A beautiful part of nature with great trails all around it. We also walked to The Bear Cave. Convenient to park your car within a few steps of the Silla. We were there after 5pm on a Monday so it was not crowded. Two or three other families were there. I can imagine it would be jammed on the weekend. There is a park with more parking available down at the base of the hill but it’s quite a long, steep hike from there.

A great hike which is rewarded with an amazing view of El Escorial. You can start at the Bosque de la Herreria parking and make your way to the top in around an hour. The trail is relatively easily, with the possibility to continue hiking a different trail after you reached the top. If you want to start at El Escorial, you can first walk the Bosque de la Herreria trail and then continue to the Silla de Felipe II trail.

Awesome views of the valley, monastery, village and surrounding mountains from a big boulder! There is a little bar and picnic tables up there and enough parking for 5 or 6 cars. If there is no parking available, it is about a 2km walk from the parking down below each way or you can go on some of the hiking trails in the area. Great place for dogs, kids, family and fresh air!

The views are stunning. We drove up and parked at the end of the road (I suspect that might be nearly impossible to achieve on a nice weekend). There are no public toilets nearby, so plan accordingly.

It's worth visiting to get a great view of El Escorial. It's only a ten-minute drive from the monastery but there's no public transportation to the monument. It can get crowded but it's a quick visit so people are usually moving through it at a good pace. So, you should be able to get as many photos as you want.

Great hike up and down, 20 to 25 min each way. There is parking at the top. If you want to skip the hike.
Real nature, great views, birds.

Great hike from San Lorenzo. Takes about 45 min from monistary to seat at top. Hiked it twice this week. Beautiful views from the top.

Fantastic views but it gets quite crowded. If you want to go by car think twice. There's no parking lot at the top.

Great walk in the autumn air with the children. Not too strenuous a ramble, and some wonderful views over El Escorial

If you have ever wondered what it was like to be a king with a whole kingdom, then take the hike (or you can drive) up to La Silla de Felipe II. It gives you a beautiful view of El Monasterio del Escorial. It must have been something to view the construction over the 25 years that it took to build the monastery. Definitely worth the trip to see the Silla if you can get there!

A bit of a trek from the Royal monastery but it is a pleasant route through some fields and lightly forested park.

The view from the seat is very nice.

Great local place where the king would view the city from an overlook. Not in any tourbillon I read, still, it was worth seeing

Great views of the monastery. Best to go just before dusk on a sunny day. The light on the monastery is outstanding.

Very pleasant. Great views. Very peaceful . Good place for a picnic but not too many tables and chairs.
