Where to start, the food was simply incredible. Some of the best dishes you’ll eat outside of London. A truly hidden gem

Went for afternoon tea with my wife. Atmosphere and staff absolutely spot on. Food slightly disappointing for such a quality restaurant. The scones were overcooked and the sandwiches could have been more exciting, cakes very good with a large selection. Overall we both really enjoyed our visit

Oh my word !! What a hidden gem this place is.

Staff were very attentive, swift and polite.
Food was fantastic, plenty of it and cooked well. (Chef please note roast potatoes were a bit dry inside for future reference), plenty of choice and lovely cocktails.

We will definitely be coming back for sure for your French night on a Thursday.

I was a little dubious when I read reviews after having booked for the set lunch menu, however I was delightfully surprised. This is an old beamed building decorated to enhance the features with beautifully comfortable large leather chairs. The staff were polite and attentive. The food was delicious and made with top class ingredients and seasoned just right. Yhere is a large garden at the rear with tables should you wish to sit outside. Behind the garden is a large free council car park.

Varied menu for a Sunday, but opted for the Sunday Roast, cooked to perfection with a very good quality/quantity balance

The best Sunday roast I've ever had. Chose turkey, it was super succulent and delicious and came with the most perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned green vegetables. Lovely!

We was running late for our afternoon tea so I rang them. The staff where very friendly , and held our spot , for another 20 mins for us.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and chairs where so comfy. We will definitely be returning again. The afternoon tea was an absolute delight you couldn’t fault it. The cakes and scones where so soft and very yummy 😋

Lovely afternoon tea at this very cosy restaurant and bar. The tea was nicely presented with a good choice along with a complimentary glass of prosecco.Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back if in the are.

Food was delicious (for the most part, one starter out of the 10 on our table was overdone and barely edible but they more than made up for that with the mains and puddings). Portion sizes were generous, service very good.

A fabulous afternoon cream tea with our grandson age 9. The food sweet and savoury was everything and more, eg, savoury scones had stilton melted on the top, the chocolate orange torte delicious, Our grandson said 'it's heaven' when he saw it all. They made him a fruit punch and frappiccino, the waitress called him sir, made him feel special and grown up. Thank you.

Went to The Hegist tonight for a birthday celebration and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, tasty very well cooked and presented, and a good portion. I had lamb and it was lovely. The staff were very attentive and as a bonus there was a live singer. All in all I would highly recomend this reasurant excellent food and lovely staff. Oh my wife won four cocktails which were superb 👌. Parking is at the end of the road car park its free.

This is one of Kent's leading fine dining restaurants. The food was exquisite, and the service was excellent. A truly professional team.

Went to the Hengist with the family and we had a fantastic meal. The food was perfectly cooked and presented and the service was excellent. The ambience in the restaurant was great and the noise levels were low, 👍

Went for afternoon tea. Had a voucher which made it quite reasonable. Free parking around corner then very short 2 min walk. Good location. Decor nice upon entrance, could do with a freshen up upstairs but still nice. Tea cup had ring marks from previous drinkers! Staff very friendly and approachable and helpful. Couldn't ask for nicer staff really. Would go back just for the hospitality. Afternoon tea was a massive hit. Delicious. The egg mayo sandwiches were so tasty and the cheese scones were to die for. So so good. And there was plenty of choice and good size portions. Something for everyone. I'd like to go back for a meal, which I will soon. Thank you Hengist.

Top quality restaurant, attentive staff , outstanding food & excellent wine , will definitely be going back

We sat in the rear garden in the shade. Beautiful. We had a coffee and it was perfect. The service was really great . Can't wait to try the main menu next time .
