They don’t have a review or star option for the food here, so I’m here to rave about the Sunday carvery in this historic old inn and pub! It’s honestly one of the BEST roast dinners I’ve EVER had and it’s great value for the amount of food. There is a buffet option of Beef, Pork and Turkey..always tender and falls apart with a fork and so well seasoned. I always go for the beef. The roast potatoes are crispy and seasoned on the outside and flakey mash inside. The honey roasted parsnips are amazing and the gravy! Great consistency and full of flavour. You could totally get by and have your fill as a veggie only option as well. At £13/person and half price for kids, it’s a great Sunday option…only wish it was available every day of the week.
Their service is top notch, with a great mix of regulars/locals and drop ins. Call ahead to book a table on busier/holiday weekends. Fab job to all…see you Sunday!

Stayed here a few times. Interesting and quirky rooms. The whole building is superb; to be honest, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Gloucester!

Review a only for the accommodation and property character. Didn't get to experience it's other amenities. Very nice property steeped in history. Would like to return to sample a fuller experience and staff interaction. If it's as welcoming as it's historic charm it will be a good return visit

A lovely old inn! One of, if not the oldest in Gloucester. Friendly staff but most importantly, affordable drinks!! Definitely will return

We choose to stay here to be Central to Gloucester and the bars as we were celebrating a birthday.
I had booked one double and one twin room.
We didn't arrive untill around 8.30pm as we had been out celebrating but this was no problem for the staff for us to check in.
The rooms were lovely and clean.
The hotel itself had such amazing vibes. we really loved that old traditional feel. Although the corridors felt like we were in that horror film with the twin girls in the long narrow hallway. As a horror film lover we loved the feel of it.
We loved how the hallway were so old and crooked.

We went to the bar at 8.45 where they had Karaoke - fantastic for my 9 year old who was able to do one quick song before having a bite to eat before bed. We only had light bites (chicken strip's, chips and my daughter had a kids Burger meal) as we had been out for a big family meal but what we did have was lovely.

Unfortunately we had arranged to meet family the next morning for breakfast so we left by 10am and didn't get to try their breakfast but the restaurant looked lovely and we had heard good reviews on the breakfast also.
we liked the fact the check out was at the later time of 11am even though we didn't make use of the lay in.

The location for us was perfect as we went to a few local bars and it was all within a short walking distance

This will certainly be our go to hotel next time we are in Gloucester.

Thank you to all the staff for being friendly and helpful. Just wish we were around longer as it literally was just for us to put our head down for the night. But next time we will certainly be around for longer, it was just a crazy busy weekend or us. But thanks again for making us feel so welcome xxx

I had an amazing stay with my parents and then also a few days by myself. The breakfast buffet had a good and fresh english buffet, cereal and fresh fruit etc.
The rooms were very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The kind cleaning ladies did an amazing job every day, fresh towels were provided daily and the rooms were very clean.
The activities on the weekends (karaoke & live music) were nice and also not too loud in the rooms.
The staff was very kind and always provided helping hands.
I hope to return to this pub, for meals as well as for a vacation stay! :)
Thanks!

Took me back in time, and the venue is gorgeous. The staff are super friendly. The food is very reasonably priced. Rooms are very big and spacious, and the bathroom is very clean. The location is perfect.
The only thing I could say is that carpets need a clean.
Definitely recommend it and would be looking forward to staying again.

Considering we had a room to sleep three it was surprisingly spacious and the beds were comfortable. Conveniently located in the centre of town everything was within walking distance.
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good, enough choices to suit all but the fussiest eaters.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again without hesitation.

I didn't stay there this time, but I can say the rooms were good from memory... The last time I went was for a quiet place to have a chat with an old friend, and the time before that was for a Sunday lunch...

This place is pretty much what you would expect from an old fashioned family pub in the centre of town with an Inn! )))

Absolutely brilliant. Location is perfect for the guildhall and the staff were superb. The room was clean, if in need of a little maintenance, but I couldn't fault it. The building is old and of course needs some tlc, but if you can look past that, you can't go wrong here. The bed was the comfiest I have slept in for a long time and there was no traffic noise yo keep you awake which is so often a problem in city centre rooms.
Will definately stay again when we have the chance.
Thank you 😊

Ideal for the Gloucester Cajun Festival nearby. Never stayed there before, always booked up. Really glad to get a room there this time. Right from registering very fast and efficient service, very friendly and the lady concierge was bright and bubbly and very helpful.

The team at the New Inn were awesome! We held our wedding reception in tree tops, booked up the majority of the rooms and had the team cater for us. We made numerous changes, juggled the food requirements, had access all day the day decide to dress the room and Blair, Harry & the team couldn’t do more to assist! We had a fantastic stay and we can’t thank the New Inn enough for being so accommodating. For those moaning reviews about rooms, come on guys!! It’s a historic building not the Ritz! Comfy bed, hot shower, great breakfast, amazing service! I hundred percent would hold another event here! Thank you guys!!!

Why even visit England if you're not going to stay in an old, falling down tudor with a pub for a lobby, a suit of armor and slanty floors?

The shower was hot, water pressure was great, the tv got lots of strange english channels, and my suitcase rolled away when I set it down.

Location is excellent, short distance to the transport hub and right next to tons of great shops and restaurants with great prices and great food. I wandered around looking for breakfast but ended up coming back to the inn for the full english which was also phenomenal 👌👌

Loved the hotel. Very old building built in 15th century so very quirky. Megan the receptionist was fantastic a credit to the hotel
The man behind the bar with the dreadlocks ( sorry forgot his name) was amazing as well. All so friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

I read some of the reviews, some excellent, some not so good. Decided to give it a whirl to find out as it wasn't expensive and heard nice things about Gloucester.
All I can say is the new inn offers exceptional value for money. Beautiful building still retaining a medieval feel particularly in it's own courtyard. The room was more than sufficient and the breakfast was very tasty. Now if you want everything pristine and perfect this is not for you but if you want a warm welcome, helpful staff, a fabulous atmosphere, great location and incredible value for money, then I suggest you give this place a go. You won't be disappointed!

Lovely place to stay. The only thing was the seagulls making a noise all night due to being near a bin area and some noisy guests in the early hours of the morning wanting to enter the building

Placed in Town Centre New Inn was an amazing place to stay in. When I walked in I felt like I moved in time to XV-XVI century 😍 the old architecture is just amazing. I love places like that. If you’re like me you’ll just feel thrills of excitement jus seeing the inside off this place ☺ My room was cosy and bed really comfortable. Staff was nice and friendly. Food was delicious.

I went on a Ghost Tour in Gloucester and apparently this place is haunted 😉 nothing unusual happened so I have no evidence ;) but I recommend a tour, you can learn quite few interesting facts about the town ☺

(I’ve been there in May on Bank Holiday weekend)
