Professional, friendly and very knowledgable about wines and spirits. Not only do they have a variety of stock including small producers, they will go out of their to source particular wines for you. Oh and have I mentioned the chocolates!

Great shop. Wonderful selection of wine from all over the world. Huge display of spirits especially whisky, gin and rum. I went in for cocktail ingredients I could not get anywhere else and was very pleased with the selection and also the accessories. Staff are knowledgeable and very polite and helpful. Also helpful that you can drop off and pick up UPS parcels.

Amazing shop, friendly and informative staff. Nothing is too big or too small and do their upmost to help with any queries. Quick fast delivery service locally but also offer it far and wide. Online ordering is easy to access, looking forward to more delicious treats including their yummy pates and delicious Sherry. Louise

Unrivalled range and knowledge. All the drinks you know are competitively priced but where they are streets ahead is on selection. Whether it's that unusual amaro you had on holiday or a less well know malt, you will find a great range. Just plan to spend a bit of time browsing as the range of wines, liqueurs and spirits is very extensive.

I absolutely love this place. The owner Del is brilliant and the wine selection is second to none; there is just so much to choose from. You really do have to go in and look to see for yourself to believe the range and it’s variety. The staff are really knowledgeable and we go in as often as we can! Don’t wait; go in for a visit / online and treat yourself.

Great place great people. I first found this place after looking for a Swedish pear brandy I found online I didn't expect anyone in the uk to have this product and was only after information yet when I asked about it I was told it was called xante and it was on the shelf to the left. That was about 2 years ago and I've been going there ever since. If it's made there's a good chance this wine shop will have it or be able to get it . Marvellous

I popped in to collect a UPS pickup however with the sizeable range on offer of wines, gin, vodka, whisky and rum (and much more) it was obvious a purchase was needed.
Friendly staff and a superb selection i will certainly be abck again.

I used to think that if I went to the supermarket, I'd get a wine at my price, fitting to my palate. It took a while to realise that the supermarkets were limiting my choice and using their pricing levels to push me down a particular path. Then I came across Alexander Hadleigh and found that I was being restricted in my choice without me being aware. Start with the wine; they've gone out and bought some bulk buys from various vinters and none will disappoint as they are perfectly matched to the price. Sometimes I do want a drinkable wine, of about 11.5%, smooth, yet with enough flavour to make me wonder what lies at the bottom of the bottle. Then there's the other times. Here I want something big. I want a wine that is going to burst from the bottle and makes it presence known at the table! I want a big, bold wine; a heavy wine wine that, if a spilt it on my shirt that I would need a pair of scissors to remove the stain! Then I was offered some wines of a paler colour, let's say it "white"! I used to avoid anything that was paler than my vital fluids - not worth it! I've had heavily oaked white Burgundies, smooth Riojas, several Italian wines from regions I had to check were actually in Italy. A wine shop and geography lesson combined. After the wines, you have to move on to the spirits; shall we talk Rum, or Rhum ? Now I've moved from Geography to history. Why didn't the supermarket stock a Mexican Rum that owes its history to the smuggling of cane spirit into deadhead cargoes returning the Spain? Why is AH the only place where I can find a Rum from each of the islands from the Caribbean. Then there's the whisky, and the whiskey, and the Bourbon. As you move, stop by the Gin selection. You may as well do, read the labels as you browse. The resurgence of Gin in this country is not being served well by the mainstream shops. Have you tried a cask strength Gin, in excess of 60% alcohol, full of flavour and had the edges smoothed with a drop of cool water. A good gin, bursting with aromatic scents , should not be hammered flat with enough ice to sink the Titanic, drowned in an overpowering 'mixer', then dressed up like a lapdog with flowers, vegetables and fruit. A good spirit should be able to stand on its own strength; whether it is a rum, whisk(e)y, vodka, gin, brandy, calvados, annisette, and the list continues. Pop into AH and look. Come back again when you've had some time to consider, then, and only then, go back and buy yourself a treat. Hoard it, don't share it. I'm recommending either 'El Ron Prohibido' rum or 'The Botanist' gin - from Bruichladdich on Islay - as a starting point. Once you've been exposed to a decent selection of of wines and spirits, return to buy a present for your friends and family knowing that you'll both enjoy the purchase and hope that they'll take the hint and return the compliment.
