Had a fabulous 5 days here on holiday from Australia. Janet the proprietor certainly went out of her way to make my stay enjoyable. The room was great, with full breakfasts daily, plenty of car parking and with easy access to the town. I would recommend anyone to stay here. A great friendly environment.

These guys were great. Always providing for the customers needs and provide a relaxed enviórment. These people literally returned my charger(I’d forgotten) by coming to where I was training and handing it back to me, which is virtually unheard of in every b and b I’ve seen or stayed at. Would recommend to everyone

We visited Sykeside for Sunday lunch and were impressed by the surroundings, the service, the menu and the cost.

We were greeted warmly and shown to a seat in the lounge bar. Our drinks were brought to the table and our order was taken.

We were then shown to our table in the restaurant. Lovely food, well prepared and beautifully presented. We had three courses and then a special mention about the coffee. It was served in a pot and there was enough for at least two cups each.

The cost was most agreeable especially when prices go up in other places on a regular basis.

Great afternoon tea ( with Prosecco! ) served by friendly staff and taking account of requests about being vegetarian. Nice coffee afterwards too.

Went to a birthday party here. It's a lovely place oldy worldly, it doesn't hold to many people I think 40 for a sit down meal but there are 2 rooms one is a conservatory which looks very nice. The meal was lovely and hot plenty of veg to go with it and the puddings were loverly. Plenty of parking and easy access into the building, there are a few steps into the building but they are wide so not to bad to climb. It's a lovely place nice views. Well worth a visit.

Bit dated inside which suits the older generation but the scrumptious meals, value for money and service is spot on.

Every occasion visited has been first class. From our parents Golden Wedding, funerals and even an excellent 'takeaway afternoon tea' when my sister celebtated her 75th birthday but was terminally ill. Beautiful location. Brilliant staff. Great food! 💗

A very well maintained and spotlessly clean hotel. The family that run it are friendly, professional and go that extra mile to ensure that your stay is perfect. We stayed in Room 3 which had a large and comfortable 4 poster bed with crisp white bed linen. The en-suite was modern and had a spa bath, but still retained it’a period charms. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We would definitely recommend the hotel and will stay here again if we’re in the area.

Exceptionally good cream tea here on 5th February for an 80th birthday celebration. The staff were wonderful (shout out for Lydia!) and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was fabulous - someone commented that it was better than the photos on the website - with beautifully soft bread with delicious fillings and an abundance of desserts, all of them fresh and carefully chosen to be part of the tea. Well done, chef! Tea, coffee in abundance. The best cream tea I've ever had. Highly recommended.

Came today for afternoon tea with my best friend. She booked and said it was very easy. The tea itself was superb. Excellent choice of sweet and savoury including hot options, wontons, hot mini quiche and soup to start. Tea was plentiful and refilled regularly. Service was attentive and friendly. A member of staff took me to a comfortable place to change my newborns nappy. We dined indoors as it is v.warm today but they have an orangery attached too. I wouldn't hesitate to return with friends or bring my family, dad, mil etc for a meal. I would also bring hubby for a date night. I'd like to bring my friend who's coeliac so enquired about gluten free and staff advised no problem with notice. It's a hidden gem and very reasonably priced! I hope they do seasonal events like Xmas afternoon tea as we'd love that too 😊

We had a lovely birthday dinner here on 21 st July 2021. The food was first class, and the price was competitive. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Sykeside House.
