Really nice place for a walk or ride bikes with or without dogs several routes to take. Canal boat rides. Museum to look around. Cafe for refreshments. Sometimes they have a food fair on site too

Really interesting place to visit. Start with a boat ride up the canal, then stroll round the museum learning about the history of the furnace, top it off with a cream tea baked fresh by the museum staff. Highly recommended. Tickets required for the boat trip but the museum is free to enter.

Went and had lunch yesterday, great menu with vegan and vegetarian choices, lovely oat milk latte.
Had a very relaxing cruise up the canal on the barge, and a good look round the museum and lime tunnels, very interesting history to the whole place.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Afterwards we walked up the canal to Donisthorpe woodlands and back round to Moira Furnace, there are information 'boards' dotted around the walk keeping you informed on the areas history

My first visit to Moira Furnace was wonderful meeting volunteers and chatting about its history. A nice museum with history of our heritage and tea room and shop(recommend the ice cream thats made locally). A pleasant boat trip along the Ashby Canal towards Donisthorpe at a reasonable price. Picnic tables and grounds to sit and many pathways to explore including the Ashby Canal walk down to Donisthorpe and explore the woodland. Parking access for disabled and non disabled and pathways good for walkers, mountain bikers, and also wheelchair and pushchair. Feeding the ducks too which is fun for the kids too. A nice day and i recommend it.

A beautiful place for a family or a walk with dogs. It has a beautiful forest, free car parks and play ground for children. The boat trip is highly recommended, it will take around 15 minutes. The museum is also very nice and interesting and it will also take around 15 minutes to see it all. There is also a cafe which serves food as well as hot and cold drinks.

We are on holiday at a local site and came here for a day out, unfortunately the museum and the boat wasn’t open as only open weekends at this time of the year but we still had a really lovely time here.
We walked up and down the side of the canal which was pretty, walked through the forest to the children’s playground which was great and well maintained. We used the public toilets which were clean and well maintained and had lunch in the little cafe which was delicious.
We did some more exploring in the forest and in the old Lime Kilns
We had a great day here and would recommend. All free to access and free parking but you can make a donation using the handy QR codes on the entrance gate

First time visit. Amazing atmosphere as the folk festival was on. Even got to try Morris dancing 😁. Make sure you try the boat trip down the canal. Excellent!

Brilliant place to visit with the children. Lovely boat ride on the canal- only a short one but long enough. You can purchase duck food to take aboard. The museum is informative and explains well the history of the furnace. The walk around the woods and the lime kilns was fun. This place is run by volunteers. Today I spoke to a husband and wife who are volunteers- both were lovely and welcoming. Thank you for a wonderful day out. I've recommended to family and friends to visit 😊

It's a lovely, peaceful place. This was our second visit, this time with the grand children. Nice walks through the woods, playground is not very big but it keeps the children occupied. Our two are slightly older 6 & 8 but they still enjoyed it. Nice climbing trees next to the playground were great too. Large grounds to kick a ball around or take a few swings at the tennis ball. Nice people around. Small cafe for something to eat or some treats.

Really lovely place to visit. My boys loved exploring the tunnels and playing on the park. The boat ride was really good and socially distanced. It was about 15mins long which was perfect for my 5 and 2 year old

The museum is fascinating and well presented. The onsite cafe is great and food has never disappointed.
The park is nice and the canal walk although not very long is really nice.
Visited a few times whilst events are on, they tend to be well done and parking is really easy.

Loved it, there's lots to do, wish we had more time today, there's a craft village that we didn't get to see, walks, park, museum and we went on the canal boat ride. We will definitely go again soon.
