Wood panelling, waiters in uniform, maitre de hote in dinner jacket...service impeccable. Food of course of high standard. I like this restaurant very much. Not too expensive for the quality offered. It is at the top of a hill following a narrow road from El Escorial. There is a car park but gets full as the restaurant is popular. There is a car park attendant who will guide you to a space.

Located in a middle mountainside forest, you may choose from an open air Chill Out area, a Chimney small family restaurant, a classic Restaurant or two crystal luminous terraces.
Wide choice Menu, Shellfish, splendid Steaks, Fresh Fish and different tasty Rices or just plenty of juicy Tapas.

We have been going to La Horizontal for many years. The setting is amazing. However during weekends it might be crowded. The "menu del día" is really good and inexpensive. The place is also great just to have a few drinks or coffee outside. Nearby there are also some options to take a walk. The outside sitting is also good to be with kids.

Exquisite food, beautiful setting on the side of the mountain with a large terrace, and impeccable service. The onion rings live up to expectations - light, crispy and delicate. The daily menu is 19€ (2 courses, dessert and coffee). There is parking on site. Booking strongly recommended - it is popular with locals and tourists alike! Does cater to children (off-menu) and it has large grounds for them to run about. Definitely recommend 👍👍👍

Beautiful atmosphere, first class service and high quality dishes with beautiful presentation. I sat out in the back in covered patio with a cool summer breeze which was wonderful. The staff is extremely professional and on top of everything, very attentive.

The food was delicious. I am a sucker for foie Gras which is expensive, controversial and not overly popular in the USA as it is in Spain. I ordered the Huevos rotos with foie and fresh shaved truffles which were plentiful. I also had the escalopes of fresh foie which both dishes were outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in El Escorial.

It takes an effort to get there because it's not in town per se. It's in a somewhat wooded area , very close to nature and a beautiful setting. Apparently this place is quite historic as well and you can sit inside or out. Prices are good, food was as well.

Great service. Great food. I needed to charge my iPhone and they have battery packs and cable for you to use during dinner!!!! Thank you!!!! Cozy. You feel in the nature! Bacalao al pilpil excellent!!!

Nice place. Although they do not serve vegan food they did the effort to prepare a nice dish for me. It was delicious.
