Dr K Luxman - The Sundridge Medical Centre

I was cycling along the main road. Came across a schoolgirl who had fallen badly, being looked after by passers by. She looked concussed. Went to medical centre, 100 yds away, to ask for help. The receptionist told me they couldn't help because the doctor was fully booked for and I should call an ambulance. The road was gridlocked with road works, and the ambulance would have taken a very long time. I explained, but got the same reply. Then the doctor came out. She said the same thing, plus that the administration to look after a child who might not be from the practice would be very complicated, and that if the child went to the practice it would take even longer for the ambulance to get there. The doctor looked stressed by all the admin. I went back to the girl by which to time her father had picked her up and taken her to the practice anyway. I think the the NHS is wonderful, and our doctors and nurses are true heroes. But I was surprised and disappointed by the complexity of dealing with this emergency, and also that I was kept for quite a long time listening to explanations why they couldn't help when I really needed to get back and help the girl. I don't criticise the doctor, she was clearly doing her best, but there has to be something badly wrong with the system if they were so unable to help.

Funny, we were at this practice today. The man who posted this was right about the parking. He asked my husband who was waiting in the car for me waiting to have an asthma checkup, if he would pull out and park over by fence so he could park in our space. Husband said 'no' so he then came in and started getting upset about lack of parking. Pretty shirty bloke anyway, drives an Audi TT, need I say more? There was an empty space up against the corner he could have used but difficult to pull in or out afterwards. I found a problem booking in on screen as i'd arrived too early (but as theres been roadworks and get stuck in traffic we had to get there early). Did not realise you could be too early! at least I turned up!
