you can get them printed. Decent price to be honest. Rhino is outside of the Zoo territory even before you enter so don't forget to see Rhinos! African Quarter is underway and expected to open Summer of 2025. Waiting!

Chester Zoo is one of my most favourite places to visit EVER. I struggle with change though so if I leave too much time between each visit it can be exhausting for my little brain! This just goes to show how the zoo is always evolving and making things better for the animals they care for. I have lots of fond memories of times at the zoo. I love the history of Chester Zoo. Watching Our Zoo on BBC 1 was great as was the book. The only bad thing I feel towards the zoo is the cost of souvenirs. However that's because I have no self control and love all the cute giraffe stuff.
The Chimpanzees are a great troop to visit, the herd of Elephants are very entertaining too and The giraffes ... Well I could spend all day watching them. Food halls I think are reasonably priced although there are lots of great spots for picnics. The staff are excellent in their talks on the animals and are very pleasant and knowledgeable if you catch one to ask a question too.
Handy bus from Chester train Station makes it accessible for non drivers.
Awesome place definitely worth a visit 🦒🐘🐒🦧🦓🦁🐅

This has to be one of the biggest zoos I have been to!

I even heard a lion roar for the first time. Pretty much ever enclosures we were able to see the animals, unlike some other places I have been to where most the animals are hidden.

You can really tell the animals have the care and space they need!

Great place to visit for all. If you book an early access it’s much better to take your time and see all animals. Guides will accompany and describe you for sometime.

Just been to the festive lights at the zoo. Had a brilliant time. Well organised plenty of parking and staff. Lights are great for all ages. Even have interactive characters. Food available (not cheap). Highly recommend

Had a really wonderful day at the zoo. The food was a little pricey, but the animals made up for it. Though it was raining so many of the animals were hiding away, we still got to see a lot

We attended the Chester Zoo Lanterns and Lights event and it was absolutely amazing.

We've attended a few light shows before but this was by the far the best one we have attended due to how interactive it was.

Our kids aged 7 & 4 absolutely loved it!

We went to the lanterns and lights show that they have on in November and December it was fantastic we enjoyed this very much. I would definitely recommend going seeing this stunning event. Be prepared to walk so wear comfy shoes and wrap up.
The only downside was the extortionate price of food and drinks in the food village.

Been a member for quite a while now. Very very nice zoo where you can stay whole day without bore.
Personal favorite is the butterfly room. Most 59 species butterfly in the UK only lives max 3 weeks (vs those last months in tropical area). This room gives the opportunity to see lots of different type of butterflies. Recent digital events like sharks, local wildlife are quite good and informative as well. There are also experience like feeding penguin or butterfly you can book at reception (at a cost but not expensive). Overall a very good place to visit.

An Unforgettable Wildlife Adventure at Chester Zoo

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chester Zoo, and I must say, it was an experience I won't forget! The moment I stepped through the gates, I was immersed in a world of wonder and amazement.

The variety and beauty of the wildlife here are simply breathtaking. From the majestic elephants to the playful monkeys swinging through the trees, every exhibit was a treat for the senses. The zoo's commitment to conservation and animal welfare shines through in every corner.

What impressed me the most was the educational aspect. The informative talks and interactive displays added depth to the experience, allowing visitors to learn while having fun. The staff's dedication and passion for wildlife conservation were evident throughout the park.

The layout is fantastic, offering a well-thought-out path that allowed me to explore comfortably without missing anything. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and there were ample spots to take a break, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.

The zoo's commitment to sustainability and the environment is admirable. It's evident they're not just a place for entertainment but a force for positive change in the world.

Overall, my visit to Chester Zoo was an absolute delight! It's a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone seeking a fantastic day surrounded by beautiful animals and a welcoming atmosphere. A big thumbs up to Chester Zoo for their incredible efforts in wildlife preservation and for providing such an unforgettable experience."

We come to see the Lanterns every year!
This year seemed more organised not so many queues. We Love Matilda the Mammoth. Sadly no little lanterns were given out, we had collected all of them from the beginning. The fairground was a nice addition but not really needed. Rides are £3 luckily we only have one grandchild. £20 for the bubble wands being sold was extremely expensive. We did not purchase. Food and drink was what you normally pay at these type of events. I really feel for families on a budget.
We travel 2 hours each way to visit and look forward to it. We were not disappointed. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Can you help me reword this review. Chester zoo was good. It would have been better if they could train some of the animals not to hide and come out for photos. Plenty of different animals, it took a full day to get around and we aren't slow. Brilliant food choices. Pity that the river ride wasn't working and looks like there used to be a monorail which would have been good. I don't like the way that they ask for a charity donation when buying tickets

Absolutely! Here's a reworded review of Chester Zoo with a more positive and constructive tone:

Had a great day at Chester Zoo! We found a fantastic variety of animals, and it took us a full day to explore (even at a brisk pace), so there's definitely plenty to see. The food options were excellent, with something for everyone's taste.

A few suggestions for improvement:

Animal visibility: While we saw many amazing animals, it would have been even better if some of the more reclusive ones were encouraged to come out more often for photo opportunities. Perhaps enrichment activities or adjusted enclosure designs could help with this.

Closed attractions: It was a shame that the river ride and monorail weren't operational during our visit. Hopefully, they'll be up and running again soon as they would have added another dimension to the experience.

Donation option: While I appreciate the zoo's commitment to conservation, I would prefer the charity donation to be an opt-in rather than opt-out option during the ticketing process.

Overall, we had a really enjoyable day at Chester Zoo and would definitely recommend it to others.

Fantastic zoo with a wide variety of animals to be able to see. Plenty of restaurants and seating areas to eat around the zoo or book a table at The Oakfield

Always clean and animals are well looked after, and they offer educational projects which get changed up year after year

Currently creating a heart of Africa area which will offer stay in lodges which I'm excited to see once completed

We went to the lanterns and lights show that they have on in November and December it was fantastic the adults enjoyed it more then the children. The shop at the entrance was really well priced. I would definitely recommend going seeing. You can’t see the animals they were in bed 😁

Come here on Friday and today and honestly I could just live here, the place is amazing and we are so fortunate to have such an amazing place who care about about the environment and animals! We got a membership and will be keeping it forever because it's so good for children to be able to learn in such a fun exciting way! The staff are so nice the site is as clean as a zoo can be and it's just an amazing fun day out for all ages

Chester Zoo is magical in the day time but the "Lanterns and Light" festival at night time during Xmas period is indeed special.
Beautifully organised and managed the place becomes truly fantastic display of light, colour and music.
You can also grab food, hot drinks and even put marshmallows on fire.
Definitely memorable for children and adults alike.

Loved it, my son had the best time. The food court was a little on the busy side but that's always to be expected! We saw all the animals and enjoyed the river ride. I will definitely be purchasing a membership, it's well worth it.
