Stunning ruins in a stunning location. There is an atmosphere to ewloe castle that makes it feel just a little special, the setting is unique and beautiful. There is plenty left to see of the castle itself so give yourself enough time to have a good explore. There is a small staircase which leads up to an area that gives you a fantastic view of the whole area. There is a small information board that gives you a little bit of history regarding the castle but this is very limited mainly due to the fact that very little is known about its past. A short walk from the castle is the sight of the battle of ewloe which also has a little information board. After you've had a good look around it is well worth taking a walk through werpe park to the cafe

We had a nice bank holiday walk through Wepre park Up to the castle along the river/stream.
Information signs about the site were very good and the view from the top has your knees wobbling.

A beautiful and very interesting place. Gorgeous streams and small waterfalls. Quite hilly. The dog loved the place.

Fantastic ruin in the middle of woodland.
Not a huge amount to see but worth the walk up.

I say You must visit to appreciate this place, Castle ruins preserved to its best, trails some areas bit sloppy and slimy, but thats the fun of it, recommend taking dirt boots(due to rain and mud in the trail), Great place for dog walk or just walk....along with the mystery castle, the rock formations and the history behind it is also worth exploring....

Beautiful castle ruins with a great view when you get to the top. Walked across a field on a pathway and into a wooded area to get there. Was quiet and serene. Managed to get some cool drone footage.

Has to be one of the strangest places to find a castle, what a little gem. Free to vist, in the middle of a woodland surrounded by rivers. No parking apart from a little layby and it's a good 15 minute downhill walk to the castle.

Majestic and interesting place to see! Free parking on the side of the road and only a 5min walk from the road itself. You would never believe it was there! So intact for it’s age and can climb all the way to the top safely! Suitable for families.

Amazing little castle, with lots of history to go with it. Great spot for a picnic and some pictures too. There are lots of paths through the surrounding woodland, I recommend taking a trail or two as it’s a beautiful woodland. There is a wetland are and a river too, a great walk along a boardwalk so you and the little ones can see down and look for frogs and lizards.

Really interesting castle. Not huge but good ruins to explore and you can still climb up the remaining tower. The location is what makes it particularly interesting, as it is nestled in a wooded valley rather than perched on the high ground or by the head of a valley or river. Very nice to walk around the surrounding woodland. Can park on the road and just cut across the field to reach it. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area

Lovely old castle hidden in Wepre park. Nice views from the top. It’s a good little adventure to find and explore. I’m sure kids would love it too.

Great place for all ages. Thry have a cafe, toilets, playground, skate park, football pitches, pond, streams, bridges, walkways, fields, and a castle... I'm sure I've missed something out.

We enjoyed a walk to Ewloe castle from Wepre park. There is plenty of parking at the Wepre park entrance including disabled spaces. The park has a visitor centre and lots of children’s play areas including a skate park. But the walk through the woods along the river is really beautiful with waterfalls and easy walk ways. It is a bit hilly in parts and when you get to the castle there are some wooden steps that are quite tough if you’re not very mobile. To get inside the old castle walls there are some more steps. The castle is in an unusual spot being in the woods. The history of the area and the battles that were fought are interesting and displayed on information boards along the route. It’s Definitely worth a visit.

Located within Wepre Park towards the southern end and atop the hill is the ruins of Ewloe Castle. It is free to enter and despite only being ruins, there are a set of steps leading up one of the towers which provides a great view of the castle below and the wider area.

Great day out, highly recommend for a good walk. Dogs and family loved it. Had a lovely picnic at the castle. Will be taking spare shoes and towels next time so can go in the river under the waterfall as looked great fun on a hot day!

A super tucked away ruined castle, lovely walk across the fields and through a wooded area to reach the castle. Large ruins and a lovely tranquil place to explore or have a picnic. Can get busy on warm days but decent shoes boots needed.
