There's an excellent selection of beers with some meads and specialty ciders. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. There's so many beers of different price points, flavours and strengths. There's definitely something for everyone if they like beer. I don't but the cider and mead is good and my partner loves the beers I bring back.

I asked for recommendations based on beers I liked and was given some to try which were well received.

A touch expensive for some of the beers but I would happily pay for the variety and to keep, what I suspect, an independent place like this going. Perhaps a loyalty scheme could work?

A wonderful little place with probably the widest range of beers I've seen. Kind staff with a genuine passion for the craft of beer and a limited selection of generally delicious ciders and meads. Out of the way but still easily acceccable with room to park. If you like beer do yourself a favour and swing by.

Excellent selection of fine beers of all kinds from breweries around the world. I bought Tilquin, Lervig, Basqueland and Mikkeler/Boon and a Siren glass. The woman there was really lovely.

Amazing customer service even in lockdown from Chris and Ann at Bitter Virtue. Wanting to buy as a gift and having no knowledge on beer, I emailed Chris with a price range and a couple of pointers recommended by a friend; he selected 8 beers for me to come and collect the very next day which my partner was very impressed with! Fabulous shop with an enviable range. Tons of awesome and boutique craft beers, Belgian and trappist ales you simply don't get in the UK. Chris the owner is an absolute gent and does periodic drives into Belgium to collect the beers you just don't get in the UK normally. One Cask ale normally on sale to enjoy as you peruse the thousands of bottles. Top notch

Just picked up my christmas beer order. Everything ready and waiting when I arrived and great communications when making final adjustments to beers. Clear instructions on Covid rules when in the shop made things safe and straightforward. Great service as always matched with an awesome selection of beers. Thanks again to the whole team.

Amazing store, once you can find it and park. The choice is mind boggling and their is the added bonus of a good choice of gluten free beers. The owners know their stuff and we had a pleasant time shopping here. Oh and husband liked drinking the shopping.

This shop was amazing, if you want to go to a real craft beer shop this is the place! staff are amazing and the selection is great, online stock list is up to date and went there because of this. I came out with the beer I wanted plus more. if I lived closer I would be there every day.

What these guys don’t know about beer just isn’t worth knowing. They can recommend beers based on what you’ll be eating and can give you the history of most of the brewers (they’ve visited many of them). The beer selection is mind blowing, you could visit this place 100 times and not have to have the same beer twice.

Literally packed with an incredible range of beers from the UK and across the world, including a couple of casks of regularly changing ale. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable and will happily advise you, or just chat with you about beer.

Huge ale selection mostly from bottles, but regularly changing draft as well. Incredibly helpful staff and a joy to buy from. Cannot recommend this place more. From outside this little shop looks tiny but once you get in there the selection is superb. It is a treasure trove for us craft addicts.
Only downside is the majority of the beers aren’t refrigerated. But without doubt worth the visit.

Bitter Virtue has an outstanding choice of beers, some well known, many obscure (UK independents, Belgian etc). There's nowhere else like it in the area. Well worth a visit.

Absolute amazing bottle shop. The selection is enormous with seasonal beers, limited editions and everything in between. An absolute must for any beer lover.

I love this place, they are all so approachable and knowledgeable. There are so many options and surprises. My boys are just in there with us (4 and 8) and they were humoured with grace and patience. By those who worked there, not us! Wonderful asset so close to the city centre and Portswood.
