amazing location and efficient service. the hot chocolate was one of the best one if have had in a while, very decadent, thick and chocolatey. the churros and the chocolate farton were also very tasty.

For my first Horchata and Farton experience in Valencia, I decided on the crowd favourite Orxateria Santa Catalina. My second was Orxateria Daniel, just a street or so away.

Being Southeast Asian, I couldn't help but compared the Horchata to Southeast Asia's Soya Bean Milk. They are similar: Milky but not from animal lactose, with the Horchata made out of the "tiger nut" chufa tubers that tasted much more raw on the palate. Unlike the Soya Bean Milk which is made out of soya beans, the Horchata is overwhelmingly sweet, similar to that of pressed sugar cane juice. If sugar had been added to the Horchata, then it would be unnaturally overwhelmingly sweet, and mega-calorific. Not for diabetics!

The waitress at Orxateria Santa Catalina recommended pairing the Horchata with a Farton, a fluffy doughnut stick which is dipped into the Horchata. Meh... It did nothing for me. 😬

Oddly, even though from different cultures more than 6,000++ miles apart, dipping a Farton into the Horchata is similar to a Southeast Asian dipping a deep-fried dough fritter into the Soya Bean Milk. 😉

Served chilled, the Horchata at Orxateria Santa Catalina was almost pure creamy white in colour, way smoother and clean on the palate, and did not have the chufa tuber residue floating about in the drink, when compared to the Horchata served by Orxateria Daniel. But, both pretty much tasted the same.

However, the Farton at Orxateria Santa Catalina was distinctively lighter and fluffier than Orxateria Daniel's. I preferred the former.

Although not my favourite drink on this planet, I can see why the Horchata is a summer favourite, even though it appears to be sold all year round. 👍👍👍

Churros being dipped into thick chocolate seem to be popular, and there are other pastries and gelato being offered as well.

I love the ambience at this Orxateria, with the decor reminiscent of old Spain. The waitress who assisted me was helpful and courteous, and didn't mess about. 😉

The €5 Horchata and Farton are far more costly than the €1 Soy Bean Milk and Deep-fried Dough Fritter. So, will I go for the Horchata and Farton again when in Spain? No. 😂😂😂 But, a good tourist experience nonetheless which I encourage all to try. We only live once.

The service was quick and efficient. The people who take the orders are very friendly.

I liked the regular and chocolate churros. The hot chocolate is ok. The farton is not my style but the Horchata is heaven sent. I had two when I visited. 😂

Amazing churros and hot chocolate. It's all i came here for based on reviews and google searches. It stands up to It's hype. 🙂

The churros comes hot and fresh with 4 pieces on a plate. And the hot chocolate thick and warm enough to dip the churros in a soon as they land on your table.

Servers were great. I mean, minimal interaction needed anyway as i went alone and that's all i ordered. Surprisingly but not an issue at all is thta as soon as they bring your order to the table, they as to pay right away. Again not an issue, just something I've not experienced before.

My one regret! I came from the central market before going here. I had ham sandwich there and sangria. On my way here, i saw a churro shop outside the market and ordered churros as well 😄 (last 2 pics are from there, you'll see the branding on the paper cup). So this is my 2nd order of churro within the hour and i can't finish it coz im full. I only ate 2 pieces. Skip the one at the market if you get tempted. Its also good dont get me wrong, but this is better ambience, seating and all.

Stopped in for Churros Y Chocolate and a Horchata. The chocolate dip was really thick and tasty. The Horchata was different from the Mexican style I was used to, it reminds me more of a sweet soy bean drink. Overall Delicious and a quick pick me up stop.

Very cozy little Horchateria in the centre of Valencia. I had a churros breakfast with fresh churros and chocolate and cappuccino. Churros were amazing, hot, crispy and yummy. Chocolate was the most tasty I had in Valencia. Great experience, will come back again

Horchata is completely vegan and delicious. Churros are vegan, too. But unfortunately they don't have a vegan chocolate sauce...
Otherwise the place is very famous and always crowded with people. Fast service.

My tour guide said while it’s touristy it’s still the best place to try horchata and fartons.
Got a table straight away on my lonesome and took the waitresses advice on which farton to try with the horchata.
Order came straight away and I was happy with the taste. Quite similar to my milk of choice at the minute, oat milk.

Awesome! What's not to love? Is it touristy - yes! Is it good - yes! Just for the experience go here. The Horchateria is delicious - pastries amazing. Don't leave Valencia having not been here.

A traditional orxateria, with beautiful authentic wall paintings. The employees were extremely helpful and they even gave us advice on good restaurants to have paella. The food was also nice and I enjoyed trying out the traditional dishes. Worth going for breakfast.

First time trying horchata & fartons and was pleasantly suprised. Horchata especially is a very refreshing unique taste that is hard to describe without having some!

Santa Catalina was recommended to us by a local and so we went the first chance we had. Was very busy and loud, but there is plenty of extra seating upstairs

Traditional coffee place, offering churros, tiger nut drinks and ice cream. I am amazed by the simplicity and the flavor. The staff are quite hustle and not very friendly, but i will still go again for the food.

Well known and popular location for a good reason; the sweet snacks were delicious and service was fast.

Recommend trying the Horchata, Fartons, Churros and Hot Chocolate here; really tasty.

You can definitely share the hot chocolate and one order of churros (comes in 4). Fartons are per order though compared to other places in Valencia is on the premium side, though still reasonable.

You simply sit on a table and a waitress will come take your order, serve and pay. The vibe is a bit fast paced, so not really a place to sit down for an hour or two.

We liked it from the first experience so had to pop back in for a 2nd time before we headed off; best time is after lunch during siesta time.

I still dream about the horchata here 3 years since my last visit. So sweet delicious and nutty in flavour. Perfectly paired with farton - a light fluffy pastry. Plenty of seating available

Had a quick breakfast here. Food and service brilliant, most of the servers spoke English too! They had a traditional drink which we missed hopefully you won't!

Must try but come mid-afternoon when it’s not that busy. Little tip: try dipping the farton into the Horchata :)

Where history meets potential sugar overdose.
Trinity of quality breakfast items, i.e. pastries, coffee and hot chocolate, always wait for St Catalina's guests.
Do not leave the place without fartons in your tummy.

Amazing horchata. The best I’ve ever had. Just astounding. The churros and the pastries were good as well. The line seems long, but the place has tons of tables, so you don’t wait long. Just go and go for it. I would say that it’s an absolute must-try. The prices are also reasonable.
