Be very careful.

I spent £3.14. They put that on one card machine, then said it wasn’t working. So they used another card machine. I didn’t notice that they had put £314 on the second machine.

Luckily, I check my credit card statement carefully, and I noticed six weeks later what they had done.

When I called them out, they checked their records and agreed that they had done it, but with barely an apology, and no recognition of how serious a matter it was.

Certainly no question of giving me anything different than the £310.84 that I had overpaid.

No offer of a bottle of wine or box of chocolates to compensate me for the fact that I had to drive back there a couple of times and the risk they had put me at, of going over my CC limit, for example.

Obviously, I don’t know whether this was a genuine, one off, mistake, or whether it is a regular attempt at fraud. but I would just recommend others to be very careful, or maybe to go to the neighbouring convenience store in Brasted.
