Love this market! Huge variety of food, both fresh groceries and cooked dishes. We wondered around for hours trying things from different stalls including fresh oysters! Great place to spend the afternoon. Only open until 3pm.

Nice place to visit to grab some snacks and taste some of the localities.

There you can buy veggies, fresh and cured meats, cheeses, oils and amazing seafood and even some jewelry.

The Pescados stand was amazing, there you can get some fresh Unis ( sea urchin) and oysters 🦪 by peace and try right there with lemon. That was so yummy!

We tried cheese and sausages too.
As well as some really nice olive oils.

Amazing place to check out if you’re a foodie and you can get some gifts too!

The Central Market is one of the iconic places in Valencia. The architecture of the building itself, specially built for market trade, is noteworthy. But the most interesting thing is inside. There are fruit and vegetable rows and butcher shops with such a variety of jamon! Fish ruins are easy to find by their specific smell. But this is not the smell of a week’s catch, but a mixture of aromas of the freshest fish, octopus, cuttlefish and many more unknown sea creatures. Here you can wander around just like that, watching with interest the interactions between sellers and buyers, plunging into truly Spanish everyday life.

During my visit to the Central Marketplace in Valencia, I was immersed in a vibrant atmosphere brimming with fresh produce, a variety of fish and meat, and an array of local delicacies. This marketplace is a treasure for those who seek authentic, quality products at reasonable prices.

One of the highlights of my visit was the abundance of fresh produce. Each stand showcased an impressive range of fruits and vegetables, vibrant in color and enticing in freshness. The fish and meat sections were equally impressive, offering fresh, high-quality options that are perfect for any culinary enthusiast.

I was particularly pleased to find an organic stand located near the fish sections. This stand exclusively sold organic produce, a real gem for health-conscious shoppers like myself. The quality and range of organic options available were truly remarkable.

However, it's essential to navigate the marketplace with a discerning eye. Amongst the genuine sellers, there are tourist traps that offer overpriced sandwiches and tastings. With a bocadillo ranging from €2.50 to €4.25, it pays to be aware and compare. The prices almost seem identical for similar products, so careful observation is key to finding the best deals.

The sheer size of the marketplace is another aspect worth mentioning. It houses a multitude of stands, each offering something unique. This diversity not only adds to the charm of the place but also means that there is something for everyone, regardless of your taste or budget.

The Central Marketplace in Valencia is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the local culture through food. Its vast array of fresh produce, coupled with the need to distinguish between genuine sellers and tourist traps, makes for an engaging and rewarding experience. Just remember to keep your eyes open for the best deals, and don't miss the organic stand near the fish section for some exceptional quality produce!

Very nice market to visit and quite big, i would suggest visiting it on the first day if possible as you can buy many fruit and vegetables, and loads of meat.

Very clean and pretty market. From souvenirs to exotic fruits to local sweets. I would recommed the shop of Navarro for the sweets. You can taste and then choose. you can pay with card or cash. He was so attending and he even let us know to use the receipt for toilette use. All in all very nice place and muss visit.

This should be your number 1 place to visit whilst in Valencia if your a foodie like myself. It is simply stunning with a vast array of different shops and little restaurants inside. We spent a couple of hours here but could have stayed longer as it was so much fun. Free to enter and free to see all the beautiful types of foods from this area.

Cool place to visit. Many many produce, meat and food stands. Great fresh products, even seafood.

Building is ancient and appreciated of you need to use the 1 euro restroom in the basement.

It closes at 3, so come early. Lots of samples, lots of tourists, lots to see!

Beautiful central market which is one of the oldest and biggest market in Europe. The architecture is great and the variety of goods you can find here is enormous. However, the structure of the interior space is a bit chaotic for me opposed to other Spanish markets I've been to.

Quite enjoyed the atmosphere! It’s a grand bazaar where you can find delicious food, tapas, chocolate, a wide range of drinks, souvenirs, bakeries and everything. Not just to take away but you can also grab a glass of Sangria or Vermut and taste handmade gourmet chocolates while doing some shopping. Totally a must-see!

Such a wonderful market filled with all types of produce, products and food/drink options.

The fresh fruit and veggies are among my favourite things to shop for, plus the Jamón, Oils, Seafood (which you can even have fresh on the spot - Incredible!), plus Spanish Charcuterie.

Festive decorations were a lovely touch also!

I just love it! Beautiful, fascinating, incredible and very good organized indoor market. The best time to enjoy food shopping there is in the early morning as it is not crowded and not too warm.

This market is incredible! It's probably the best indoor market I've ever visited.
I'm almost lost for words.
The building itself is beautiful, but it's the amazing amount of authentic working stalls inside that has to be seen to be believed.
The choice of fresh seafood, vegetables, cheeses, meats, sweets, the list goes on, will take your breath away.
The fact that this market serves the local community rather than pandering to the hoards of tourists adds greatly to its charm.
Not to be missed.

The biggest and most popular market in Valencia. We visited on two separate days to be able to see every shop. Multitude of options from trinkets and souvenirs to butchers and food stalls. If you’re a tourist looking to buy souvenirs to bring back home, this market is your one-stop shop.

Beautiful market, full of fresh produce, food and souvenirs. Make sure you try a few pots while walking around admiring the architecture.
I was disappointed it was closed on a Sunday as I wanted more time there, but I'm glad I got the chance to see it regardless!

What a wonderful market. So much great food and it looks sooooo fresh. We enjoyed Bocadillo and bought some Prosciutto and cheese. Everything was fresh and delicious. They had the most amazing Paella. Give it a visit hen you are here next. You won’t be disappointed.
