Definitely add this one to your dining list. Old school service (the best kind) and great food. There is a delicatessen section at the front so you know your meats are going to be top quality. They only take bookings for lunch so for dinner you might have to line up but tables turn over quickly. Patricia was the ultimate professional and our food was delicious.

During our honeymoon, we had dinner here for 2 times. Very professional staffs, tasty foods, and typical Spanish atmosphere brought us to here again. I talked to with my friends from Barcelona, and it found out that Casa Alfonso has been Definitely famous for their food and history. Hopefully I wish to visit there again

Top notch dinner at Casa Alfonso where we were served by the warm, attentive and always smiling Patricia. She was definitely the main highlight along with the exquisite food. We tried many tapas like Chips Berenjenas, croquetas (jamon, carillera), the racion the jamon, gazpacho, Bunuelos bacalao, tarta queso etc. while enjoying a Rioja Reserva. The location is on the bright side as well with a traditional interior which takes us a little back in the time. Definitely I'd come back here when I'll be around.

Came twice during our three day stay in Barcelona, and it NEVER let us down. Hands down the best place for food in Barcelona! Can’t wait for my next visit

I’m glad we chanced upon this cafe just as we arrived in Barcelona. Not so far from the main tourist drags around Placa Catalunya, this feels genuine and local. We didn’t know what to order and pointed at what others were eating. All the food was delicious but a shoutout goes to the best croquet we had, a vegetarian (spinach) dish on this Spain trip. +1 also for the beer (Mahou), and a fried artichoke and ham dish that was juicy and full of flavor.

The ibérico ham is so amazing.
I am pretty sure it’s one of the best I have ever tried in Spain.
The seafood rice is similar with Paella and it’s not salty and the rice is soft which is almost perfect for me who is Taiwan
There’re staff speaking English fluently and introduced their food friendly.
Basically, I have good experiences.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge and I always take those recommendations with a grain of salt, but we were starved so we headed over. It was early, around 8pm, so we were seated right away. It took about 20+ minutes before anyone came to take our food and drink orders but it soon proved to be well worth the wait. The croquettes we ordered were the best we’ve ever had - ham, chorizo and egg, and spinach and Brie. The burrata salad was also delicious and the Ibérica board was generous. The sangria was also great. We ordered the bread with tomato, which is exactly as described. The bread was fresh, and although I wasn’t a huge fan (just a matter of personal taste), my daughter loved it. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant, and will try to return before we leave the city. (In case it matters to you, we visited in July but the main indoor dining room was a pleasant cool temperature. If you’re bothered by cigarette smoke, I would generally recommend you eat indoors throughout the city, even if the weather is mild. I realized this after the fact and was grateful we had opted to eat inside.)

With so many great places to eat in Barcelona, it is hard not to stop and have several bites throughout the day.
We picked this place for a post lunch, pre dinner snack and was not disappointed.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Would have a proper meal next time we are around the area again.

I had a nice experience here, very tasty cured meat and tuna tartare!
Service could be faster, but they are very kind!
Garlic prawns where not great , a little too spicy for my taste and the garlic taste is weak!
Bathroom was clean!

You know it's good when the place is filled with locals. The service we received was terrific and the food was simple, but what really impressed us was the heart of it all. We were made to feel at home. It's easy to see how they have been in business for almost 100 yrs!

Incredible tapas and main entrees. Highly recommend the Alfonso Paella and anything from the croquettes menu. Service was quick although we came a little earlier than normal (7pm).

We had a great lunch at this place , Every dish was made with extreme care a love . We finished everything 100%.

Luckily it was 2 minutes walking from our hotel . I'll definitely come back to this place in my next visit to Barcelona.

The food here is extremely good. The foundation of the taste is, in my view, the fact thay they have access to high quality ingredients, especially the meats. We ate there three times and tried to sample as much as possible from the menu. Every time, we were not disappointed. Of course, there will be a line to enter and the place tends to be quite busy, but for good reason.

We love casa Alfonso. We stumbled upon this place last time we visited BCN and had to go back this time. Food is amazing. There's no English menu and waiting staff only speak little English. But everything we ordered were flavorful and delicious. There are things that I don't see on other places such as tripes, artichoke flowers etc. Highly recommend.

Excellent tapas in an old school setting. Ham and tomato bread was chef’s kiss. Spinach+brie croquettes melt in your mouth. And you cannot go wrong with garlic prawns. Also tried the potatas bravas, black rice, and anchovies. All were excellent.

The place holds the history of many years yet keeps the level of the quality and service. Don’t expect the big quantities of food, and do expect great taste of each dish you order. Everything we tried, was delicious.

Food was delicious! Typical and the menu had a variety of choices. Staff was too kind and polite. The ambience inside was very special, you could feel being in Barcelona. Had to wait a little bit to get a table, because there was a queue. I found it a little bit pricey aswell.

After 4 years I'm giving my rating. We came here by chance, had some cheese, salami for starters absolutely great, the main meals I don't remember basically different meat plates also great. I especially recommend the cheese cake-WOW, a must. We also enjoyed the home red wine, so much that we wanted to buy a bottle for souvenir, only to find out that we already drunk the last one. Go there and enjoy.
