Solent GP Surgery - Portswood Site

Be cautious, as there have been numerous car break ins by smashing car window in this area.

I have had problems phoning the triage people first thing in the morning..... BUT it's understandably hectic!
I've never had an issue with any of the staff..... from reception to the GP service.
I've always felt listed to and that I am important!

I had to register here temporarily and found the service very efficient, polite and friendly. I was able to get my essential prescription quickly.

Excellent Dr's, Nurses and Reception staff. Only problem, getting through to them by phone since the system was changed.

I think they've repented; I've been getting really good service recently. Halleluja! A man ( and a woman, and chairs and cabbages .. ) can change.

All the staff are lovely and phenomenally helpful

Friendly and helpful reception. Fantastic nurses and helpful doctors. Only 2 negatives for me so far..

1 is not being able to book appointments unless they are the same day or weeks and weeks in advance.

The other is that the phones are not sorted and I've rung about 20 times today and never getting through to anyone.

Pretty good got seen and examined ok staff were good only problem having to wait outside for so long

Great team, and coping with pressures. Only thing is the phones need to be answered more since the change of system they just ring out.

Friendly staff, but you cannot book for an appointment in advance which is very frustrating.. Difficult but possible to book an appointment in the morning by phone, but expect it to ring without a pick up. For a guaranteed visit be there before 8am for a appointment.

For 2 weeks this surgery have failed to get my prescription sent off to the company I use for medical supplies. They nearly got it right this time but didn't order the correct amounts so I have to wait yet again. As for phoning them and being connected to a call centre with staff that are worse than useless I now prefer going straight to the surgery even though I find it difficult to walk because of previous chemo treatment. The one thing good I can say about this surgery is the doctors are fantastic.

While I don't have an issue with the Surgery I do have an issue with the receptionist who isn't too helpful at all. on one occasion Tthe doctor asked me to arrange an appointment for 3 weeks as a review of the drugs i was taking so I went to the receptionist and asked nicely only to be told firmly "No, we don't have any appointment" I asked if I could book another later date and was met swiftly with the same answer, I called back when I got home and managed to get an appointment arranged without issue.

Reading the reviews I see that it isn't just be with the issue.
