We were gifted a Royal Mint tour & afternoon tea for Christmas and attended today. We had an absolutely fascinating tour - including speaking to current factory workers and getting to handle freshly minted money, getting to strike our own coins and learn so much we never had a clue about. We followed that up with the afternoon tea part which was fabulous and we were truly treated like Royal-Tea! If there was one thing I could improve it would be to be given more time on the tour to take in all the information that had been provided - there was quite a bit we didn't get to read or look at. Otherwise well worth it!

We went on the tour yesterday & the whole experience was excellent. The parking facilities were good, the shop and the cafe really good. We entered the building and went through the security checks, our guide Daniel was knowledgeable, funny and entertaining. We learnt loads about the process of making coinage and really enjoyed seeing inside the factory. The exhibition was really good with lots of information about the history of the mint, interactive sections for children. This is a great place to visit for any age and if you’re interested in coins (or even if you’re not), I would highly recommend a visit. You can’t take photos in the actual factory section, but outside of the processing area, you can take as many as you wish.

We decided to do the two people tour with coin striking and a meal ! For £55 bargain.
Out tour guide Ian was very helpful and informative - tour was around the right time not too long but not too short - good value for money - it would be nice to know what coin you would be striking upon booking as I feel more people may opt into do this ?
Meal at the cafe was lovey very friendly staff and they had gluten free options available upon asking which was fantastic !
Definitely worth a visit u if you are already up this way !
Thank you for the lovely experience ☺

Fantastic visit. Daniel the tour guide was amazing considering his first tour.
Would happily recommend to anyone. Only downside was their is certain areas where photography is not permitted due to what’s in the room and the particular section of the tour. But, the Your Guides and security are clear about these sections in advance. Very interesting to see how coinage is made.

This certainly was an interesting place to visit, the whole process of smelting, rolling, preparing metal and finally stamping and making coins is described in detail, each step is demonstrated and you can touch and feel the result.
The visit to the actual workshop is from behind screens for security reasons but again the process and the machinery are explained in depth, you can touch freshly minted (hot from the press) coins as part of the tour.
The remaining section of the tour is when the history of the Royal Mint is explained and why it is now located in Wales and the number of different coins and medals that are struck by the Royal Mint are explained.
Throughout the tour the staff are excellent ready and willing to answer simple or technical questions.
There is a chance to strike your own coin as a keepsake.
Ther is a nice cafe with a good selection hot and cold dishes, baked treats and hot and cold drinks.
The modern toilets are really nice, clean and fresh, and there is plenty of free parking adjacent to the site.
This is a secure area and you will be searched prior to entry,

Extremely enjoyable and informative place to visit, the museum covers the making of coins from the first coin to coins of today. The tour is very informative, explaining the making of coins from raw materials all the way to the finished currency, including all foreign coins made.
If you take a weekend tour, the factory floor is not in operation, but! you do get a chance to go onto the factory floor. Because if you do a weekday tour, you're only allowed to watch from behind the glass. Security is tight, but that's to be expected. Also, it has a nice cafe to get something to eat and drink.

The tour and museum were both fantastic - very engaging and informative about how our coins ware made (from design through to delivery) and that the Royal mint also makes other countries coinage. The tour was about 45-55 minutes then allow at least another 30-45+ for the exhibition afterwards.

Tours should be prebooked as they can sell out. Ours had about 20 people with variety of ages, and everyone seemed engaged. As it was a bank holiday we were able to go on the factory floor rather than just viewing through glass, which was a nice touch.

Photos are not allowed during the tour, but are in the exhibit.

The cafe is nice for a snack or lunch - the sandwiches were actually great quality especially for the moderate price.

Toilets are newer and clean.

Car park had ample parking and only a two minute walk from the entrance.

Just amazing how the world's coins are made, not just the pound. Had an amazing tour guide called Cat, and a very knowledgeable security guard. It did cost £55 for 2 of us with a meal and you get to mint your own 50p x 2 (just push a button) but still worth it. Would recommend it and if I'm down that neck of the woods I would go again. Best to book online before you go.

Very interesting place for those old enough to appreciate it. Staff extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the history and current scenario. Who knew we made coins for so many other countries?!

Cafe was reasonable but not very exciting.

Shop was expensive but full of great gifts if you happen to be loaded.

I would say there's very little point taking anyone under the age of 8 there unless they have a pre-existing fascination surrounding coins and their history.

Hugely interesting place to visit. Hard to imagine that every single coin I have held in my hand has come from this one factory.

The guided tour is well worth the money so informative. And the exhibition has some amazing jem's to look at

Quite a small exhibition that’s packed with plenty of information. Habitual shop on exit with a few unusual gifts. Great cafe on site with choice of food and drinks. Plenty of parking. An interesting place to while away 2-3 hours if you take your time and dine as well.

The Royal Mint guided tour and museum are awesome.
Our tour guide was lovely 4/11 @ 11:30 -Lots of very interesting facts without being information overload.
One of the best museums (if you can call it that) that I've been to.

This was a coin collectors heaven. It was really good, I loved the tour and going inside the factory itself. I'd recommend booking personally, but you don't have to. Plenty of parking disabled and normal. Overall, the tour lasted about an hr, maybe less if no one asks any questions. Our tour guide was brilliant. She knew her stuff x
